Merry Moose in Spring

The calendar may say its spring but I have winter and Christmas on my mind so I made a Christmas card for the current SugarPea Designs sketch challenge. I came close to the deadline this time, yikes! There hasn't been enough play time lately!

I adore this moose, he is just too cute. I used some older retired SU Christmas DSP to highlight him, with the main colors being Real Red and Old Olive. I did something a little different with his rack, using my W family Copics to color him in. A bull moose's rack is always lighter than their coat and depending on the light often looks like a grayish-brown color, especially after they have shed their velvet.

I meant to put some snow on the trees behind the moose but forgot to do that, I got too busy yakking to my kids, ooops! I'll have to go back and add some with my white gel pen later.

Make sure you head over to the SugarPea Designs blog and play along with their challenges! A random winner is chosen and you get a $10.00 gift certificate, plus they bump it to $15.00 if you use their products. How awesome is that? I recently one one of their gift certificates and ordered some really adorable sets from them, so stay tuned for those!

I'm off to Wasilla for dinner with the family, I hope everyone is having a great day and thanks for stopping by!

*I'm playing along with the Let's Get The Party Started linky party at Paper Issues* (what better party to celebrate than Christmas!)

Stamps: Merry Christmoose (SugarPea Designs)

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Old Olive, Real Red, Old Olive Blendabilities, various Copics

Masculine Moose for Friday Mashup

It's time for another Friday Mashup and this week Breelin is our host. She has a great sketch for us and also wants us to make a masculine card.

Next to Christmas cards masculine cards are my favorite card to make so I was excited to see this challenge. I pulled out my favorite set, Walk in the Wild, because of course it's all about the moose! My daughter took a summer job at Denali National Park and I have to take her up there in a few weeks, prime moose calving season. I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of some mama's and their babies, fingers crossed!

I am always in need of birthday cards so that's what I went with on this card. I pulled the colors from the Moonlight DSP paper stack.

Make sure to head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the team has come up with and then play along with us!

Feeling Patriotic for Friday Mashup

Happy Friday! A big thank you to everyone that joined The Friday Mashup  200th celebration! It was fun to see the past challenges everyone chose and to check out all the blogs! Make sure you checked the announcement of winners on The Friday Mashup blog, I know people are excited to see if they won prizes from any of the great sponsors!

We're back with a new mashup and this week it's coming to us from Amy. She's a new member to the DT and this is her first time bringing us a mashup so make sure you stop by and play along!

Amy would like us to use the colors Rich Razzleberry,Pacific Point and Smoky Slate. She would also like to see some type of see through element on our project.

I haven't used the 'For Your Country' set in a while and it's one of my favorites so I thought now would be a good time. My husband and I are both Navy veterans and I thought these colors would be good for a patriotic card since about 95% of our friends are either still in the military or have some other type of military connection.

I used Smoky Slate and the Gorgeous Grunge set to stamp images and splatter on the front of the card, and then I took Pacific Point and added additional splatter (that's the Navy being represented :) ). For the bottom of the card I adhered some Rich Razzleberry DSP and added 2 Smoky Slate candy dots. My see through element is a piece of vellum with the sentiment stamped on it.

Come on by The Friday Mashup and see what the rest of the DT did, and then play along with us!

  • Create a project using Rich Razzleberry, Smoky Slate & Pacific Point*".
  • Create a project with a "See-thru element (window, acetate, vellum).
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project "using the colors above and a see thru element".

Stamps: For Your Country, Gorgeous Grunge
Paper: Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry DSP (retired), Vellum
Ink: Smoky Slate, Pacific Point, Black StazOn
Accessories: Smoky Slate Candy Dots

Getting Foxy

Have you ever had a day where you are trying to be crafty but nothing is going right? That was my day today. I sat down to play along with the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and the color challenge at Sunday Stamps and nothing was coming together for me. I finally stepped away from my desk to shower and go make dinner and then when I came back this is what I ended up with. I can guarantee you that after my first few attempts this card is SO much better!

I used the Foxy Friend set from SugarPea Designs, I had colored him last week and he's been waiting for a home! The title at Sunday Stamps is "What Does the Fox Say".....I had given my friend Holly grief because I HATE that song. I told her I wasn't going to play along solely because of the title she used for this weeks challenge but I'm not that mean (although I am still using naughty words in my head for her making me think of that awful song).

I deviated from the sketch just a tad by having the fox fill in as the circle shape and instead of a banner I popped the fox up over a piece of So Saffron. I think the sketch is still visible, at least I hope so!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out both Freshly Made Sketches and Sunday Stamps, 2 of my favorite challenge blogs!

Stamps: Foxy Friend (SugarPea Designs)

Headed to the Beach for TTS38!

This week at 'Tis The Season we have an inspiration photo and it's all about the beach! I'm pretty traditional when it comes to Christmas cards so I had to think about this one for a little bit. In the end I went with the colors from the photo...sand(kraft), gold and red.

I used the Star Framelits to cut a small star out of Gold Glimmer paper and then I die cut the 2 ornaments and placed them on either side of the star. I adhered them all on a piece of Very Vanilla backed with a piece of Real Red. The bottom of the image panel above the scallops looked a bit plain so to keep with the gold theme I added some gold stretch cord. I heat embossed the sentiment under the panel and called it good. A nice CAS card, perfect for mass producing!

I hope you'll come by and join us at 'Tis The Season, only 280 days left until Christmas!

Paper: Kraft(retired), Real Red, Very Vanilla, Gold Glimmer Paper

Simple Flowers for Paper Players

This week The Paper Players have a CAS floral theme as their challenge. I had pulled this image out on Sunday to color as part of the The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge when I remembered seeing the PP post in my blog feed earlier in the day. I love it when things come together like that!

I wanted this image to be the main focal point of the card so I stamped it a bit off center, colored it in, adhered it to a black card base and then did some paper piercing around the edges to finish it off. I really like how the this image stands alone so well!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out The Paper Players and The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge!

Bright Dasher for TTS

This week at 'Tis The Season we have a nice simple sketch! I decided to break out one of my favorite stamps, Dasher. I also played along with the current Jingle Belles challenge, which was an inspiration photo. I used the colors and reindeer.

I really like the white against the bright colors, it really stands out! To give the card a little more pop I paper pierced along the edges of the card and the main elements.

Head over to the 'Tis The Season blog to play along with us, and check out the Jingle Belles blog as well!
