Ornament Joy

Whew! I've been laid up with a NASTY cold since last Friday and until today haven't made it out of bed except to eat and use the bathroom, so needless to say I was a bit worried about whether or not I could get this challenge done. Thankfully I woke up feeling a bit better today and this card was on the top of my to do list!

Over at the Jingle Belles blog they teamed up with the Sketchy Thursdays for a group challenge, and its a sketch challenge. Even better, you can link up your card to BOTH sites and be entered for some prizes.  Its like Christmas in February!

Its a nice simple sketch and so I wanted to keep the card simple, nothing overwhelming. I ended up using the Delightful Decorations ornaments and ornament punch. The ornament is popped up with dimensionals as is the sentiment, to give the card a bit of lift.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Delightful Decorations, Small Script, Many Merry Messages(sentiment inside card, not shown)
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Jolly Holiday DSP
Ink: Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler

Spring Colors

If you go back to this Santa card you'll see that I had submitted it over at the Friday Mashup blog for the sketch challenge and WOW, my card was chosen as that weeks favorite and I was named a Mashup Maven! How awesome is that? I love that blog and those ladies so it meant a lot to me! It also meant that I was going to be a guest designer for the Mashup Challenge #32. I got a sneak peek at what Holly came up with and its an inspiration challenge. As soon as I saw the colors I instantly thought of spring and flowers.

To help me along I also used this weeks sketch over at Stamping 411, combining 2 great challenges!

Go check out the Friday Mashup blog to see all the great cards for this challenge and please, join in! Its a great trio of gals that runs the blog and they really have some amazingly creative minds!

Whats On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 88

If you've visited me for this challenge before then it wont be a surprise to see that my desk is still quite messy :) Today I took the picture after working on a Christmas card so the ink I used is still out, plus some embossing powder I was going to use but then I didnt like the way it looked on the card and ditched it, LOL.

I was thinking about cleaning up my desk this weekend but yeah, that just wont work,LOL. On Sunday my family and I are headed right down the road to Big Lake, where we'll drive onto the lake to watch the start of the Iron Dog, the worlds longest and toughest snowmachine race! I guess I'll just have to let my space stay messy for a bit longer, hehehe(and yes, I know there is plenty of time between now and Sun, shhhhhhh).

Head over to Julias blog to check out all the other Workdesk? Wednesday submissions!

Christmas Collage

Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas and that I love to make Christmas cards. A recent visitor to my site, Paige, told me about a challenge blog she frequents called Jingle Belles and as soon as I checked it out I knew I had to jump into a challenge.

This weeks challenge is "No red, she said" and that means.....make a Christmas card with absolutely no red at all! I knew instantly what stamp I wanted to use and what I was going to do.

I grabbed my Christmas Collage stamp and inked it up with Night of Navy on some Whisper White cardstock. I then took a blender pen and an Old Olive watercolor crayon and colored in the holly leaves on the card. The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy, cut out and popped up with dimensionals.

I really like the way this card came out and I think I'm going to make 10 more for the month of March for the Christmas card challenge over at Splitcoast.

As always, thanks for looking!

Warm thoughts

This week over at the Friday Mashup blog Shirley is hosting the challenge and she chose a Valentine theme. Yesterday was Valentines Day and honestly, in my house its just another day. We have always believed in showing love and kindness towards each other every day and if my husband and I feel the need to surprise each other with special things we just do it :) Plus our wedding anniversary is Feb.5th so there is plenty of love to go around! Hubby did bring home chocolate for me and the 3 kids so that was a nice little treat and we were all happy, and thats what matters!

I decided to go with a very simple, girly card. I like simple, but girly isnt always my thing, so its a bit out of the box for me. I think the card came together nicely though. I ran the card base of Whisper White through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder and for a little sparkle I covered the heart with Xmas Red Stickles.

Supplies(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Greeting Card Kids, sentiment from Filled With Love
Paper: Whisper White, Pretty In Pink
Ink: Black StazOn, Real Red
Accessories: SU Markers, Pretty In Pink ribbon, Nestabilities Circle diecuts, CB Swiss Dots embossing folder, Xmas Red Stickles

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 87

I havent participated in the Workdesk challenge in quite a while. I think it was before I lost my dad, so at least 5 months, yikes! No time like the present to try and get back into the various challenges right?

Unfortunately this week I dont have much to show except for a big fat mess. I was working on a card for the Friday Mashup and Stamping 411 blogs but as you can see I have much stuff piled up around me. I need to take a day and organize(again) my craft area. But for now this is the mess that surrounds me! If you want to see some awesome desks and projects go check out all the submissions over at Whats On Your Workdesk? Wednesday!

Be Happy

As I was sitting at my desk making this card today I had Bobby McFerrins song "Dont Worry Be Happy" in my head the entire time! Remember that tune?

Anyway, todays card combines 2 challenges. The first is from the Friday Mashup blog and this week was Holly's turn, and she chose a color challenge. I wasnt too sure about the Peach Parfait but in the end I think it all came together well.

The sketch is from this weeks challenge over at the Stamping 411 blog. I ended up spacing out the brads above the image because my daughter(the toughest critic you'll ever meet, geez) didnt like them all together. She was home sick today and let me tell you, dont even try and bother arguing with a sick 15 year old girl! LOL

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps-Darling Dots, Quick Thinking
Paper- River Rock, Pink Pirouette, Peach Parfait, Whisper White
Ink- River Rock, Pink Pirouette, Peach Parfait
