Good Things for Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday from snow covered southcentral Alaska! For the 3rd weekend in a row we've gotten a large dumping of snow, with yesterdays storm bringing us 10" of beautiful new snow. Needless to say I am loving it, this is the Alaska I know and love!

Sunday also means a new challenge at Sunday Stamps and this week we have a color challenge. These colors are so pretty together, I really loved them the minute I saw them but I have to admit I was a bit stumped on what to do. Then Freshly Made Sketches posted this weeks sketch and I took off from there!

I really wanted to use flowers on my card so I grabbed the SU set You've Got This. This is such a pretty set and one of my all time favorites. I stamped the flowers and only kept the top petal portion in order to keep inline with the sketch. I used a copic marker to color the flower a Calypso Coral color. For the brown I used Soft Suede DSP and the card base is the lighter pink color, Blushing Bride. I popped the flowers up for extra dimension. I really love how this card came out!

So from the color challenge the 3 colors I chose to use were : the brown (far left), lighter pink (2nd from the right), the coral color (far right) and just a touch of black and white as my neutrals.

Make sure you head on over to Sunday Stamps to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! There is also a little bit of time left at Freshly Made Sketches to play along with them if you want too!

Wish Big for Sketch Saturday

Happy Saturday! It's time for another sketch over at Sketch Saturday and it's also my final challenge as January guest DT. I'd like to thank the Sketch Saturday team for having me, I had a lot of fun!

This sketch has so many possibilities, I really love it! I decided to use this sweet digital stamp from LMMS called Val's Butterfly. This little elephant just makes me smile every time I look at her.

I started with a gray card base that I embossed with a CB folder and then I die cut my patterned paper to fit the front. The sentiment is from a retired SU set and was colored with markers and then stamped on white. I backed the white strip with the gray cardstock. Val was colored with copics and then popped up with dimensionals.

Make sure you head on over to the Sketch Saturday blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! The challenge this week is sponsored by A Day For Daisies, and you have a chance to win a $12.00 GC to their shop!

Flurry of Love

It's time for a new challenge over at Sketch Saturday and since it's been cold and snowy here in Alaska I created a fun winter themed card that would be perfect for Valentines Day!

This week the sketch is sponsored by Digital Stamp Boutique and they are offering up a $10.00 gift card to their store as a prize! I used an adorable image from them called Lulu-Snow Love. I absolutely adore snow and since we just got over a foot of new snow last weekend, with more due tonight, this image is perfect for me!

I colored the image in with copics and then used a circle die from MFT to cut her out. The DSP is retired paper from Stampin Up and I used a punch to round the corners. On the card base I used Baja Breeze ink to stamp snowflakes, to tie in the winter theme. The sentiment is from an MFT set.

Make sure you head over to Sketch Saturday to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! Don't forget to browse the Digital Stamp Boutique store to see all of the great images they offer!

Love You for LMMS

Happy Thursday from snowy Alaska! Over the weekend we got over a foot of snow and these last few days we've had a true arctic blast...as I write this the temp at my house is negative 34 degrees! After several years of non winter like weather here in southcentral Alaska it is nice to have winter again!

It's also time for some Little Miss Muffet Stamps inspiration again. As soon as I spotted the Polka Dot Pal Rosalie I had to have her, as she is signing " I love you". My oldest son is deaf so of course the "I love you" sign is used all the time in our family.

Since Rosalie has flip flops on I went with the color of the summer sun, a nice bright yellow. My deaf son happens to love the color yellow and it actually didn't occur to me until after I finished the card how that worked out :) I had to throw in one of my favorite colors, blue.

Make sure you are a part of the LMMS FB group and come on by there to see what kind of inspiration the rest of the DT came up with! Don't forget, there is still time to play along with the LMMS Anything Goes challenge also.

Patriotic Stars for Sunday Stamps

It's time for a new sketch at Sunday Stamps and this week I went patriotic, as that's the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the stars.

Now, I'm a very literal person so when I see a sketch with certain shapes I almost never change it up, it's just one of my weird little quirks. When I saw the stars the American flag came to mind and the card came together pretty quickly after that.

I used SU Star framelits and cut 3, just like the sketch, to go down the right side of the card. Because my main layer was white I decided to do 2 small blue stars and make the the larger one in the middle red. The sentiment is one of my favorite quotes and is from a set that retired from SU last year. It's one I'll always use though, patriotic cards are always something I need in my stash. To try and mimic the look of stripes I used a a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! Feel free to change the star shapes to anything you want!

Monkey Love for Sketch Saturday

It's Saturday and that means it's time for another challenge at Sketch Saturday! This week the sketch is sponsored by Miss Tiina and she is offering the chance to win a $20.00 gift card to her store for those that play along.

I used one of the sock money images for my card, which can be found in the Miss Tiina store HERE. How cute is he with the string of hearts he is holding up? I used copics to color the image an kept it very simple, since I want the image to be the main focus of the card.

I used some Chocolate Chip DSP for the background and to stay with the sketch I placed some retired SU Real Red Ribbon across the back of the image panel and tied it off in a knot in the upper right.

Make sure you head over to the Sketch Saturday blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Flowers for LMMS

Happy Thursday! It's time for another challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog and this week I went with an image that is perfect for Valentines Day, this sweet elephant holding a bouquet of flowers in her trunk. The image is called Val Gives Flowers and you can find it HERE.

I colored in the image with copics, used my ScanNCut to cut it out and then popped it up with dimensionals against the white circle. The sentiment banner is from a SugarPea Designs set called Special Delivery.

Make sure you head over to the LMMS blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Special Delivery

It's been a pretty quiet weekend around the house as I get ready for my wonderful 2 week vacation to end and work to start back up. I'm trying not think about going back to reality so I've locked myself in my craft room the last few nights to get creative.

For this card I played along with the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and the Anything Goes challenge at the SugarPea Designs Challenge blog. I just love this penguin and with Valentines Day next month I thought it would be nice to make a card with him. I chose red accents with just a touch of blue to go with my Valentines theme, coloring the image with copics.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sketchy Moose

It's Saturday and I've got exciting news to share. For the month of January I'll be a guest designer over at Sketch Saturday! I love sketch challenges so I'm thrilled to be working with the awesome team over there. Today's Sketch Saturday challenge is sponsored by Little Miss Muffet Stamps, how fun is that?!

For my card I chose to use the Moose Love image. While we are still below normal for snow in my part of Alaska the snow we do have is helping bring down the moose from the hills into the lower elevations. Tonight my friend down the road looked out her front door to see 2 moose licking the salt off her truck! How fun is that?

I love sketches like this because they really allow the image to take center stage and that's what I did on my card...I printed out the LMMS image, colored it with copics, used my ScanNCut to cut out the image and then popped it up with dimensionals on my card. Because Valentines Day is just around the corner I went with a color scheme of red, kraft and white with just a touch of soft blue thrown in.

Make sure you head over to the Sketch Saturday blog to see the great inspiration from the DT and then play along with us! You can visit the LMMS store HERE to grab the Moose Love image or any of their other fun digital stamps! By playing along with Sketch Saturday this week you have the chance to win a $6.00 gift card to the LMMS store.

Ho Ho Whoa

I recently discovered Mo's Digital Pencil (I know, I know, I must have been under a rock) and just had to get this image. We're big Christmas decorators and are friends with many other extreme decorators so this image is perfect for mailing out in 2017 to a few friends. It's great to already be done with some cards for Christmas 2017 (I made 6 total of this card)!

I printed out the image and then colored it with copics. After cutting down the image panel to the size I wanted I cut a green panel in the same size and then just adhered them in opposite directions on top of the patterned paper background. The background is bold and fun but doesn't take away from the main image, which is perfect.

For the inside sentiment I think I'm going to print out a quote from National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, I just haven't decided which one to use yet.

I also discovered Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge Blog so I'm entering this into the Anything Goes Challenge!

Presents for Jingle Bells

It's a new year and that means it's time for new challenges over at my favorite Christmas blog, Jingle Belles! This week they want us to make a card with presents on it, so I used this image from MFT called Overflowing Joy. I just love these Pure Innocence stamps, they are so cute!

I decided to stick with traditional red and green colors so used that in both my coloring of the image and the background paper. The image was colored with copics, fussy cut and then popped up for dimension.

My layout came from this weeks sketch challenge at MFT.

Thanks for stopping by!

LMMS You're Fantastic

The Anything Goes challenge at LMMS has been extended until next week so today the LMMS DT is providing some inspiration cards for you!

For my card I went with Polka Dot Pal Ida, a relatively new image. I just love the sass in her pose and even though I'm not a fan of the color pink, it's the first color that comes to my mind when I look at this image, go figure!

I colored her with pinks and then used a soft blue as an accent. The patterned paper and sentiment are all retired SU that I thought went perfectly with this sassy girl.

Head over to the LMMS Anything Goes challenge HERE to play along and visit the LMMS store HERE to purchase the digital image I used for today's card!

SSC143 Winter Frost

This week at Sunday Stamps we have a color challenge for you, full of cool winter colors. I'm not even going to lie, this one was hard for me because I absolutely despise the color purple (and pink) so I don't have much purple in my stash at all. I kept going back to the graphic over the course of several days trying to jump start my brain and get my mojo working.

The photo in the graphic reminds me of winter in Alaska. We spent a good portion of Nov and Dec in negative temps and ended up with a lot of hoarfrost on the trees. Our skies also turn a very pretty pink/purple during sunsets and we get alpenglow on the mountains that surround the valley I live in. This is the inspiration I drew from for my card.

My card base is Perfect Plum and I used some patterned paper from MFT for the background. I then used the Log Cabin Mountainscape Die from SugarPea Designs as my main focal point. I've got a little house in the woods surrounded by trees and mountains so that's what I was thinking of when using this die. I used Wisteria Wonder for the mountain tops, to mimic the color one might see as the alpenglow fades and shadows fall. I used an embossing folder from SU for the snow across the ground.

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!
