Miss You So Flippin' Much

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this time Stef has a great new sketch for us that uses a slimline design!

For my card I went with a min slimline card, so I could use the stitched mini slimline dies from MFT. The set I used is also MFT and is called Playful Penguins. I just adore this little penguin hanging out on a piece of ice.

I blended Stormy Sky and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks to create the water and the sky. When you're floating out there in the water it all kinds of blends together so I sprayed some water on the lower half of the card to make it look like water around the penguin and his ice shelf. After adhering the penguin to the card I then added some white dots in the sky as stars, because at this point I decided to add some stars that come in the set and make an evening scene.  I colored the stars with a metallic silver gel pen and then I added some Wink of Stella to the ice chunk for a little more sparkle.

I have a lot of friends and family that live far away so this card will come in handy!

Make sure and head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you do with this sketch!

Penguin Friends

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun sketch from Amy! I love this sketch because it screams simple and between work and other stuff I have going on simple is exactly what I need!

I decided to use this new penguin set from SU called . I adore penguins, they're my number 2 favorite animal, so I could not resist this set. Believe it or not I talk to a lot of folks who think we have penguins here in Alaska, along with our igloos and snow 365/24/7. Oh how I wish!! Between moose and penguins I don't think my husband would ever be able to get me inside and my camera put away LOL

I stamped the penguins and their scarves and then I used a retired SU embossing folder to create a look of falling snow. I then mounted the image panel on some Shaded Spruce and pulled out a Night of Navy card stock. I didn't like how plain the NON base looked so I used the Buffalo Check background stamp to create a little more action on the card base. It's not too overwhelming but at the same time gives a nice contrast. I love how it looks like the penguin on the left is hurrying over to give the one on the right a big hug!

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see how you interpret this sketch!

Stamps: Playful Penguins (SU), Buffalo Check Background Stamp (SU)
Paper: Night of Navy, Shaded Spruce, Whisper White (all SU)

Accessories: Softly Falling TIEF (SU retired)

Penguin Wishes

Happy Hump Day! Does everyone have everything all done for Christmas? Hubby and I went into Anchorage on Saturday and finished our Christmas shopping, and now we just have to pick up a few perishables for Christmas dinner and we are all set. It feels good to be right on track!

With it being Weds that also means that it's time for a new challenge over at The Merry Christmas Challenge blog! As always it's an Anything Goes theme, with the option of using a charm this week.

A friend of mine adores penguins and so I used an adorable penguin from SugarPea Designs to create her card. I just love this little guy all tangled up in Christmas lights! They are a military family currently in transit to a new duty station in Hawaii so this little guy will be there to greet them when they get all settled in.

Make sure to head on over to The Merry Christmas Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! If you are done with your 2017 Christmas cards this is the perfect way to start building your 2018 stash!

Special Delivery

It's been a pretty quiet weekend around the house as I get ready for my wonderful 2 week vacation to end and work to start back up. I'm trying not think about going back to reality so I've locked myself in my craft room the last few nights to get creative.

For this card I played along with the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and the Anything Goes challenge at the SugarPea Designs Challenge blog. I just love this penguin and with Valentines Day next month I thought it would be nice to make a card with him. I chose red accents with just a touch of blue to go with my Valentines theme, coloring the image with copics.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Tropical Christmas for LMMS

It's inspiration week at LMMS and I decided to go tropical. One of my good friends here in Alaska does not like winter at all. She has lived here over 30 years and a few years ago her and her husband decided to make the move to Arizona. Sadly, about a year after moving, her husband was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. Not long after that she moved back up here to be near her kids and grandkids again. However not a day goes by that she doesn't wish for hot weather and bright sun, so this card was made especially for her!

I used the LMMS images Palm Tree and Dexter Caroling. You can find them in the store HERE and HERE. People often think Alaska has penguins, so little Dexter represents my friend escaping to the tropics!

Visit the LMMS FB group and see the rest of the inspiration from the DT. Don't forget, you can still play along with the LMMS Anything Goes challenge also!

You're the Coolest

Yesterday afternoon I was working on another project and ended up discarding the card base because the color and pattern just didn't work with what I was going for. Later that evening I had more time to stamp and so I decided to try the latest Freshly Made Sketch and saw that card base just sitting there and I figured I'd try and make it work. Well, work it did! I love it when things work out like that :)

I used a set from MFT called Penguins in Paradise to create my card. I'm not a fan of tropical weather at all, anything above 70 degrees is way too warm for me, but I adore penguins and this set is just too cute!

I colored in the penguin and palm tree with copics and cut out a circle using the MFT Zig Zag Stitch Circle dies. I adhered the images to the circle and the sentiment banner was created using MFT Blueprints and it was stamped in Pumpkin Pie ink.

Thanks for stopping by!

Toasty Greetings

Just a quick post.....

It's that time of year when finding time to stamp is hard but I needed to make some last minute cards for a military wives Christmas card swap so I sat down and had some fun with some MFT Stamps.

How cute are these guys from the Toasty Greetings set? I can't believe this is the first time I've inked up the set since getting it in November! The stitched horizontal cover up die makes it so easy to create a fun and fast background, I love it!

Have An Ice Day!

For this card I played along with 3 challenges....the SugarPea Designs World Card Making Day Challenge, the SugarPea Design Sketch Challenge and the Jingle Belles winter card challenge.

We love to fish in my house and in the winter the lake across the street from us usually stays busy with people ice fishing for rainbow trout, so that was the inspiration behind this card. I love penguins and this guy is just too cute! It's the perfect image and sentiment to send for a general winter hello.

It's hard to tell in the photo but I added Wink of Stella to the shoreline, the ice the penguin is sitting on and the hat the penguin is wearing. For snow I used a white gel pen for quick dabs on the tree branches.

Thanks for stopping by!

Penguin love for TTS52

This week at 'Tis The Season we have a fun new sketch to play with. I recently got some new goodies from Avery Elle so I used those to create my card!

I love penguins and believe it or not, a lot of folks think we have penguins here in Alaska. Sorry, we don't, they are found at the other pole ;) I do have a craft room of penguin stuff though and these stamps from Avery Elle were just too adorable to pass up. They also come with matching dies which makes things even easier!

I stamped and colored my little family and then I adhered the 3 bigger penguins to the panel, then I popped up the 2 smaller guys in the front. Instead of a bow I just placed ribbon across the front and then turned the scallop border in the other direction. Nice and easy!

Head over to the 'Tis The Season blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us! Christmas is quickly approaching :)

A Penguin Christmas

Isn't this penguin so cute? I just love him! He is from the SugarPeas set 'Have an Ice Day' and it's a great set that's very versatile. This particular card was made with Christmas in mind, as the gals over at Jingle Belles wanted us to use something new, and I just recently got this set.

The layout is from the current sketch at the SugarPea blog and once again I used Lawn Fawn paper from the Snow Day collection. I just love these papers, they are so cute! I went with a black accent since I've got a penguin on my card. It's funny, I get asked all the time if we have penguins in Alaska....um, that would be a no folks! Polar bears yes, moose yes, puffins yes but sadly, penguins are at the other pole :)

The panel with the penguin is popped up with dimensionals and I added some chunky glitter to his hat. The card still looked a bit empty so I added some Basic Black candy dots to finish it off. Inside the card I used sentiments from the set to say "From Our Home To Yours Happy Holidays".

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Holidays Penguin

In between watching football (Go Giants!) and picking my oldest up from work I had some time to stamp this afternoon so I set out to make a card for the Lawnscaping challenge, using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

The challenge at Lawnscaping is to make a project with critters so I pulled out Winter Penguin. I love penguins and had to have this little guy when I saw him! I kept the card simple by just doing some faux stitching around the card base and letting the cute little penguin and sentiment take center stage. The sketch from Freshly Made is perfect for a CAS card. The penguin is popped up with dimensionals, as is the white panel he is adhered to.

Thanks for stopping by!

Here is another card I made with this little guy. I prefer the one above, but my husband and daughter liked this one with the snowflakes:

Stamps: Winter Penguin (Lawn Fawn)
Paper: Kraft (SU retired), Whisper White (SU), Snow Day Paper Pack (Lawn Fawn)
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Old Olive (all SU)
Accessories: White Gel Pen, Basic Pearls (all SU)

Some Christmas Fun to Welcome March

The current challenge over at the Jingle Belles blog is to use stickers, rub-ons or both to make your Christmas card! I guess my brain gets stuck on stamping because I had trouble getting going with this..I just couldn't wrap my mind around the stickers, LOL. I finally got in gear and made 4 cards today, 2 each of the same design.

For my first card I played along again with the sketch over at The Paper Players, as well as with Jingles Belles. As soon as I grabbed these penguins out of my stash I knew the sketch would be perfect for them! My colors on the card come right from the penguins themselves...black with splashes of red, white and green!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: sentiment from Cold Play
Paper: Basic Black, Real Red, Garden Green, Whisper White, AC Patterned Paper
Ink: Garden Green
Accessories: Stickers from Recollections, Small Oval Punch, Modern Label Punch, Real Red Ribbon, Big Shot, Snow Burst Embossing Folder, sponge, dimensionals

My second card is also about letting it snow but this time I've got a snowman in a snow globe to brighten things up, along with more traditional Christmas colors.

Supplies Used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Paper: Naturals White, Marina Mist, Whisper White, S.E.I. Glitzmas/Frosty the Snowflake
Ink: Marina Mist
Accessories: Stickers by Sandylion, Real Red Ribbon, Marina Mist Ribbon, Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Snowflakes Embossing Folder, sponge

Spotlighting Penguins for Friday Mashup!

Hello and welcome to another Friday Mashup challenge, and it's time for me to host again!

If you've been by my blog before its easy to see that I love and adore moose. Well, I also happen to simply adore penguins! How cute are they? My house is filled with moose and penguin items, these 2 animals just always bring a big smile to my face. Today I'd love to see every ones projects that use a penguin image--it's winter(well, at least in this hemisphere!) and what better animal to create a project with when it's cold out? While you are at it spotlight the penguin or anything else in your project! I love the spotlight technique, I think its a great way to get an image to stand out.

For my card I went with some Christmas penguins. I love Christmas cards and make them all year long so I don't see a problem with jolly penguins in February :) I chose to spotlight the middle penguin and his letter "O".

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see all the great projects from the rest of the design team and play along with us! Also, our Fan Favorite Challenge is coming up so submit your idea for a Friday Mashup Challenge!!
