Merry Moose Part 2

I wanted to play along with Merry Monday, and also wanted to do another card for the Jingle Belles challenge. I was going to use penguins this time but I still had my moose stamp out and just couldn't resist it, so here is another moose.

This card uses the sketch from Merry Monday, which I'm squeaking in before the challenge closes, and the Jingle Belles challenge to create a card with a living creature. I used the same DSP set as the last card, just changing up  it up to predominantly red with a touch of brown. I was going to add some red glitter on the nose of the moose for a Rudolph effect but I decided against it. I like the rustic look the card has as-is.

Thanks for looking!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Definitively Decorative Pines, misc sentiment stamp
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Frostwood Lodge DSP
Ink: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Nestabilities Standard Circles Large

Merry Moose for Jingle Belles and FMS

Today's card combines 2 challenges.....the first one is the Jingle Belles challenge, which is to include some type of living creature on your card. What other creature would I use but a moose :0) I sure love my moose and to really get this moose in the spirit I added some Cherry Cobbler bakers twine to its neck along with a jingle bell. I tell ya, when you have fine motor skill issues that is NOT an easy task, but I sure do like how it looks!

The sketch at Freshly Made Sketches was the perfect way to highlight the moose, its a great sketch brought to us by Narelle. I was just going to do the one circle, with the moose on it, but I like how the lacey circle highlights the smaller circle.

Thanks for looking and I hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend! If you are on the east coast be safe, I hope you are taking necessary precautions ahead of the large storm on the way!

Witchy Bleaching for Friday Mashup

Hello and happy Friday to everyone! It's time for the Friday Mashup challenge and this week our challenge is brought to us by Liliana and we are definitely switching gears from last week. We are jumping from Christmas right into Halloween, which of course is just next week!

Lili wants us to create a project with a witch, use the bleaching technique or mash it up and create a project that incorporates BOTH of those elements! I chose to mash it up!

I went back a few Friday Mashup challenges and used a sketch that had been brought to us by Holly. The witch is from the set Googly Ghouls, which can be found in the holiday mini. I hadn't inked up this set yet so this challenge was the perfect excuse! The DSP is retired and was in my stash.

For the bleaching technique I used the bat stamp from Googly Ghouls, pressed it on a paper towel that was dipped in bleach and then I stamped it on some Pumpkin Pie card stock to get the look I did. Very easy technique to do!

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup blog to check out the projects the rest of the design team came up with and then play along with us!
  1. Make a project with a "Witch".
  2. Or Make a project using "Bleach".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with a "Witch using a Bleach Technique".

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Googly Ghouls
Paper: Kiwi Kiss(retired), Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Basic Black, Ghostly Greetings DSP (retired)
Ink: Black StazOn, Pumpkin Pie, Kiwi Kiss(retired)

Butterfly Thoughts

My supervisor and I are pretty good friends and while talking the other night at work he asked if I would make a card for him. He is going through a divorce but has found romance with a gal that also works for the same place as we do and they are SO cute together. He really likes her and wanted a card that would help express his feelings. Butterflies have a special meaning for them so that's what I wanted to center my card around.

I used the retired set Upsy Daisy. This stamp is just so pretty and I thought of it instantly to go with the butterfly theme. I kept the colors cool, using Pool Party, Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip. I really liked how it turned out and when I sent a preview via text to my supervisor he seemed pretty happy with it so that makes me happy!

(sorry the pic isn't the best....got some glare due to the setting sun and I dont have time right now to try and take more shots!)

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Comfort Cafe DSP

A Birdy Birthday

My step mom's birthday is coming up on Oct.28th so I needed to get a card done and in the mail, so I used the current challenges at Freshly Made Sketches and The Paper Players for inspiration.

Freshly Made Sketches has a great sketch from LeAnne and it is a great way to showcase any image! My step mom loves birds and the color red so I decided to use Poppy Parade(retired) for the birds as well as for the DSP(I love this DSP and wish it had made it into the current catalog!).

The challenge at The Paper Players is to incorporate frames and I sure hope what I did counts! I used the Framed Tulips embossing folder to create a frame along the top of the card in Very Vanilla and inked the edges with Soft Suede. The owl and the bird cages sit inside the frame and they are all popped up with dimensionals.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday, and thanks for stopping by!

Sparkling Ornament for Friday Mashup

I just love the challenge that Amanda is bringing us this week at The Friday Mashup! It's all about ornaments and sparkle!

If you come to my blog regularly you'll know that I love to make Christmas cards....doesn't matter what time of year it is, I love making them. When I saw that Amanda wanted us to make a card with a Christmas ornament I went 'wooohooo'!

Sparkle is the 2nd portion of the challenge and that is usually a little tougher for me but SU's Silver Glimmer Paper made it easy for me to get all the sparkle I needed and more on this card. For a little extra bling I added rhinestones to the ornaments and also to the sentiment banner.

Head on over to the Friday Mashup blog to check out all the great cards from the rest of the design team, and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you come up with!
  1. Make a project with a "Christmas Ornament".
  2. Or Make a project with some "Sparkle".

Neutral Christmas Lodge

Another Christmas card done thanks to Merry Monday! Lesley has a great sketch for us today and I stayed true to the sketch almost 100%, except for the way I did the banner at the bottom.

For this card I stuck with neutral colors, using only Early Espresso, Crumb Cake (for the card base) and Very Vanilla. The DSP is from Candlelight Christmas . I just got this packet the other day and I am kicking myself for not ordering some of it sooner, the papers are SO pretty! I'm definitely going to have to stock up on this DSP!

Thanks for stopping by and head over to Lesley's blog to check out Merry Monday!

Faux Washi Sketch for Friday Mashup

Hello and happy Friday to everyone! This will be my first full day as a 39 year old....yep, my birthday was 10-11-12. How cool is that date? LOL And to top the night off I got to transition from Thurs night into the wee hrs of Fri morning watching the Northern Lights dance in the sky above my house, gotta love that!

Tara is bringing us a technique and a sketch this week for the Friday Mashup. She wants us to try making faux washi tape. Now I cannot lie, she posted this and I had to ask what the heck washi tape was, as apparently I am living under a rock here and had no clue. The DT filled me in and I went "um, hmm, ok then", LOL. I don't think its something I would buy and this technique is a perfect way to get the look without hoarding...I mean adding ;)....to your stash. You can find her tutorial for it HERE.

Now as I did the technique I learned by the time I got to my second strip that making sure the paper is completely saturated is the key. Apparently my first strip wasn't quite wet enough and it took me forever to get all the white off the back. With my second strip I added more water and the process went much quicker. Like Tara I also used matte tape, as that's just what I happened to have on hand :)

If you don't want to try the faux washi tape that's ok, Tara has a great sketch and you can do that instead or you can go for the gusto and mash it all up :)

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see all the great projects from the rest of the design team!

  1. Make a project with the "Sketch".
  2. Or Make a project using "Faux Washi Tape".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project using the "Sketch and Faux Washi Tape

Quilted Plaid Christmas

When I was making my card for the Merry Monday challenge yesterday I kept looking at the Frostwood Lodge DSP and wanted to do something else with it. I just love that paper, it is just SO me! This afternoon I sat down and came up with this card. The top note die shape was run through the Square Lattice EF for a quilted look and both the die shape and the sentiment are popped up with dimensionals. I added some Cherry Cobbler bakers twine to finish it all off.

Thanks for looking!

Stamps: Christmas Lodge
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Whisper White, Frostwood Lodge DSP

Plaid Christmas for Merry Monday

Holy moly, I got to sit down and make a card for the Merry Monday challenge on the same day it came out. Do I have a fever, did the world fall apart? ROFL

It's WAY too warm in my area for this time of year so to help brighten my mood I put on Blake Shelton's new album, Cheers, its Christmas while I stamped. Now I will say right off the bat that I HATE country music but I LOVE Christmas music, and this album is fantastic! If you haven't checked it out already I highly recommend it! Beautifully sung classic carols and some fun new songs that he wrote.

Back to the card....Lesley has a great sketch for us this week! I was going to make a standard size card instead of a square one because I'm just not that fond of square cards but it just wasn't working with what I had in mind so I made a square card after all :) I just love this stamp set 'Christmas Lodge' and this tree is one of my favorites.

I used the retired DSP Frostwood Lodge (plaid, another one of my favs!) and kept the card very simple, as I wanted to main focus on the tree. My daughter came home from school, saw the card and said "oh yeah, that is definitely a Lisa card", LOL. I think that's good?

I hope you are having a great day wherever you are, and thanks for stopping by!

Pink Christmas

I had some free time after watching my football game (Go NY Giants!!) to make another card and so I combined the current challenges at the Jingle Belles Blog and Freshly Made Sketches.

Since its October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month Stef and Lauren over at JB want us to make some Christmas cards with pink in it. Doesn't how much pink you use, the card just has to have pink somewhere. The best thing about making a card for this challenge? They will donate 4.00 for each card linked up and the money goes to the Susan G Komen Fund! Breast cancer has affected loved ones in my life so seeing people step up to help find a cure really makes me happy!

For the sketch I didn't make it a square card but other than that I followed all the elements given to us, although it took me a bit to decide which stamp set to use. I finally decided on the little girl Christmas image from 'Greeting Card Kids'.

When it came to the pink I went bold and bright, using Melon Mambo.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you go check out these 2 great challenge blogs!

Pink Sketch for Sunday Stamps

It's my turn to host at Sunday Stamps and I'm late with my own challenge, oooops! Just one of those weeks :)

I've got a sketch for the challenge this week and I tried to keep it pretty simple. I don't like sketches that have a lot of elements, I always gravitate to the ones that are nice and simple!

Because its October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month I went with a pink card in honor of the women in my life who have battled or who are currently battling breast cancer.

I hope you'll come over to Sunday Stamps and play along with us, we'd love to have you!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Ribbon of Hope, Strength and Hope (both retired)
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Tea Party DSP(retired)
Ink: Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots EF, Nestabilities Lacey Circles and Standard Circles, sponge, dimensionals

Friday Mashup Blue and Green Rectangles

Happy Friday and welcome to another Friday Mashup challenge! Erica has a great challenge for us this week, using my 2 favorite colors in varying shades, and throwing rectangles in the mix also!

So what are the colors? She has Gumball Green, Lucky Limeade, Pacific Point and Marina Mist. I just love these colors, they are all so pretty and fun! For my rectangles I used strips of paper as banners going down the front, so I hope that counts! I thought these colors would work good for a birthday card I'm sending to a male cousin of mine.

So here is the full challenge:

Make a project with the colors "Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Gumball Green, and Lucky Limeade".
Or Make a project using "Rectangles".
Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with the "Color Combination and Rectangles".

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup blog to check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team, and then play along with us!

Christmas Snow Sketches

I was able to sneak some stamping time in today and created this card for 2 great challenges, Merry Monday and The Paper Players.

The sketch is the current one over at Merry Monday and The Paper Players have a Bingo challenge. I decided to do the top row, which is Christmas-Sparkle/Bling-Ribbon. I did have a bit of a time trying to decide how to add ribbon onto this card but finally I just made a 3rd banner strip across the bottom using some Cherry Cobbler ribbon. The sparkle/bling is in the form of Dazzling Diamonds, which I added along some of the lines in the image, to make it look like ridges of snow.

I just love this stamp from the set 'Winter Memories'. As a child growing up(and even into adulthood!) one of my favorite things has always been going out and making snowmen. It's always so much fun trying to create that happy little guy or girl to adorn your yard. In my neck of the woods the snow is very dry so we don't get to make snowmen that often here but when we do we sure take advantage of it!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to go check out these 2 great challenges!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Winter Memories, Petite Pairs
Paper: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Watercolor Paper, Festival of Prints DSP
Ink: Black StazOn, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Baja Breeze, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, Cherry Cobbler ribbon, 1 3/8" circle punch, Big Shot, Snow Burst Embossing Folder, Blender Pen, dimensionals, sponge

Sketchy Snowfall

Today's card was inspired by 2 challenges....Jingle Belles and Merry Monday.

The current challenge over at the Jingle Belles blog is to make a project that celebrates snow. No problem for me because I LOVE LOVE LOVE snow...heck, that's why I moved to Alaska and we even got our first dusting of snow this past weekend! I used my Polar Party stamp set and did my favorite thing to get the look of snow falling...I ran my image panel through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I just love how that looks! I also added glitter to all the raised dots but its hard to see in the picture.

The sketch is last weeks challenge from Merry Monday. Because of my crazy schedule lately I wasn't able to play along last week but wanted to make a card with this sketch.

Thanks for stopping by!
