Banner Thoughts for Friday Mashup

It's time for another Friday Mashup! This week Avery is our host and she has a great sketch for us, plus she wants us to use 2 different embellishments on our project.

I used the set Perfect Pennants and kept it simple since the DSP is so busy. I stamped the sentiment in Coastal Cabana and attached it to the main panel with a staple. The card base is Sahara Sand with Best Year Ever DSP layered on a strip of Coastal Cabana.

For my 2 embellishments I used Coastal Cabana ribbon and a Crushed Curry button. I'm really impressed that I managed to include a button, usually I can never make those work on my projects!

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT did and then play along with us, we love seeing what you create!

  • Create a project with the "Sketch".
  • Create a project with "2 different embellishments".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project "with the Sketch and different embellishments".

A Penguin Christmas

Isn't this penguin so cute? I just love him! He is from the SugarPeas set 'Have an Ice Day' and it's a great set that's very versatile. This particular card was made with Christmas in mind, as the gals over at Jingle Belles wanted us to use something new, and I just recently got this set.

The layout is from the current sketch at the SugarPea blog and once again I used Lawn Fawn paper from the Snow Day collection. I just love these papers, they are so cute! I went with a black accent since I've got a penguin on my card. It's funny, I get asked all the time if we have penguins in Alaska....um, that would be a no folks! Polar bears yes, moose yes, puffins yes but sadly, penguins are at the other pole :)

The panel with the penguin is popped up with dimensionals and I added some chunky glitter to his hat. The card still looked a bit empty so I added some Basic Black candy dots to finish it off. Inside the card I used sentiments from the set to say "From Our Home To Yours Happy Holidays".

Thanks for stopping by!

Moose Birthday!

SugarPea Designs is having a birthday celebration, it's their one year birthday! I was recently introduced to their stamps by a friend and I just love them, they are so adorable. I am especially fond of this moose, he is just too cute! I've had quite a few moose visitors in my yard/neighborhood lately so that makes me really happy! Anyway, head over to the SugarPea Designs blog to check out their birthday blog hop and then make a birthday card to help celebrate.

The Paper Players has a new sketch and it's a great one. Instead of a circle I used the moose image. He's colored with various Blendabilities (and 1 Copic, lol) and I paper pieced his scarf, using paper from Lawn Fawns Snow Day collection. He was then popped up with dimensionals. The background papers on the card are from the same collection. I wanted the moose and the sentiment to be the center of attention so I kept the card very simple!

Make sure to head over to both the SugarPea Designs blog and The Paper Players to check out all the fun!

*I'm playing along with the Let's Get This Party Started linky party at Paper Issues* (celebrating birthday)

The other morning I went to take my dogs out and as I opened the back door I spotted this gal having a snack. The dogs went back in the house and I grabbed my camera for a few shots :) She was feasting on some bracket fungi growing on one of the birch trees.

Stamps: Merry ChristMoose (SugarPea Designs)
Paper: Chocolate Chip (SU), Whisper White (SU), Snow Day Collection (Lawn Fawn)

For Baby at Friday Mashup

Happy Friday to everyone! We are FINALLY getting some snow here in southcentral Alaska which puts me in a very good mood, I love it! I hope you are enjoying your weather, wherever you may be.

Another thing that puts me in a good mood....Friday Mashup challenges and yes, it's time for another one :) This week Tara is our hostess and she wants us to use the colors Chocolate Chip, Coastal Cabana and Tangerine Tango, plus she'd like to see a project for baby.

I used the Something for Baby set. I had got it on a preorder when it first came out and I've never used it today. Am I the only one who does stuff like that? I also have to admit that I didn't look closely at the colors and so I used Soft Suede, Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral. To finish my card off I used In Color Sequins. Can I say how much I dislike trying to place sequins? Thank goodness for stamping friends who are available to talk you off the crafting ledge ;)

I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches as my jumping off point, isnt it a great sketch? I think I need to create some more cards this weekend using it!

Head over to The Friday Mashup to check out the rest of the great projects from the DT and also check out Freshly Made Sketches and play along with them!

This week's Mashup Challenge is:

  • Create a project with a "Baby Theme".
  • Create a project  with "Brown, Aqua & Tangerine".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Baby project with the above colors".

Stamps: Something for Baby, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Seeing Stars for TTS34

It's time for another challenge at 'Tis The Season and this week we have a great sketch for everyone. You don't have to use stars in your sketch, but we do need to see the basic sketch on your project.

I went with stars and used the Bright & Beautiful set. I stamped 1 big star and 2 smaller ones in Night of Navy, and then I used my star framelits to cut 2 stars out of silver glimmer paper. All of the Night of Navy stars are popped up with dimensionals.

To get a little more detail I embossed the Whisper White background with the Decorative Dots folder and used some retired silver ribbon to separate  the top panel from the area with the sentiment.

I hope you'll come by the 'Tis The Season blog and play along with us!

Stamps: Bright & Beautiful
Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer Paper

Layering Flowers for Friday Mashup

It's time for another Friday Mashup and this week Sara is our host! She'd like us to try the Triple Stamp Technique and create a project that's all about the flowers.

I love flowers in the garden but it's never really been my thing in stamping so the only flower stamp I have is pleasant poppies. I went with red poppies and a black border, finishing it off with some retired ribbon.

Head on over to The Friday Mashup to see all the great projects from the rest of the DT and then play along with us!

This week's Mashup Challenge is:

  • Create a project with the "Triple Layer Technique" Tutorial HERE.
  • Create a project that's "Floral".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Floral Triple Layer Project".

Stamps: Pleasant Poppies
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White

Stamping Shapes for Friday Mashup

It's my turn to host the challenge at Friday Mashup this week and I've got a technique for everyone to try, the Embossing Folder Stamping Technique. It's really easy to do and gives you another excuse to pull out your embossing folders!

While we're at it, let's throw some shapes in there and mix them up! It's the beginning of the year so just throw caution to the wind and have fun :)

I took the Arrows TIEF and used Lost Lagoon and Smoky Slate ink, spraying it with some water, and then I put down a panel of Whisper White to get my design. This panel is adhered to the left side of the card for contrast against the DSP. I used some shapes from the Just Sayin' set for my focal area, finishing it off with the "hey there" sentiment.

Head over to The Friday Mashup to check out all the great projects from the DT, and then play along with us, I'd love to see what you create!

Stamps: Just Sayin'
Paper: Basic Gray, Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Whisper White, Moonlight DSP Paper Stack

Orange and Blue for You

I needed to come up with a thank you card for a friend of the family and the sketch at Sunday Stamps was the perfect starting point.

Like myself, our friend is from Colorado (well, I lived in MA until I was 12, and spent my teen years in CO) and she is a huge Broncos fan. I HATE the Donkeys, as I call them, but I like to tailor my cards to fit the personality of the people receiving them so Donkey colors it is on this card, especially since her team is in the playoffs (and my Giants are not, grrrrr).

I just love the Pleasant Poppies stamp. Such pretty flowers and so easy to use! I colored in the poppies with Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities, and in doing so discovered my medium and dark are dry. Not too happy about that as the caps all seemed to be on tight but whatever, I'll order a new set.

Anyway, I colored the flowers in and used Old Olive for the stems. To do the Broncos theme I made the scallop border Pacific Point and also stamped the sentiment in the blue. Nice and easy card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Pleasant Poppies, sentiment from Trendy Trees(retired)
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, Whisper White
Ink: Memento Black, Blendabilities: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie

Through the Window for 'Tis The Season

'Tis The Season is back for it's first challenge of 2015 and we've got a color challenge to start off the New Year!

The orange in this combo could be in interpreted a few different ways. You could go for a lighter peach color or a brighter orange, which is the way I leaned. I got the Gentle Peace set as part of a Christmas gift and so I colored it in with shades of blue and orange. For the gold portion of the color challenge I embossed the sentiment in gold and also added a strip of gold glitter paper to separate the top panel from the sentiment area. To help the window image stand out a bit more I put it on an embossed panel of Crumb Cake.

We hope you'll come by 'Tis The Season and play along with us! It's never too early to start getting ready for Christmas 2015!

Stamps: Gentle Peace
Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Gold Glimmer Paper
Ink: Crumb Cake, Pacific Blue, Tangerine Twist, Blendabilities (Daffodil Delight, Skin Tones)
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, sponge, dimensionals

Winter Thanks for Friday Mashup

Welcome to the first Friday Mashup challenge of 2015! Heidi is our hostess kicking the year off and she wants to see winter projects with snowflakes on them.

I used the Holiday Home set and my snowflakes are on the DSP I used. This card is going to be used as a thank you card for some gifts we received for Christmas. Since my usual card critic moved to AZ I grabbed my 16 yr old son and asked his thoughts. He said it needed more snow so I added Dazzling Diamonds to the roof of the house and the yard. I think his sister got to him because that is definitely what she would have told me also :)

My layout came from the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. After adhering it all to the Cherry Cobbler card stock it still seemed blah to me so I ended up doing some paper piercing around the edges of the card and DSP layers.

Head over to The Friday Mashup to check out what the rest of the DT came up with and meet one of our new design team members!
