Thanks and Giving

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun sketch from Teresa!

I'm starting to get going on my fall projects so for my card today I pulled out a set from SugarPea Designs. I really love this sentiment and the square in the middle of the sketch is perfect for highlighting a sentiment. The background paper is also from SugarPea Designs and that's where I pulled my colors from. I didn't want the sentiment to be the only thing on the front panel, that was too plain, so I added some leaves from the set around it.

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! We'd love to see how you interpret the sketch!

No Place Like Home for LMMS

It's time for a new challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog and there are also a few new images being released today! My card features one of the new images, Polka Dot Pals Dorothy.

I've always loved the The Wizard of Oz so of course I had to color my image as close to the original Dorothy as possible, and I kept the blue, white and red theme going with the background paper, card base and lettering of the word 'home'. The sentiment is actually from SugarPea Designs and I cut out 'home' several times and stacked it up so it would pop more when adhered to the card.  If you've been by my blog before you'll know I'm not big on embellishments, therefore I left the card alone after putting the sentiment and image on it.

Head on over to the Little Miss Muffet Stamps store to see all the new images HERE and then hop over to the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog to play along with our new Anything Goes Challenge and to check out what the rest of the DT came up with!

Current Mood for Power Poppy

Between work and other commitments it took me all week to get my card done for the current Power Poppy Hues to Use challenge but I finally got it finished up tonight! I had it colored days ago but it's been sitting on my desk waiting to be assembled into a card.

As soon as I saw these colors I instantly thought fall and wanted to use one of my favorite clear sets, Feeling Fall. This image with the boot and leaves is one of my all-time favs, I just love it!

I'm not a fan of purple so I always have a hard time incorporating it into my projects. Here I brought it in on the boots and the background paper. The yellow was brought in on some of the leaves and then the pop of orange is some of the leaves and the polka dot strip across the bottom of the card. I really like the way the orange pops against the purple!

Thanks for stopping by!

Tranquility for Sunday Stamps

It's time for a new challenge  over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a pretty color combo for everyone. The colors reminded me of a cottage along the beach and opening up french doors to let the ocean breeze move through the house....

A friend of mine has had a rough couple of months, having lost her father and most recently her grandfather. Unfortunately those are 2 losses my heart knows well and so I wanted to send her a card letting her know that I'm there for her no matter what.

The Sunday Stamps team had a bit of a debate about one of the colors in the swatch...some felt it was along the lines of So Saffron while others felt it was more of a Petal Pink color. I was in the Petal Pink camp so that's the color I used to make the light shining from the lighthouse. For the lighthouse itself I used Night of Navy and Slate Gray, and the Night of Navy was also used for the card base and the sentiment. I took the Slate Gray and stamped the water, stamping the stamp off once on scratch paper and then onto the panel to create more of a soft stormy look for the water. I used a sponge to stamp the gray around the edges of the image panel and across the image panel itself. I used Sahara Sand to stamp the beach and then used some of the new 6x6 Neutrals DSP for the strip across the bottom. The layout is a recent sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

Make sure and head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! We'd love to see how you use these colors!

Merry Pigmas

It's time for a new challenge over at The Merry Christmas Challenge blog and as always it's any Anything Goes challenge. You may have also noticed that we have switched the dates for the challenge....it is now a monthly challenge and begins on the 15th of each month.

For my card I used a fun image from Stamping Bella. I'm friends with quite a few folks who raise pigs for various reasons so I thought this would be a fun image to do for a Christmas card, it's definitely not something I would normally pick but I like to customize my cards and for a lot of folks in Alaska this is the perfect image :)

Power Poppy Neutrals

This week over at the Power Poppy blog Tosha is filling in for Julie as host of the Hues to Use challenge and she has a very thought provoking color palette for us...grayscale.

I have to admit, color challenges scare me to begin with, which is one of the reasons I always push myself to play along with the Hues to Use (well, that and Marcy has so many beautiful images that I want to color!) but when I saw what Tosha wanted us to do I was scared and intrigued! I immediately thought about doing some of the new mushroom images in grayscale but I'm not even going to lie, I tried it and hated it! Those images are now sitting in my circular file with a stream of naughty words still hanging in the air of my craft room. I walked away for a few days and decided to step back to the table this afternoon and grabbed the clear set Dynamic Duos: Glads and Gerberas for my next try.

I used my C copics to color in the gerberas, going with C0-C5. As I finished coloring I liked how it looked but I couldn't figure out a layout so I headed over to Pinterest to look at the Power Poppy board and their sketches. I found one that I thought would go good with this image and ran with it!

The patterned paper is some retired SU Neutrals DSP that I have in my stash and it was perfect for this challenge. I don't think the photo really does it justice, I really like how the card came out!

Simple Love for LMMS

It's Inspiration Week at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and this week I'm using one of my favorite digital stamps, Polka Dot Pals Peter. He is part of the ASL series of digital stamps and is making the ASL sign for "I love you".

Since it's a masculine image I used darker colors and patterns and of course my favorite colors, blue and green. I always tend to gravitate towards those colors for masculine cards, I don't know why. My house is pretty much the same way, blues and greens everywhere LOL

For my layout I used the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, such a fun layout!

Don't forget, the Anything Goes challenge is still open over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog so make sure you head on over there and play along with us!

Where Liberty Dwells

I was hoping that Power Poppy would have patriotic colors for their Hues to Use this week and they did not disappoint! I knew I wanted to use their free patriotic sentiments, I grabbed those last year as soon as I learned about Power Poppy, one can never have enough patriotic images or sayings!

I used the exact same paper for both cards, just switching it around along with the font color on the sentiments. Being a (retired) military family we still have tons of friends and family serving so these cards will be perfect for several occasions....boot camp graduations, military retirement, general military encouragement, etc.

Thanks for stopping by!

Forever Grateful for LMMS

Happy Thursday! Did everyone have a nice 4th of July? We had a nice quiet day here....our 19 yr old son had to work and our oldest son decided to stay at his place because of traffic (tourists, RV's and locals heading out to play always clog our small road system during the big summer holidays) so it was just me and hubby most of the day. My area of Alaska is seeing a bit of a heat wave so we went into our pool to cool off, then a friend came over later to enjoy some good food with us. We ended the night by watching Jeopardy with our son when he got home from work. We're big party animals if you can't tell ROFL

It's Inspiration Week over at LMMS and I pulled out the Pick Me Up Truck-Celebrate image again. I LOVE this truck! Seriously, this image is so me and it's going to get a lot of use by me! I stayed with the red, white and blue theme by using a white card base, then adding blue splatter and some red stripes. It makes it look like the truck is driving off into a starry sky a bit doesn't it? I think I may send it off to my nephew when he gets to his first duty station, Fort Riley Kansas! Kansas is definitely going to be an interesting place for him.

Make sure you head on over to the Little Miss Muffet Stamps Facebook group to check out all the happenings there and don't forget, the Anything Goes challenge is still open over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog is still open, so come on by and play along with us!

Thanks

Freshly Made Sketches has a nice and simple sketch this week that is perfect for showing off sentiments so I grabbed a stamp set from MFT that features thank you sentiments and created a quick card.

I used one of my favorite color combos, yellow and blue. This is such a cheery color combo, I really should use it more often! To keep the card simple I just did the polka dot paper across the bottom of the card and then left the rest of the card base plain.

Thanks for stopping by!

Military Love for Sunday Stamps

Welp, I'm late again with a post. Seems to be my new norm lately, not sure what my problem is! I think I'm just enjoying my month off from work and spending time with hubby and kids. I swear I'll get my act together soon.

We've got a sketch this week at Sunday Stamps and since I promised my cousin that I'd make her some cards to send to her stepson in boot camp I made a military themed card. The silhouette of the solider is the 2 flower images on the right side of the sketch and the hearts are the one on the left.

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see how you interpret this sketch!
