Superhero Layout for Friday Mashup

What better way to start the New Year than with a fun new challenge from the Friday Mashup! This one made me think but was really fun to work with.....This week the challenge is to create a project featuring super heroes, create a project with a comic book layout or do both. I mashed it up of course!

My husband and boys are all huge comic book geeks. I'm surrounded by comic books and super hero stuff everywhere in my house. My husband is a fountain of useless information when it comes to all things superhero/comics so I knew if I had any problems with this challenge I had the perfect people to go too with questions.

The first thing I did was download Sandy Allnock's FREE comic book template. Some team members thought it was a bit too much to work with but I found the boxes the perfect guideline. After I printed the template out I actually cut out the boxes and then drew around them on another piece of paper so I could work outside the boxes. This allowed me to mask and erase pencil lines as I worked.

The set You're Super from MFT was perfect for this challenge. I grabbed the images, some post it notes and just started stamping and masking. After I got it all stamped I pulled out my copics and black pen and went to work adding details and coloring.

I love how this came out and when I put it to the test and showed the family it was met with rave reviews (and trust me, they will tell me when they don't like something!) so that made me happy!

I hope you'll head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with an then play along with us! Because we have team members attending the CHA conference in CA this challenge will last for 2 weeks. We'll be back to our weekly schedule starting Jan.15.

2015 Year in Review

At the end of the year I usually do a 2 part post highlighting my favorite card that I made each month of 2015 but I'm lagging this year so I'm just going to do one big post about my favorites.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to stop by my blog, check out what I'm up too and every now and then leave comments. I do appreciate it!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe New Years but please, don't drink and drive. It's not worth it.

Blow Me Away

It's funny when inspiration hits! Last night I was cleaning my craft desk about 12:30am and some DSP caught my eye. I started thinking about what I could use it for and then the sketch challenge at SugarPea Designs popped into my head. I pulled out the Blow Me Away set and sat down to get my desk messy again!

Using my copics I tried to color in the dragon with colors from the paper. I used a retired embossing folder from SU for the background and various dies and punches to finish off the card. I love how it came out, it's so cute in person! It's dark and rainy here (yes, almost 40 degrees in southcentral Alaska the end of Dec, this sucks!) and getting a good pic is tough.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by.

Create Memories

Hello there! I hope everyone had a nice Christmas! Mine was fantastic...lots of great memories created with hubby and the kids. I'm already thinking of my plans for next year :)

I finally managed to sit down and do some stamping. A gal contacted me about making a custom card for her sister, as she is going to ask her to be her son's godmother. I ended up scrapping this card as she wanted some specific text across the front of the card but this card is still good for other occasions, like a baby shower.

I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, it was perfect to use with this tree from SU. Maybe it's just me but I have an awful time using this particular set and really don't pull it out that often. I pulled out a retired color, Bashful Blue, to create this card. The card base, text and tree trunk are all Basic Gray.

Thanks for stopping by!

Getting Anchored for Sunday Stamps

It's the last challenge of the year for Sunday Stamps and to close things out we have this fun sketch for you to play with! As you can see I brought out the horizontal cover up die from MFT, I love this die and it works perfectly with this sketch.

It's no secret that I adore the Pure Innocence line from MFT and being a Navy veteran/Navy family I had to have the Sailor Girl set. It reminds me of when I dressed all 3 of my kids up in little sailor outfits! I used my copics to color her in...it was my first time doing pleats and for my first attempt I don't think it came out too bad! The DSP is retired from SU and was perfect for this card.

Head on over to Sunday Stamps and check out what the rest of the DT did, and then play along with us! Thank you to everyone who played along with us in 2015, we hope you'll join us in 2016!

Sparkle and Shine for Friday Mashup

Well, another year is coming to an end and it is time for the last challenge of the year over at The Friday Mashup! I hope you have joined us throughout the year and had fun playing along!

Breelin is our last hostess of 2015 and she wants to see a New Year's themed project using the colors black, silver and gold. I had to think about this for a bit and ended up pulling out a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called Sparkle and Shine.

I stamped the circle image around the sentiment and then the sentiment in Versamark on Basic Black card stock and used a gold embossing powder to heat emboss those elements. I punched the circle out with the 2 1/2" inch circle punch and then also used that punch to create a circle from silver glimmer paper. The gold circle was created with a 1 3/4" circle punch. My card base is Basic Black and I used a die from the MFT Blueprints 15 to cut a panel from some retired Basic Black DSP. To finish off the card I added some silver stretch cord across the top.

My card is general enough where it will work for New Years or any other type of celebration!

Head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see our new blog design, check out what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us! This challenge will last for 2 weeks!

Holiday Cheer

Last night I posted a card I made for a military wives Christmas card swap. This is the 2nd card I made for the swap, I don't like sending the exact card to everyone so I made several cards of each design.

This elf from MFT was really fun to color! I stamped the image on X-Press  Paper and brought the sheet to work and colored all the elves on my break and lunch. Then I just had to cut them out at home and put the card together.

I used the MFT diagonal cover up die on this card. These dies really make it so easy, I am addicted to them!

Toasty Greetings

Just a quick post.....

It's that time of year when finding time to stamp is hard but I needed to make some last minute cards for a military wives Christmas card swap so I sat down and had some fun with some MFT Stamps.

How cute are these guys from the Toasty Greetings set? I can't believe this is the first time I've inked up the set since getting it in November! The stitched horizontal cover up die makes it so easy to create a fun and fast background, I love it!

Cool Colors for Sunday Stamps

This week at Sunday Stamps we have a fun color challenge for you! I really like these colors, they look like nice cool winter colors to me. It's currently 9 degrees at my place so I am all about cool :)

I colored this sweet image from MFT using my cool gray and greenish blue copics. The background was created using the MFT Die-namics Snow Drifts Cover Up....I used the die on a sheet of Neenah Solar White along with some SU Christmas DSP in shades of Pool Party and Lost Lagoon and then alternated the various colors to create my background. I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray, popped up the banner with dimensionals and then adhered the girl image with dimensionals also.

Make sure to head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!

Christmas Cookies for Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Amy is our hostess and she wants us to be inspired by Christmas cookies and use dies on our projects.

I grabbed a retired set from SU to create some gingerbread cookies. They come with a matching die set so that made it easy to mash up the challenge this week!

Head on over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us! This challenge is open for 2 weeks!

O Christmas Tree For TTS

We've entered the month of December and Christmas is just a few weeks away! This means the last challenge of the year is upon us at 'Tis The Season and we have an inspiration photo to carry us out for the year.

I was inspired by the tree and colors on the tree. MFT had the perfect stamp to use in the Merry Christmoose set so I stamped that and colored it with copics on a piece of cardstock I die cut using one of the dies from the MFT Blueprint 15 set. My card base is Real Red and I layered a piece of patterned paper on it and then added my image panel. To bring in the colors from the picture I added sequins for decorations on the tree.

The picture doesn't do it justice, it's so cute in person, I love it!

Head on over to the 'Tis The Season blog and play along with us, I'd love to see what you create!
