Thanks and Giving

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun sketch from Teresa!

I'm starting to get going on my fall projects so for my card today I pulled out a set from SugarPea Designs. I really love this sentiment and the square in the middle of the sketch is perfect for highlighting a sentiment. The background paper is also from SugarPea Designs and that's where I pulled my colors from. I didn't want the sentiment to be the only thing on the front panel, that was too plain, so I added some leaves from the set around it.

Merry Christmoose!

Boy, switching to day shift at work has me all confused! I don't know what day I thought it was but it's Weds and that means there is a new challenge up at The Merry Christmas Challenge blog, and I should have posted first thing this morning. Oooopsie!

It's an Anything Goes challenge as always, with this week having polka dots as an optional theme. I love polka dots so I included the optional theme on my card.

I used one of my favorite stamps, this moose from the Merry Christmoose set from SugarPea Designs. How cute is he (and yes, it's a he, female moose don't have antlers!)? I colored him with my copics and then grabbed some retired DSP out of my stash that had matching colors. The polka dot paper goes with his scarf perfectly and I carried the theme by embossing the brown panel with a large polka dot pattern. The layout is from last weeks Sketch Saturday.

Make sure and head on over to The Merry Christmas Challenge to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! There is only 29 weeks until Christmas :0)

You Mean the Whirl To Me

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week Heidi has a great sketch for us!

I colored up this dragon from SugarPea Designs last week for the Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge, using colors my 19 year old son found when he googled dragon images. As I started going through my hoard of paper I found some retired SU DSP that matched him beautifully, so my card came together quite quickly. I love it when that happens!

Happy Camper for Sunday Stamps

It's time for a new challenge over at Sunday Stamps and this week we have a color challenge. The colors made me think of a cool winters day, and from there I morphed into Valentines Day thinking and that is how I ended up with this camper card :)

We have many friends here in Alaska that spend the summer out and about in their RV's and so I just had to have this camper set from SugarPea Designs, it will come in handy for many different occasions. For this card I took some retired SU DSP and paper pieced the designs on the RV, then I used my copics to color in the rest of the areas. I used Night of Navy to stamp the sentiment on the retired Regal Rose DSP.

I'm also entering this into SugarPea Designs Anything Goes challenge....I used one of their older sketches for my layout.

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and say hi to our 2 brand new design team members! Don't forget to play along with us, we'd love to see how you interpret these colors!

Penguin Wishes

Happy Hump Day! Does everyone have everything all done for Christmas? Hubby and I went into Anchorage on Saturday and finished our Christmas shopping, and now we just have to pick up a few perishables for Christmas dinner and we are all set. It feels good to be right on track!

With it being Weds that also means that it's time for a new challenge over at The Merry Christmas Challenge blog! As always it's an Anything Goes theme, with the option of using a charm this week.

A friend of mine adores penguins and so I used an adorable penguin from SugarPea Designs to create her card. I just love this little guy all tangled up in Christmas lights! They are a military family currently in transit to a new duty station in Hawaii so this little guy will be there to greet them when they get all settled in.

Make sure to head on over to The Merry Christmas Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! If you are done with your 2017 Christmas cards this is the perfect way to start building your 2018 stash!

Autumn Thanks

I'm a tad late getting my Sunday Stamps card up but here it is!

This week at Sunday Stamps we have a color challenge, some nice bright colors that are perfect for autumn themed cards. I used a sentiment stamp from SugarPea Designs as my focal point and stamped it in the purple from the challenge. I brought in the orange and turquoise (I used a more muted shade) with my background papers and the leaves.

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Fall Blessings

Autumn is making it's way into southcentral Alaska. The leaves are starting to turn yellow, fireweed is blooming out and it's leaves are turning red and our days are nice and cool. Since I'm in an autumn frame of mind I decided to make a fall themed card with a set from SugarPea Designs. The set is called Lovely Leaves and it has 3 great sentiments that are perfect for highlighting on a card.

For this card I chose to highlight the sentiment "Fall Blessings". I picked the patterned paper for this card out first and then pulled the colors from it to use on the sentiment panel. I die cut the circle and then stamped the sentiment and leaf images around it for a little extra visual punch. I then popped the circle up with dimensionals. There is no coloring on this card at all, which is unusual for me!

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmoose in June

I've really been lagging this year with Christmas cards and so I wanted to make sure I made time to play along with the current Jingle Belles challenge before it closed.

For the challenge the gals at Jingle Belles want us to create a card with at least 3 layers. I had these moose from SugarPea Designs in my stash and colored thanks to the last 30 Day Daily Marker Challenge so I grabbed them and then checked out the SugarPea Designs blog to see what their sketch challenge looked like. It includes a few layers so I was able to combine the two challenges. I created 3 cards since I had 3 moose colored.

Thanks for stopping by!

Moose Greetings for SPD

While hubby and our youngest watched Godzilla Sunday afternoon I headed into my craft room to get some cards made. I played along with a challenge I haven't joined in a while, the SugarPea Designs Mix It Up. You can play with the sketch, the inspiration photo or both. I chose to go with the sketch.

I used one of my favorite stamps from them, the moose from the Merry ChristMoose set. He can be used for any occasion, I just color his scarf to match whatever colors I am using on his card. For this card I went with yellow and gray with a hint of teal color. I used some retired SU DSP for the base layer and strips. I left a sentiment off so the card can be used for any occasion.

Thanks for stopping by!

Special Delivery

It's been a pretty quiet weekend around the house as I get ready for my wonderful 2 week vacation to end and work to start back up. I'm trying not think about going back to reality so I've locked myself in my craft room the last few nights to get creative.

For this card I played along with the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and the Anything Goes challenge at the SugarPea Designs Challenge blog. I just love this penguin and with Valentines Day next month I thought it would be nice to make a card with him. I chose red accents with just a touch of blue to go with my Valentines theme, coloring the image with copics.

Thanks for stopping by!

SSC143 Winter Frost

This week at Sunday Stamps we have a color challenge for you, full of cool winter colors. I'm not even going to lie, this one was hard for me because I absolutely despise the color purple (and pink) so I don't have much purple in my stash at all. I kept going back to the graphic over the course of several days trying to jump start my brain and get my mojo working.

The photo in the graphic reminds me of winter in Alaska. We spent a good portion of Nov and Dec in negative temps and ended up with a lot of hoarfrost on the trees. Our skies also turn a very pretty pink/purple during sunsets and we get alpenglow on the mountains that surround the valley I live in. This is the inspiration I drew from for my card.

My card base is Perfect Plum and I used some patterned paper from MFT for the background. I then used the Log Cabin Mountainscape Die from SugarPea Designs as my main focal point. I've got a little house in the woods surrounded by trees and mountains so that's what I was thinking of when using this die. I used Wisteria Wonder for the mountain tops, to mimic the color one might see as the alpenglow fades and shadows fall. I used an embossing folder from SU for the snow across the ground.

Thanks and Giving for Sunday Stamps

It's time for a new challenge at Sunday Stamps and this time we have a sketch for everyone.

I needed another card to send out for Thanksgiving so I grabbed the SugarPea designs set Lovely Leaves to use the large sentiment. I've used it several times this fall, I really love it! The DSP is some I've been hoarding for a few years now...SU fans will probably recognize it, it's called Spice Cake. I just love this DSP and when I saw a friend break it out recently I was inspired to dive into my hoard.

For the area the heart is in on the sketch I stamped 2 leaves and some berries and then fussy cut them out to adhere on the corner of the square. The square sentiment panel is popped up with dimensionals.

Make sure and head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!

Fall Blessings for Sunday Stamps

It's time for another challenge at Sunday Stamps and this week we have a nice simple sketch to play along with.

I grabbed the set Lovely Leaves from SugarPea Designs and embossed the sentiment "Fall Blessings" in gold on the left side of the card front. I then used some paper I've had for years from S.E.I. to create my border on the right side of the card. It has gold on it also so ties in nicely with the gold sentiment. To help separate the 2 sections I added a strip of Old Olive, cut out with a die from MFT.

Make sure you head over to Sunday Stamps to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Thanks and Giving for Sunday Stamps

Oooops, I'm a bit late getting my Sunday Stamps post up! Hubby and I went to Seward Alaska with good friends this past weekend to celebrate my birthday and I forgot to set up the post before I left.

This week at Sunday Stamps we have a color challenge. I decided to use the browns and go monochromatic on my card. I also played along with the sketch over at SugarPea Designs challenge blog.

The sentiment is from SugarPea Designs set Lovely Leaves. I love this sentiment and the font used! I stamped the leaves from the set in a few different browns, cut them out and then popped them up in the corner.

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and play along with us! Don't forget to also go check out the challenge over at SugarPea Designs!

Full of Thanks 2

Today's card is pretty similar to the card I posted the other day, I just changed up the layout and color scheme  a tad. It uses the same items as the previous card, other than the Pumpkin Pie CS. Nice and simple and once again, great way to highlight this fantastic sentiment!

Full of Thanks

SugarPea Designs recently had a new release and as soon as I saw their set Lovely Leaves I knew I had to have it. I'm very picky about fonts and sentiments and I just love the fonts and sentiments in this set, they are perfect for fall cards!

I wanted the sentiment to be the main focal point so I kept the rest of the card simple. I adore plaid and this paper from their Countryside paper pad makes me swoon, I love the green and orange with the touch of blue. That is where I drew the rest of my inspiration for this card.

Naughty and Nice

I haven't played  along with many challenges this summer so today I cleared my calendar and stamped all day. I need to make 50 Christmas cards for an order I got so I decided to play along with SugarPea Designs Mix It up Challenge. I only used the sketch portion of the challenge.

I used the SPD set Merry Makers and  colored in the elf with Copics. The "naughty or nice" sentiment is from the Santa's Gift Tag set. I really liked this retired DSP from SU and didn't want to splice it like the sketch so I ended up using some silver stretch cord to create 2 different sections. The DSP had the varying designs on the same side of paper so I cut it to give me 2 of each design. Both of the circles are popped up for dimension.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Merry and Bright Christmas

I took a break from working in my yard Monday to play along with the newest SPD sketch. I haven't made a Christmas card in a while so I decided to pull out an SPD set that I hadn't used yet, Merry Makers.

I colored the elf in with Copics and stuck with traditional Christmas colors. I thought about coloring the bulbs yellow and blue but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I can't help it, I'm a bit particular when it comes to things like that!

The patterned paper is retired from SU and continues that traditional color theme. My banners were cut from SU Real Red and Garden Green. I wanted a place for my sentiment so I added the banner below the circle.

Thanks for stopping by! Only 249 days until Christmas :)

A Spring Moosing You

Things are settling down here again so I am trying to catch up on challenges. Today's card is for the newest sketch over at SugarPea Designs and I pulled out my favorite set, Merry Christmoose. Don't let the name of the set fool you, this sweet moose can be used for any occasion!

When I colored in my moose I used yellow and green on the scarf so I decided to keep that theme going with the papers I used, giving the card a nice spring feel. It's still chilly in the spring so Mr Moose needs his scarf to keep his neck warm :)

Thanks for stopping by!
