Pendant Park Sympathy

99.9% of the time I love making cards. I love to brighten someones day just a little bit.

Today, that was not the case. I dreaded making this card. On Weds my friends husband died after a 2 yr battle with lung cancer. Even though we knew the end was soon and I'm happy that he is not suffering anymore, I hate that I have to make a sympathy card for a widow and her 4 children.

I went with the Color Throwdown Challenge for this week(my first time playing along with this blog I believe!) and the Sketch Challenge from Splitcoast.

These are the colors for the Throwdown blog:

And the sketch:

Fathers Day

I wanted to do something special for my dad for Fathers Day. He was diagnosed with cancer in Nov. and its been a long road. He was recently told that the cancer was gone but unfortunately the chemo and radiation has really wreaked havoc on his body and he isnt recuperating as quickly as he hoped. So I was trying to think of something that I could do to help cheer him up.

He's a wonderful grandpa and I know how much he misses my kids so just a few days ago a light bulb went off. I belong to Club S.E.I. and one of the kits I had gotten recently was a scrapbook kit and the colors would be perfect for a guy! I got all the pictures, sat down and worked on it all weekend. I have to say, I am VERY happy with the way it came out and I cant wait to talk to my dad and hear what he thinks of it(he lives in CO, so I mailed it out today).

This is the front of the album. I went to JoAnns and bought some chipboard to spell out 'Papa'. I sponged the A's with Green Galore and used Mod Podge to affix DSP from To the Nines Specialty. I sanded the edges and then inked them with Basic Gray. The heart is sponged with Riding Hood Red.
And here is one of the pages, and then the very last page of the book:

When I finished the scrapbook I also went ahead and made a card for my dad. The base is Kraft and I used Versamark and a circle from the 'Smile' set to make the background of circles.

Neglected

Yes, this blog has been terribly neglected. Even though the hubby made me a nice craft space I just havent done much stamping lately.

I made the time today to sit down and work on a card. I decided to use the Thursday challenge on Splitcoast, which is Ways To Use It, and todays theme is No Place Like Home.

I've had this particular stamp since 1988 and its one of my favorites, so I grabbed that to use, especially since I havent made any Christmas cards at all this yr. I really like the old fashioned, rustic feel it gives off.

I used Liquid Applique on the trees and windows(just squeeze it on,then use a heat gun to dry,it gets all puffy) and then I used Dazzling Diamonds for the snow on the roof and ground..

The card base is Chocolate Chip and for a background I sprayed it with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz. It was my first time using it and while it was a tad messy I did like the overall effect.

Supplies used(all supplies Stampin'Up! unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Many Merry Messages, misc stamp
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Riding Hood Red
Ink: Black StazOn, Chocolate Chip, Close To Cocoa,Glorious Green, Garden Green, Real Red, Ruby Red, Brocade Blue, So Saffron
Accessories: SU Alpine Ribbon, Liquid Applique-white,Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz,Dazzling Diamonds
