Sage and Coral for Power Poppy

A new Hues to Use challenge came out this week at Power Poppy and so I put my paint brush down, let the puppies run wild around the house and sat down to create this afternoon.

I chose to use the digital stamp set Well Hello Dahlia for my card. I used the coral and yellow colors for the flowers and incorporated the sage on the flower stems and with the main base for the card. It's a good thing I hoard paper because I knew my Sage Shadow card stock would be perfect for this challenge! It is a darker shade than what the photo is portraying.

My layout came from this weeks Freshly Made Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by!

Making Life a Breeze for LMMS

It's time for a new challenge at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog and we also have some new images being released today! My card highlights one of those new images, Polka Dot Pals Wikoli. He is making the shaka sign "hang loose", which is often associated with the Hawaiian and surf cultures.

To create my card I used an MFT die to cut the frame and then attached the retired SU DSP to the frame. I then adhered PDP Wikoli to the frame with dimensionals and stamped my sentiment...easy peasy!

Make sure you head over to the LMMS blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with our Anything Goes challenge! Don't forget to stop by the LMMS store to see all the fun new images HERE.

Summer Sun for Power Poppy

Happy Friday! Anyone have any big plans for the weekend? I'll be painting our hallway and doing yard work all weekend. Pretty exciting, I know ;)

My goal for the month is to play along with the Hues to Use challenges over at Power Poppy and with this card done I only have one more to create a card for. That particular challenge has pink in it so I guess that's probably why I saved it for last LOL

This Hues to Use has red, yellow and green and I decided to use the digital stamp Bubbles and Fizz, which was just recently released. The image is of Golden Wattle, which is a plant I had never heard of before. I did some research online and it is native to SE Australia and has gorgeous yellow flowers. They actually reminded me of pom poms as I looked at various images of the flower. It is considered a shrub and blooms from August to October. Very cool to learn about!

When I colored the image I went with a more rich yellow, like the curb in the photo. To bring in the red I made my card base red and then also added a red banner. The green was also brought in by way of a banner and with the leaves.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bat Owl Revisted

It's time for my DT Spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I've chosen to work with I Am Bat Owl again, I love this fun image. With all the superhero movies that are in the market nowadays this fun image is perfect for the superhero/comic book hero lover in your life!

The last time I used this image I used red for Bat Owls wings and mask. This time I decided to go with a yellow, I thought it looked good with the brown I used for the main body. You may recognize the sketch, as I also used it on another card I posted today. It's an older one by Freshly Made Sketches and one of my favorites. Very easy to use and is great for showcasing images like Bat Owl!

You can find Bat Owl in the Kitty Bee Designs shop HERE. There is also still time to play along with the Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday Challenge, which you can find HERE.

Kindness for LMMS

It's time for Inspiration Week at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and this week I'm using an adorable image called Val's Butterfly. One of my best friends loves elephants and this sweet girl always makes me think of my friend.

I colored the image with copics and used a retired SU background stamp to create the plaid background on my card base. The heart DSP is also retired SU. I'm trying to use all the paper in my stash before spending money on new stuff!

Remember, there is still time to play along with the Anything Goes challenge over at the LMMS blog! Come check out what the rest of the DT has created and then play along with us!

Red and Black for Power Poppy

A new Hues To Use is up on the Power Poppy blog and as soon as I saw the colors....red, black and white....I knew I wanted to use the Tulips in Hobnail Pitcher digital stamp. I already had had it printed out on a sheet with some other Power Poppy images, all I needed to do was color it.

I grabbed my copics and started coloring the image. I had almost gotten the entire image done, I was just working on shading the leaves, when my green copic juiced! I about cried because the spot was one I just couldn't cover up. Maybe someone with more talent than I have could have fixed it but I just uttered some not-so-family friendly words and printed off another sheet of images. I switched out that particular green for a different shade and completed the coloring once again.

As you can see I used red for the tulips and part of the background paper, black for the vase and background paper and then white for the image panel and on the background paper. I left off a sentiment so the card could be used for any occasion and the circle with the image is popped up for extra dimension.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmoose in June

I've really been lagging this year with Christmas cards and so I wanted to make sure I made time to play along with the current Jingle Belles challenge before it closed.

For the challenge the gals at Jingle Belles want us to create a card with at least 3 layers. I had these moose from SugarPea Designs in my stash and colored thanks to the last 30 Day Daily Marker Challenge so I grabbed them and then checked out the SugarPea Designs blog to see what their sketch challenge looked like. It includes a few layers so I was able to combine the two challenges. I created 3 cards since I had 3 moose colored.

Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Asters

On Sunday we had all 3 kids home for Fathers Day but I was still able to get some yard work done and create this card while the kids were busy hanging with dad.

This card is for the Power Poppy June Bug challenge. After seeing Julie Koeber highlight this set on a Hues to Use post I realized I didn't have this digi so I promptly went and bought it. Like all of the Power Poppy images the flowers are so pretty and detailed.

I used a blueish violet for my asters, some light pink and gray for the flowering clover and another shade of pink for the flowering thyme. After cutting out the image with a circle die I popped it up on the card base I had created. I thought this would make a great birthday card so I used a sentiment from another Power Poppy set to create the banner across the circle.

Thanks for stopping by!

Strawberries for Sunday Stamps

It's time for a new Sunday Stamps challenge and this week we have a fun color palette that is definitely all about summer!

For my card I used a digital stamp from Power Poppy called Juicy Strawberries (it's on sale until tonight, June 11, for onle 1.99!). I just love this image. We have wild strawberries all over our yard, and some actually ring the grave of our beloved Spike, who we lost last Sept. When I go out to talk to him it makes me smile to see such happy plants growing around him and keeping him safe.

For my colors I chose the poppy red color, the pink and the green. The yellowish/tan green and the gray are also on my card....I used the yellowish/tan green on the strawberries, to make sections of the strawberries that weren't quite ripe, and the flowers are lined with a touch of gray.

Make sure you head over to Sunday Stamps to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Coneflower Hues

There is a new Hues to Use post up on the Power Poppy blog and so I decided to play along with it, surprisingly since purple is one of the main colors. We all know how much I love purple....not LOL However, I do love some alliums, which are the big flowers in the picture. I used to grow them when we lived in CT but have never tried them here in Alaska. They sure are pretty though!

Now, because I'm not a fan of purple I don't have many purple copic markers. Therefore while my coneflowers should be lighter at the end of the petal they are a tad darker because I don't have any light purple shades. I guess I'm going to have to breakdown and get some as a "just in case" type of thing. For the gray I used N2 to do some shading around the flowers and then I also used some gray DSP.

Thanks for stopping by!

Time to Celebrate

It's Thursday and that means it's time for a new challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog! This week I'm using an image that is perfect for a girls birthday, Polka Dot Pals Opel.

I started with my DSP first and pulled my colors for that. I went through my copics and grabbed the markers that matched the colors I wanted and I used those to color in my image. I then started cutting my papers and put the card together. I didn't like how plain the white card stock looked behind my image so I embossed it with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. The birthday sentiment is inside the card, I decided to leave a sentiment off the front and just let the image speak for itself.

Make sure you head on over to the LMMS Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

June Bug for Power Poppy

This month the challenge over at Power Poppy is all about bugs. There are some great PP sets to choose from in order to take part in this challenge! I decided to go with an image I recently colored and had sitting on my craft desk, Climbing Clematis. I turned the image upside down, the digi comes with the big butterfly coming down at the top but for my card I liked this presentation better.

Pink isn't my favorite color but since I colored the clematis pink I decided to do a pink background. I've been in a polka dot kind of mood and my card definitely reflects that.

Stamps: Climbing Clematis (Power Poppy)
Paper: Baja Breeze (SU retired), Pink Pirouette DSP (SU retired), Baja Breeze DSP (SU retired), Neenah Solar White
Ink: Printer Ink
Copics
Accessories: Cuttlebug, MFT Blueprints 15, SU Oval Framelits, So Saffron Ribbon (retired), Dimensionals

Now here is a second card. This was actually my first card for the challenge and I was all excited to link it up...... until I realized the snail isn't formally considered a bug. I instantly thought of it as a bug but according to what I found on the net "snails are members of the class Gastropoda, phylum Mollusca, and thus are not formally considered bugs. True bugs are part of class Hemiptera, which are from the phylum Arthropoda. Informally, however, bugs are considered to include all land invertebrates; in this sense, land snails are included."

Well, poop. However, I like this card (and still loving the polka dots) so I'm going to include it in this post also even though it technically isn't a bug, except for in my mind.

Happy Halloween

Yep, you read that right....Halloween in June! I received a custom request for a   Halloween card and so I was happy to oblige. I love making holiday cards throughout the year, and that includes Halloween.

The customer ordering these cards had gotten Halloween cards from me last year that used the MFT Witch Way is the Candy set and really liked the little witch from that set so I used her again for this card. To get my creativity going I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. My witch is a little bigger than the circle on the right of the sketch but I think it still follows the sketch.

I've had this retired SU Halloween DSP for a number of years so I used that for my 2 sections, mounting it on some Old Olive card stock. The image itself was colored with copics and then I popped it up with dimenionals. Thebanner was made using an MFT die.

Thanks for stopping by!

Super Moose!

It's time for mid challenge inspiration over at the Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday Challenge and the theme is "congratulations". Our sponsors for this challenge are KaDoodle Bug Designs and Scrap N' Dipity.

For my card I'm using a fun moose image from KaDoodle Big Designs called DS Super Hero Moose! Big surprise that I went with a moose right? Yeah, I didn't think anyone would be too shocked :) My husband and boys are all big comic book/superhero geeks so this super moose was a no brainer for me, I had to have him!

I colored the moose with my copics and then created my card around the colors of his cape. The patterned paper is from a paper stack I found at JoAnn's and it was perfect for this card! The moose is a digital stamp that was printed and the cut out with my Scan N Cut, and then I popped him up on the die cut circle for some dimension. For my sentiment I used "great job", which will still work for a congratulations card.

Head on over to the Aloha Friday Challenge to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! Don't forget to go check out this weeks sponsors!

Puppy Love for LMMS

I'm late with my LMMS post, bad me! I was in front of the school board Weds night fighting for my job yet again and when I come home from that I totally crashed and forgot to write my blog post, oops!

Over the weekend we acquired 2 puppies! They are 8 weeks old and are mini dachshunds.....2 girls we have named Anna and Elsa. We got them from our best friends so I decided to make a thank you card for them and Polka Dot Gail was the perfect choice! How sweet is this image of a little girl holding a puppy?

Don't forget, there is still time to play along in our Anything Goes challenge!

Wild About You for Sunday Stamps

It's time for another Sunday Stamps challenge and this time we have a sketch from yours truly. I tried to keep it simple because I don't like sketches with a lot of elements. What can I say, I'm a simple girl!

For my card I decided to pull out a set I haven't used much, MFT's Sweet Safari. I couldn't decide between the elephant or the lion in the set but finally went with the lion because I liked that image in the grass the best.

I used a SU set called Work of Art to stamp some clouds on the soft background. They are pretty faint so didn't show up all that well in the photo but they are there! The grass the lion is standing in mimics the sketch so I did follow my own sketch, even though at first glance it may be hard to tell!

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see how you interpret the sketch!

Dab for LMMS

Happy Thursday! I hope the week has been going good for everyone. I've had more work drama thrown my way but at this point there isn't much I can do but just trust that things will work out so I'm trying not to stress.

One way I de-stress is by having fun with my LMMS images! There are some new images being released today and I am featuring Polka Dot Pals Umberto. I broke out in a big grin when I saw this image because it totally made me think of my 18 y/o son. He is always "dabbing"....if you don't know what that is it's considered a dance move, and people either love it or hate it LOL It's kind of become a thing for my son so we see it all the time.

I kept the card pretty CAS, keeping the focus on the image. My son and I conferred and we both agreed on the sentiment that I ended up using, we felt it worked well with the image.

Make sure to head on over to the LMMS store to see all the new images, and then head on over to the challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT created and play along with us!
