Friday Mashup with Snowmen

For the latest Friday Mashup challenge the lovely ladies over there said make a snowman card!! I promised my friend Holly that I would really try to get myself back into challenges again so today, after I got some Thanksgiving stuff ready, I sat down to get a card done.

Friday Mashup!

Its the end of November in southcentral Alaska so you think I'd have enough snow to make a snowman. Well, if the snowman was to be made of ice it would be no problem. This week we were hit with an ice storm and we were stuck in the house Mon and Tues, with schools cancelled Tues and today. Tomorrow we're supposed to get snow and colder temps again so its just going to make driving horrendous. Thank goodness we never go anywhere for Thanksgiving!

Anyway, for this card I used one of my all-time favorite snowman sets, Flaky Friends. These snowmen are just too cute! The card base is Garden Green, and I used some Candy Cane Christmas DSP also. The image and sentiment are both stamped on Whisper White. I used a glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds to create a little layer of snow below the snowmen. The sentiment is popped up with dimensionals and in person it gives it a really nice look that the camera just doesnt pick up.

Supplies(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps- Flake Friends, Many Merry Messages
Paper- Garden Green, Whisper White, Candy Cane Christmas DSP
Ink- Black StazOn, Real Red
Accessories- Various SU markers, Real Red ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds, sponge, dimensionals

Bells and Boughs

I actually got a card done this week! My goal was to make a card everyday but I should have known that was going to be asking too much for this week. There are just too many reminders of my dad this week, with the Marine Corps birthday today, Veterans Day tomorrow and his birthday Fri. I cant concentrate enough to get many cards done but hey, I got 1 finished and thats better than none right?

I'm desperately behind on Christmas cards so I made one using the Bells and Boughs set out of the Christmas mini. I love the old fashioned feel to this set. I used Old Olive for the card base with layers of Jolly Holiday DSP, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and some Old Olive run through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. I also used some Old Olive ribbon on the card.

The sketch is from this weeks Mojo Monday.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Bells and Boughs
Paper: Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Jolly Holiday DSP
Ink: Black StazOn, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories:  Various SU markers, Old Olive ribbon, CB Swiss Dots folder, Nestabilities Circles, dimensionals

For All You Do--MDS card

I had some free time this afternoon so I decided to play with the SU My Digital Studio some more. I really wanted to make a card for my my dad's girlfriend, who I pretty much consider my stepmom. The entire yr that my dad battled his cancer she was right by his side and did so much for him, it was just amazing. When my dad left this world Oct.2nd she was right by his side and I know with every ounce of my being that if it hadnt been for her love he wouldnt have made it as long as he did. I love her, and I want her to always know how much I appreciate everything she has done. She is currently out of state from where her and my dad lived, visiting her mom down south, so I created this card so I could post it on her Facebook and just let her know that I was thinking about her.

I used Soft Suede as the base color, then layers of Sunny Day DSP in Pumpkin Pie. The stamps are from For All You Do and I used the colors Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler. The ribbon is Old Olive.

Help from Holly

So I recently signed back up with SU as a demo and got the My Digital Studio program. I havent had much time to play with it and when I have I've gotten a bit frustrated and gave up. Today my friend Holly met up with me on Yahoo Messenger and walked me through it. This is the card I created with her guiding me through the different functions offered with MDS.

Thank you Holly!!

We used the Sweet Sunday Sketch and I have to admit, when she told me I was going to be using that sketch I was like " Are you kidding me? You said we were going to start off easy! LOL". Of course its a Christmas card...only 52 days left!! We used the Candy Cane digital kit. So cute!
