Daffodils for Power Poppy

I'm still playing catch up for Power Poppy's Hues to Use and this card was made using the colors from their Jan.1 challenge.

As soon as I saw the yellow in the colors I instantly thought of the set Daffodils. I colored the larger image in the set and had to add a touch of purple for the hyacinth in the bouquet. The layout is from one I found on pinterest, I believe it came from Operation Write Home when they were active.

Warm My Heart for Sunday Stamps

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a color challenge that is perfect for Valentines Day themed cards. It involves a lot of pink, which did stump me, as anyone who has been to blog before knows that I do not like the color pink, at all. LOL

I sat and looked at these colors for a while, then went and stared at all my stamps for a while, and then went back and stared at the colors again and finally decided to pull out the Sheltering Tree set from SU. I got thinking about my grandparents and the trips they'd take to Washington DC and how they loved seeing the cherry blossoms in bloom. I stamped the leaves in 2 different shades of pink and then did the tree itself in a dark plum color. The swipe across the ground is another shade of pink and I incorporated the gold color by stamping the sentiment with some retired Hello Honey. The paper is from SU's Petal Garden DSP and was a perfect match for this color scheme.

Make sure and head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then give these colors a try, we'd love to see what you come up with!

Birthday for the Doctor

My oldest son turned 24 at the beginning of January and since he is a HUGE Doctor Who fan I decided to make him a birthday card with that theme. I used a stamp set from Kindred Stamps called Time Traveler to create my card, it features lots of great images one can use for a Doctor Who theme. The card was a big hit with my son!

Just Because for LMMS

It's time for a new challenge over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and this week I decided to use one of my favorite images, Moose Love. I just love this sweet mama moose and her calf!

I decided to create a "just because" card that can be used to send a note of love for any occasion, not just Valentines Day. My family and I don't celebrate V-Day anyway, we like to show our love for one another every day in little ways.

Normally I color the moose with more of a red tint, as moose fur in real life has a reddish hue to it, but this time I made them a bit darker in order to blend in better with the background paper I used.

Make sure to head on over to the LMMS blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! Don't forget, there is also an LMMS FB group where you can share your creations and see what others are creating.

Hi, Friend

I'm still playing catch up with the Power Poppy Hues to Use challenge, and these colors are from Jan.9. I'm also playing along with the Power and Spark Challenge again, which is to use a layout from PageMaps.

I decided to color in these gladiolas from the Dynamic Duos: Glads and Gerberas set. I love gladiolas, I used to grow them when I lived in the Lower 48 but haven't tried growing them here in Alaska. Using the hues I colored the flowers yellow and red, and the purple was brought in with the designer paper.

Blue Santa

I've gotten behind on the Power Poppy Hues to Use challenge and so it's my goal to hurry up and get the ones I missed done before the end of the week. This card is for last weeks Hues to Use, which is a lovely blue palette!

I'm playing along with the Daily Marker 30 Day challenge and my theme this week is winter/cold so I decided to use Power Poppy's Flowering Santa and color him blue. Nothing wrong with a blue Christmas :)

I tried to match my copics to the challenge colors as best as I could, hopefully I came close! My 19 yr old son really liked this card...it's rare to get a reaction from him when it comes to cards so it made me feel good that he liked it so much!

I'm also playing with the Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge, which is to create a card using a layout from PageMap.

Warm Wishes for Jingle Belles

I was so mad at myself for missing the first challenge of the year over at Jingle Belles so I made sure to set aside time in order to get a card done for the second challenge of 2018, which is to have 3 elements of something on your project. I decided to go with polar bears!

I took a stencil from MFT and use distress oxide inks to create my background. I used a die to cut out the panel after I was done and adhered it to a card base of Bermuda Bay. The polar bears are popped up for added dimension and I used a sentiment that is perfect for a Christmas card or just a general winter greeting card.

I'm also playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day coloring challenge on Instagram, and my theme this week is winter/cold, so coloring the polar bears fit right into my theme perfectly.

Head on over to the Jingle Belles blog to play along, there are a few more days left!

Love You for LMMS

Happy Thursday! I hope everyone is having a great week. I've had my hands full with 2 puppies recovering from spay surgery. I think I may need a vacation after these next 10 days of trying to keep them quiet LOL

It's Inspiration Week over at LMMS and my card today features one of my favorite images, Polka Dot Pals Soleil. She is making the ASL sign for "love". As the mom of a deaf son I just love the ASL images that LMMS carries! You can find Soleil in the LMMS shop HERE.

The Anything Goes Challenge is still open so head on over to the LMMS blog and play along with us!

Greetings from Santa

Happy Weds! It's time for a new challenge over at The Merry Christmas Challenge! As always its an Anything Goes challenge with an optional theme, and this week the option is 'stockings'. I'm a tad later posting my card but let me tell you, my two puppies got spayed on Monday and trying to keep them calm and not jumping around on Tuesday took all of my attention! Going to work Tues night seemed like a vacation after dealing with the puppies LOL

For my card I decided to use this older image from MFT. I just adore this images by Heather Ellis, whenever I find them in digital or stamp form I scoop them up! I already had 2 of these images colored so I created 2 of these cards to add to my 2018 Christmas card stash!

My layout was inspired by THIS card I found on pinterest. I really liked the window behind the image and the fun banners.

Warm Fuzzy Greetings

It's time for a new challenge over at Sunday Stamps and this week it's my turn for a sketch on the blog. As you can see with my card I decided to turn and rotate the sketch a bit, however you can still see all the elements from the sketch on my card.

I decided to use a recently retired set from MFT because I love this moose and we know I'm all about the moose! We've got one hanging out in the neighborhood right now but I keep seeing her at night and not during the day when I can get good pics darnit!

Anyway, to get my 3 elements I used a die from MFT and used some patterned paper for both the top and bottom portions, using green and blue to create a grass/sky type of look. I already had the moose in my stash and colored so he was popped up with dimensionals and then I colored and cut out the owl. This card is going into a card order for one of my friends here in Alaska so I wanted it to have wildlife on there that we get to see often (although she sees owls WAY more than I do, the lucky duck). I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso and boom, a nice and easy card done.

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see how you interpret this sketch!

Be Mine for LMMS

It's time for a brand new Anything Goes challenge at LMMS and this week I'm keeping the love theme going with the adorable Marley Be Mine image. This little mouse is super easy to color and you can use him for several occasions, not just Valentines Day. The colors I used were drawn from the retired SU DSP that I used on the card.

There are also brand new releases in the shop today, some of them are only $1.00! Head on over to the shop and find all the new images HERE.

After you get your new images head on over to the LMMS blog and join in on our Anything Goes challenge, we'd love to see what you create! Don't forget to check out what the rest of the DT has created this week!

I Heart You for LMMS

Oooops, I thought I had this post scheduled for Thursday but apparently I have vacation brain and forgot to do it!

It's time for Inspiration Week over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog and this week I decided to use an image from the Swing N Slides line of stamps. This one is called Swing N Slides Love You Bunches and I think it's adorable! I've always been a big tomboy so images like that always call to me.

I colored my girl in with copics and then used SU framelits to cut my heart out, and then I embossed the heart with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. After that I adhered the Love You Bunches to the heart and then put together the rest of my card. There are some awesome images over at the LMMS store for Valentines Day, this is just one of many. You can find more HERE.

Don't forget, the Anything Goes challenge over at the LMMS blog is still open so come on over and play along with us, we'd love to see your creations!

Filled With Joy

It's 2018 and time to start working on Christmas cards for this year :0) Thankfully we have The Merry Christmas Challenge to help build that card stash up!

For my card I used an older Pure Innocence image of a boy caroler. It used to be offered in Heather Ellis's Etsy shop but she hasn't added it to her website, which is where all her images for sale can be found now.

I had the image colored and in my stash so I went through my paper stash to see what I had that matched and found this retired DSP from SU that had the perfect colors. I used dies from MFT to cut the main DSP panel and then used a die from one of the MFT Blueprints to cut the panel I put the sentiment on. Since the DSP is pretty busy I wanted to keep the card pretty simple and so after stamping the sentiment I popped up the image above it and called it good!
