It's time for Sunday Stamps and this week Joan is bringing us a fabulous color challenge! She wants us to use the colors Gumball Green, Marina Mist and Soft Suede. Now Joan picked them because these hues remind her of fall but as soon as I saw them I instantly thought snowmen!! I've been in a snow mood and can you believe it, this morning we woke up to a dusting of snow! I was so excited! I was also jealous because parts of Anchorage (which is an hour south of me) got over 5 inches of snow....I cant wait for that!

Make sure you head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to check out all the great projects from the rest of the design team and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you do with these great colors!

Leaves and Twine for Friday Mashup

Welcome to another Friday Mashup! Lisa here with this weeks challenge for you!

Even though I am a winter girl I do enjoy autumn and here in southcentral Alaska it seems our autumn is just about over(and it's always short to begin with!). Most of the leaves are off the trees and the weather forecasters are saying the higher elevations in the area could see the first snowfall this weekend, woohooo! Until the snow flies though I do enjoy looking at the carpet of leaves in my yard, the beautiful oranges and yellows that fade the longer they lay there. To keep with the fall spirit I'd like to see projects that have autumn inspired leaves on them and while you're at it, go ahead and add some twine to your project! Or you can do a project that has twine on it and no leaves, that's all good too!

You will notice that I forgot to put twine on my card. I had every intention to do that, it is my challenge after all LOL, but I was concentrating so much on everything else that I forgot. Oooops!

Thanks to everyone that comes to play with us weekly, we really enjoy seeing all of your submissions! Make sure to head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see the rest of the great projects from the design team, and then play along with us!

Fall Feelings for Friday Mashup

Happy Friday from a soggy and flooding southcentral Alaska! Our storms have brought several inches of rain to my area and there is a lot going on, one of those issues being my internet cutting in and out, ugh!! Of course compared to the people whose homes are flooding my internet going out isnt that bad. I love the rain but hopefully we dry out soon.

Heidi has a great challenge this week over at The Friday Mashup....she wants us to create a project with an Indian summer in mind, create a project using 3 of these colors :Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Raspberry Ripple, Lucky Limeade & Early Espresso or mash it up and create an Indian summer project using 3 of the colors. I love this image from Fall Blessings and chose it to represent an Indian summer. It reminds me of when we lived in MA and CT and we'd go to pumpkin farms and just enjoy a beautiful fall day with endless blue skies. For the color portion I ended up using all of the colors listed in one fashion or another!

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup to see the other great projects from the rest of the design team!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:

Make a "Indian Summer" themed project.
Or Make a project with any three colors from "Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Raspberry Ripple, Lucky Limeade & Early Espresso".
Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Indian Summer Themed project with the color combo".

Merry Moose for Merry Monday

Sneaking in a card while I can...we did indeed lose power on Monday, but thankfully only for a few hrs. Now we're in the middle of yet another storm with wind gusts over 60 mph (over 100mph in the Anchorage area) and so the power going out again is a big possibility. We have a wood stove and our stove is run by gas so at least we can stay warm and eat when the power goes out :)

Today's card is for the Merry Monday challenge. Now I will fully admit to being a SU snob and generally only buy their stamps but when I saw this moose stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs at a local stamp store I HAD to have it. I mean hello, it's a moose AND Christmas. Perfect!

I wish I could get a better picture, because this one does not do the card justice. It is so cute in person, I just love it. I'm definitely going to have to make more to send out to family and friends at Christmas!

Stamps: Merry Kiss Moose from Whipper Snapper Designs
Paper: True Thyme(SU retired), Cherry Cobbler, Watercolor Paper, PP from My Minds Eye
Ink: Black StazOn, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Baja Breeze
Accessories: Cherry Cobbler ribbon, Aquapainter, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Big Shot, Snowburst EF, sponge, dimensionals

Color Combo for Sunday Stamps and Freshly Made 1 Year

We've got a big storm moving into the area bringing high winds and lots of rain so I'm getting this post up a little early just in case the power goes out, which happened 2 weeks ago with the last storm!

It's time for Sunday Stamps and this week Holly has a color combo for us...Melon Mambo, Pool Party and Basic Black. I'm not going to lie, these colors threw me a little bit. I was going to do a Halloween card but then I decided to go out of the box and use these colors for a Christmas card. I'm pretty traditional when it comes to Christmas...I like the red and greens...so that's why using these colors was out of the box for me.

For my sketch I played along with Freshly Made Sketches and their one year celebration. I chose to use sketch #21, I just really like the lines of this one!

I wish I had been able to get a better picture, mine came out awfully dark. This card is so cute in person, I am really happy with the way it came out!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Wonderful Winterland, Itty Bitty Banners
Paper: Pool Party, Basic Black, Whisper White, Melon Mambo DSP (retired)
Ink: Black StazOn, Pool Party, Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake, Basic Black
Accessories: Big Shit, Nestabilities (Standard Circles and Lacey Circles), Bitty Banners Framelits, sponge, dimensionals

Sketchy Starburst Gratitude

It's Friday and time for another Friday Mashup challenge. Our challenge this week is brought to us by Rita, who is back from maternity leave! We are so excited to have her back, we all missed her!

The challenge is a fun one......you can either create a project using the "starburst technique", create a project using the provided sketch OR you can mash it up and use the starburst technique with the sketch!

I chose to mash it up and pulled out my very favorite fall DSP ever, SU's Spice Cake. I really wish this paper had made it into a catalog and not just a holiday mini, its so pretty! I also wish I had bought at least 10 packages of it but alas I didnt, and pretty soon the paper will be gone :(

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup blog to welcome Rita back and to check out the rest of the great projects from the design team!
  1. Make a project with the sketch.
  2. Or Make a project with "Starburst technique".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project using the "sketch and starburst technique".

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Seasonal Sentiments
Paper: Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Spice Cake DSP
Ink: Soft Suede

Skating Through For Merry Monday

I've got a lovely treat this week....I was asked to be a guest designer for today's Merry Monday challenge, as Lesley chose my snowman card as last weeks winner. I love Christmas cards and this challenge, so of course I am super excited!

Lesley has a great sketch for us this week and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to use the ice skates image from the 'Winter Memories" set. I just love this set and hadn't inked up this particular image yet. I've also got snow on the brain, since the mountains that surround the valley I live in just got their first dusting of the white stuff and Denali Natl Park, 150 miles north of me, got a couple of inches over the weekend! Therefore I decided to just use the same snowflake DSP for all the elements of this sketch. I did change the 2nd strip across the middle by moving it to the right and making it a small strand of silver stretch cord instead of paper. I added some Dazzling Details and Stickles to help give the image a little 'pop'.

Make sure you head over to the Merry Monday challenge over at Always Playing With Paper and check out the rest of the great cards from the design team, and then make sure you play along. Christmas is only 105 days away! :)

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Winter Memories,  snowflakes from Jolly Old Saint Nick
Paper: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Snow Festival DSP
Ink: Black StazOn, Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand, Gumball Green
Accessories: Dazzling Details-Cherry Cobbler, Silver Stickles, Silver Stretch Cord, Coluzzle, Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots EF, Blender Pen, Watercolor Pencils, sponge, dimensionals

Gratitude for Sunday Stamps

Ugh, why must the weekend go so fast? I cant believe Sunday is already here, however.....one good thing about Sunday is that its time for Sunday Stamps! Monica is our hostess this week and she has a great sketch for us!

I went with another fall card and I think this is a great sketch to let your DSP do all the talking, so I kept it pretty simple! I just love the Lucky Limeade and Chocolate Chip together!

Make sure you head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to check out the projects from the rest of the design team!

Back to School for Friday Mashup

Hello and happy Friday to everyone! Are you ready for the weekend? I sure am! I've got lots of chores to do, such as splitting and stacking wood, in preparation for winter(which is quickly approaching here, our mountains just got their first dusting of snow!).

With the arrival of September Holly has a great challenge for us this week at The Friday Mashup....a back to school project! You can also do a project that has sewing on it OR you can mash it up and do a back to school project that has sewing on it.

Here in southcentral Alaska students go back to school in the middle of August but growing up my schools always started after the Labor Day holiday weekend, so for me back to school invokes images of fall, and that's what I went with for my card. I added the "You Inspire Me" sentiment so that way it could be a perfect card for a teacher still!

However I was a bad girl and forgot to do any sewing on my card. I got the card finished, went back and looked at the challenge and went "oh crap". Sorry Holly!

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup blog to check out all the great projects from the rest of the design team!

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:

  1. Make a "Back to School" themed project.
  2. Or Make a project with "Sewing".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Back to School project with Sewing".

Halloween Greetings for Freshly Made

Sat down yesterday to get this card made, lost power due to fallen trees from a storm that hit the area and by the time we got power back I had left for work so I made time today to get this card done for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

I haven't done any Halloween cards yet, and I normally don't make many to begin with, so I thought I would go ahead with that theme for this card. I went into my paper stash and lo and behold I found a packet of Halloween DSP I had never opened! Does that mean I have a DSP hoarding problem? LOL

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: House of Haunts
Paper: Basic Black, Peach Parfait, Very Vanilla, Pick Your Poison DSP
Ink: Black StazOn, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait
Accessories: Scallop Edge Border Punch, Basic Black Brads, sponge, dimensonals

A Birdy Birthday for Sunday Stamps

It's time for Sunday Stamps and ((gasp)) ys, I have my act together and am able to get my card in this week! Getting my schedule switched back to nights from days took me a bit longer than I thought but I am good to go and ready to be a good DT member :)

This week Tara has a color challenge for us, using the colors Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade and Wisteria Wonder.

I cant lie...I am not a fan of the color purple at all, so fitting Wisteria Wonder in was a bit of a struggle for me. I finally decided to use it as an accent and I think I managed to make myself happy with this minimal use of the color :)

I didnt get the card done in time to link up but I did want to acknowledge that I used the sketch from last weeks Retro Sketch challenge!

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog and check out the rest of the projects from the DT team. This is a new blog and we'd love to see more people participating!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Aviary, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Sahara Sand DSP
Ink: Baic Black, Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots EF, Lucky Limeade Ribbon, Modern Label Punch, sponge, dimensionals

Welcome September!

Its the first day of September and I am completely in fall mode! Here in southcentral Alaska the leaves are starting to change color, birds are stocking up on seeds and we have a high of about 50 degrees and lots of rain right now.

I was looking through my card stash and I definitely dont have enough fall cards so when I sat down to stamp last night I knew I wanted to make a fall themed project. The set  Full of Blessings, which is in the SU holiday catalog, was a perfect choice. I just love this scene of pumpkins in a field! The Alaska Fair is going on right now and the winning pumpkin was over 900 lbs! It was a small one this yr because of all the rain :) Usually they are over 1000 pounds!

I hope that wherever you live, the first day of September is treating you well!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Full of Blessings
Paper: Peach Parfait, Soft Suede, Watercolor Paper, Everyday Enchantment DSP
Ink: Black StazOn, Soft Suede, Peach Parfait, More Mustard, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, Summer Starfruit, Pool Party
Accessories: Aquapainter, Photo Corners Punch, sponge
