King of the Grill for LMMS

It's Inspiration Week for Little Miss Muffet Stamps and this week I'm highlighting a fun image from the store that would be perfect for Father's Day! It's called Mr. Grill It and is perfect for the man in your life that loves to grill!

My husband loves to cook, and that includes grilling. He has 3 different grills out on our front deck and they all serve a different purpose....just don't ask me what! LOL I am not a fan of cooking so I love the fact that my husband is such a great cook and enjoys it. Even in our cold, dark Alaska winters he is out there grilling and feeding the family. I kept looking at this image in the store and finally said yes, I need to make a card with it! After getting it all colored and put together I've decided I'm going to print a few more out and make some more cards using various color schemes. The image doesn't have to be for Father's Day, it would also work great for a birthday or even a general occasion!

Don't forget, the Anything Goes challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog is still open, so head on over there and play along with us!

Merry Christmas

It's time for a new challenge over at The Merry Christmas Challenge blog! As always it's Anything Goes, with this week having the optional theme of "banners".

I decided to include the optional theme and used this Pure Innocence image that has a girl holding a Merry Christmas banner. Nice and simple way of including the theme! I kept the layout simple so that way the sweet girl is the focus of the card. I colored her with colors that I pulled right from the DSP I used.

Make sure you head on over to The Merry Christmas Challenge blog to play along with us and see what the rest of the DT created, then play along with us! When December comes around and you have your Christmas cards done you'll have lots of extra time for other holiday fun!

Feel Better Soon

It's time for a new challenge over at Sunday Stamps and this week we have a fun color challenge!

As soon as I saw these colors I knew I wanted to use my new set from MFT, Too-Cute Turtles. My 19 yr old son is known for saying "I like turtles" (I think it has to do with a video he saw on YouTube?), it was even a decoration on his chair back for his high school graduation, so as soon as I saw this turtle set I had to get it!

I decided to incorporate the 2 shades of green via the turtle and the patterned paper I used, and I did the same with the Navy blue color. The white background was too stark for me so I brought in the off white with some splatters all across the card front. There are a few different sentiments in the set but I went with a get well one.

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! We'd love to see how you use these colors!

My son's chair back for his high school graduation. See what I mean about turtles? :)

Wonderful As You

I just love the colors for this week's Hues to Use over at Power Poppy. the pumpkin orange and green are just so pretty. I almost went with a fall themed card but decided to go with a simple Mother's Day one.

I took the Chinese Lantern digital stamp and manipulated it with the computer so that it overlapped itself a few times around corners of the card. I then took a sentiment from the Gladioli digital set and added that beneath the flowers, changing the text color to orange to match the flowers. To bring in the off white color I used a T1 copic to shade around the image.

Thanks for stopping by!

Love, Heart, Liberty and Soul

On Weds I got a call from my nephew, who is in the last few weeks of Army boot camp. He told me that on Thursday he'd be taking the big physical fitness test that he had to pass to move on. Well, on Thursday I was in the backyard doing some chores and missed a call from my nephew saying he passed! I felt awful I missed his call, especially since a call home is very rare, so I wanted to get a card in the mail to him ASAP letting him know how proud we are of him. I headed over to Freshly Made Sketches and went from there......

I pulled out the patriotic SU sets I have and stared at them for a few mins to see what would work with this sketch. I decided to do the stamp of a soldier and flag and die cut it with circle dies from MFT. Then I took an eagle image from the same set and cut that with a smaller die from the same die set. The eagle has special meaning for my nephew and I in relation to my dad, who passed 8 yrs ago.

After stamping the sentiment on white card stock I embossed the panel with a Distressed Stripes folder from Cuttlebug and adhered my circles to it. The base of the card is Real Red.

Hopefully he likes the card. I can't wait to see him in a few weeks at his boot camp graduation!

Just Because

It's time for a new Anything Goes challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog and we also have some new images being released this week. I'm using one of those new images on my card today, she is Polka Dot Pals Peyton. How cute is she?

I wanted to keep the card simple so I grabbed some retired SU DSP and used that to create the bottom half of my card. I then created a "ledge" out of more DSP so it looked like PDP Peyton was sitting on a wall of color. I colored PDP Peyton in with colors I took straight from the DSP.

Make sure you head on over to the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then join us in the Anything Goes challenge! Don't forget, you can also find all the new images in the shop HERE.

Reely Great Day

My nephew turned 21 on April 2nd  but he is still going through boot camp for the Army so I needed to make a card to send him. He loves to go fishing with my husband and our youngest so I thought this digital image from Power Poppy would be perfect for him.  He ended up moving units a few days before his birthday and I just got his new address the other day so I finished up his card last night and got it in the mail today. I used the colors from Power Poppy's March 27th Hues to Use challenge.

Love You for LMMS

I'm late again with my post, ooops! It's been crazy around here but things are settling down so I should get back on track, hopefully.

It's Inspiration Week over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and this week I'm using a new image called Polka Dot Pals Jamison. It's a new addition to the ASL images and I am so excited to have a boy making the ASL sign for "love", as I have a deaf son.

I wanted to use bold colors and graphics for the background and so I pulled out some retired DSP from SU that I had in my hoard and pulled the colors from the DSP to color the image. Both the image panel and the sentiment panel are popped up for extra dimension.

Don't forget, the Anything Goes challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog is still open, so head on over there and play along with us! You can find all the new images in the shop HERE and all the ASL images HERE.

O Christmas Tree

It's time for a new challenge over at The Merry Christmas Challenge and as always it's an Anything Goes theme, with an optional theme of trees this week.

I decided to use a one tree image and make that the focus of my card. This sketch, which was on Die Cuttin' Divas a few weeks ago, was the perfect layout to showcase the image. I did some layered stamping to create my tree image and then I cut it out with a SU oval die. The DSP is retired SU and I just adore it, I love the green and black together! I kept it all really simple because I didn't want the paper to overpower the tree image. I also chose to keep a sentiment off the front and just stamp one inside.

Best Dad Ever for Sunday Stamps

Oooops! I didn't realize that I hadn't posted my card for the new Sunday Stamps challenge. I've been pulled in a million directions this last week and my brain is mush!

This week we have a sketch from Heather to play with. As soon as I saw it I thought of the Aprons of Love set from SU. It took a bit to get what I saw in my head onto the paper though, and I don't know if I completely succeeded but it will work.

I created the apron using this fabulous masculine DSP that is in the Occasions catalog, and I also used the same DSP to create the different sections on the sketch. I didn't like that middle panel being completely plain so I used a retired SU folder to bring in some texture.

Make sure to head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see how YOU interpret the sketch!

Birthday Word Search

It's time for a new challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog and there are also some new images this week! One of the new items is this fun Word Search Birthday Sentiment background, which can be paired up with just about any image! I decided to use the Celeste Amberglow Celebrate More image with the new background.

I opened up Microsoft Word and used that to merge the 2 images together. I sized it all to the dimensions I wanted and then I went ahead and printed out the merged image. After printing I used my copics to color in the image and to highlight words from the word search background.

I matted the image panel on to some Daffodil Delight card stock and then I matted that to a card base of Marina Mist.

Make sure and head on over to the Little Miss Muffet Blog to play along with our Anything Goes Challenge and don't forget to check out all the new images in the shop HERE.
