Square Colors for Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Tara is our hostess and she wants us to use the colors Gray, Pink and Sky plus make a square card.

I decided to use the set You've Got This. I stamped the flowers in Versamark on Pink Pirouette card stock and them embossed the flowers in white. I then fussy cut the flowers out of the card stock. The top flower is popped up with dimensionals above the other two. The background behind the flowers was stamped in Soft Sky and the sentiment was stamped in Smoky Slate. The card base is Smoky Slate with a layer of Soft Sky beneath the Whisper White image panel.

Make sure to head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT did and then play along with us!

Here's your Mashup Challenge this week:
  • Create a project using the colors "Pink, Grey & Sky".
  • Create a "Square shaped card".
  • or Mash it Up and created  a "Square shaped card using the above colors".

Reindeer Love for Freshly Made Sketches

Tomorrow my 5 week vacation ends and it's back to work. Today I wanted to take the time to go to my happy place so that meant stamping and making a Christmas card! I decided to play along with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, which ends tomorrow.

I used the set Santa's Gifts, which is one of the new Christmas sets in the SU catty. The reindeer image is adorable so I used him and then stamped a gift next to him. The reindeer and gift are both colored with Copic markers. The card base is Old Olive and then I embossed a panel of Whisper White with the Stylish Stripes TIEF and placed a strip of Merry Moments DSP down the right side, with a strip of Cherry Cobbler along the edge. The image panel is popped up with dimensionals and I added some sequins to finish it off.

Colorful Dino's for Sunday Stamps

This week at Sunday Stamps we have a sketch and I did things a little differently. Normally I am very literal and create my project exactly as the sketch is laid out but this time I turned it and then used dinosaur shapes instead of circles.

My 16 year old is a huge Jurassic Park fan. He has loved the movies his entire life and has followed the new Jurassic World movie since the idea was first leaked. He's already seen the new movie 4 times, he loves it! When I saw the set No Bones about It in the new SU catalog I just had to get it for him.

My son is very outgoing, he's the class clown and just loves to have a good time so to go along with the dino's I wanted to use bold colors to be a sort of reflection of my sons personality. I used Mossy Meadow, Tip Top Taupe and Delightful Dijon for the dinosaurs and then Cucumber Crush for the sentiment. The background was made using the Watercolor Wash background stamp and the colors Tangelo Twist and Blackberry Bliss, with sponging around the edges done with Hello Honey.. The dinosaurs and the sentiment panel are all popped up with dimensionals.

This may not be my typical kind of card but my son loved it and that's all that matters!

Head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT did and then play along with us!

Having a Drink with Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Holly is our hostess and she wants to see projects with food and/or drink on them, plus use markers to color.

I don't really have sets for food and drink so I pulled out a SU set that was recently retired, Perfect Blend. I think I'm the only person I know who doesn't drink coffee, but I do like a big cup of hot chocolate!

I made my card base with the new thick Whisper White card stock and then used stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge set to create my background. I used the Early Espresso and Crumb Cake markers to color on the stamp directly. My 2 cups were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and then I used Copic Markers to color them. The sentiment was colored with a Mossy Meadow marker and popped up. One of the cups is also popped up with dimensionals. A nice, simple card!

Make sure to head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!

A Retro Christmas for TTS47

This week at 'Tis The Season we have an Inspiration Photo and I won't lie, this was a hard one for me. If you've stopped by my blog before and have seen previous Christmas cards you'll know that I am very traditional when it comes to the holidays. I love my red, green and brown for Christmas. That's why we call them challenge blogs though, right? To push us out of our comfort zones and well, this photo does just that for me!

I decided to pull inspiration from the tree and pastel colors. I grabbed the SU stamp Star Tree (retired) and used 4 colors to color it...Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Soft Sky and Pool Party. I then used an oval framelit to cut out the panel and did paper piercing around the edge. My card base is Pink Pirouette and I lightly stamped the snowflakes from the set White Christmas all across the base. I then did a strip of Soft Sky DSP from All is Calm (retired) with a scallop strip of Pool Party going along the bottom. To finish it off I put a strip of white ribbon across the DSP and popped the image panel up with dimensionals over the ribbon and DSP. The sentiment was stamped along the bottom of the card in Pool Party.

Head over to the 'Tis The Season blog to see what the rest of the DT did and then play along with us! I'd love to see how YOU interpret this photo!

Crazy Bird Thoughts for Friday Mashup

This week at the Friday Mashup Cynthia has a sketch for us and would also like us to throw in some pets on our projects....this could be a cat, dog, bird, any animal you might have as a pet!

I pulled out the Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamp set. I just love these funky birds but hadn't inked up the set since getting it. This challenge gave me the perfect excuse to pull them out. The Bird Crazy set is terrific for the pet theme because my in-laws used to raise exotic birds and the first time he ever brought me home to meet his family I thought I had entered a crazy place. The sound from all the birds was insane. I always joke with my husband that right then and there I should have just turned and ran ;)

Since the sketch has a word bubble at the top I grabbed the bird that is glancing up and colored him with Copics on a panel of Neenah Solar White cardstock. Using a die from SU's Adorning Accents I cut across the top of the panel to give it some sort of word bubble look. I took this panel and popped it up on a card base of Neenah Solar White and above the cut panel I stamped the sentiment, which came from a set I had won a few years ago. To finish off the card I added some sequins to help tie in the word bubble concept and then called it good. The card is a little different from what I normally do but I really like how it turned out!

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup to see what the rest of the team did and then play along with us!

Christmas in July

On my blog I do Christmas all throughout the year but the SugarPea Design blog is specifically having a Christmas in July theme so of course I had to play along! I actually played along with 2 of their current challenges....the current sketch challenge and the Christmas theme.

I used my favorite SPD Christmas set, Merry Christmoose. Moose are in my area all throughout the year but the winter is the most common time to see them. One Christmas we had a moose chew on our Christmas lights in the backyard....I'll never forget seeing my husband stand in the dining room window and he was yelling through the window "NO! BAD MOOSE! NO!". I was outside with my camera taking pictures and it was so hard to stay still while I was laughing uncontrollably :)

I was recently in my local stamp store and they had some Christmas paper on sale and so I picked up these fun papers from Carta Bella called 'All Bundled Up'. I just love the soft blue, the rich brown and the Christmas red of these papers! I took the sketch and turned it on it's side, rounding the corners of the red pattern paper and the Neenah Solar White that I used for the image panel. The moose and trees were all colored with Copics. It doesn't show up in the photos but I used Wink of Stella on the trees.

Head on over and play along with both SPD challenges, and thanks for stopping by!

Silver Bells for Jingle Belles

The current challenge at the Jingle Belles blog is to create a project with bells on it or use silver or combine both elements. I decided to combine the two!

I grabbed the retired SU set Bells and Boughs and colored the image with my Copics. To try an get a silver look I used the gray Copics. It's not perfect but it works, right? I didn't have any gray-blue Copics so I used some brighter blues and then colored over them with gray to tone them down.

My layout is from the current 'Tis The Season sketch. I took some retired SU All is Calm DSP and cut it into 2 panels. On the middle edges of the DSP I added silver strips of some washi tape that match the All is Calm DSP. I stamped the sentiment in between the 2 panels of DSP and then popped up the circle image panel with dimensionals. To finish off the card I added some nice silver rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by! The Jingle Belles challenge closes Wed evening at 6pm EST so hurry over and check it out!

Wedding Wishes for Sunday Stamps

This week at Sunday Stamps we have a color combo for you. You don't have to use the photo for inspiration but I hadn't made a wedding card in a while so I went ahead and used the cake as my inspiration for the card as well as for the colors.

I used Copics to color my cake and stuck with neutrals. The layout was inspired by a recent sketch I saw from As You See It.

Head over to Sunday Stamps to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!

Paper: Sahara Sand, Basic Gray, Very Vanilla, Neutrals DSP (retired)

Christmas Blessings

SugarPea Designs has a new sketch challenge up and since I've missed the last few challenges I decided to join in the fun for this one!

I grabbed the Lost Without You set to make a Christmas card. The papers are an older retired SU Christmas DSP. Originally I was going to go with the teal color for the clothing of the young shepherd boy but I didn't have the right Copic colors so I went with neutrals and reds instead.

I moved the heart element up to the right corner and placed my sentiment there, and then I added some gold Stickles around the star.

I've got another idea for this sketch, hopefully this weekend I'll be able to take a few mins and kick out another card for this sketch!

Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Picnic for Friday Mashup

Another week over but that just means it's time for another Friday Mashup challenge! This week Breelin wants us to make a project using "sunshine" and also "summer picnic". I'm an oddball out because I'm not a fan of sunshine and I get REALLY grumpy if we have too many days of sun. I prefer clouds and rain in the summer and lots of snow and clouds in the winter. My friends like to tell me I have the opposite version of SAD :)

Do you do any monthly kit programs, like Paper Pumpkin or Simon Says Stamp? I did the PP for a while and am now getting SSS monthly kits and let me tell you, I am HORRIBLE at using my stuff. Every single PP I have, over a years worth? I think I've only opened one, they are all sitting in a box in my craft area. Same goes for the SSS kits, I've been getting those since November 2014 and guess what I haven't touched? I know, bad bad bad. I decided to break out of this ignoring the kit pattern and used the SSS June 2015 kit, which was full of bright colors and plenty of sun and picnic themed items!

My card base is SSS White and I used Doodlebug Sunkissed papers from the kit to cover the entire card base. To make my squares I took 2 images that were on one of the papers and cut them to represent my picnic portion, ice cream! Who doesn't love a nice ice cream when out on a picnic? For the other 2 squares I used papers that represented sunshine to me....bright green with a grass pattern and a fun yellow dotted paper. I added a smiling sun to the green pattern paper and the smile die cut on the yellow pattern paper. To finish it off I stamped the sentiment and adhered it below the squares.

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then link up your own sunny summer picnic project!

This weeks Mashup Challenge is:
  • Create a project with "a Summer Picnic theme".
  • Create a project with "Sunshine".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project with " a Summer Picnic and Sunshine theme".

Ugly Sweater Christmas for TTS

It's 'Tis The Season time again and this week we have a fun sketch to play along with! You can turn it on the side, switch out the circle for another shape....as long as we can still see the basic outline of the sketch you are good to go!

I started with a base of Neenah Solar White and used some paper from Lawn Fawn to put across the bottom of the card. I then grabbed the Ugly Sweaters set from Simon Says Stamp. I absolutely love ugly sweaters and this set and with it's coordinating die and set Sweater Words and Appliques the possibilities are endless. I decided to stamp a Santa face on my sweater, added a string of lights across the bottom and then with a white gel pen I added white dots as snowflakes. The sentiment is stamped in SU Real Red and is from the SSS set Be Joyful. To finish off the top portion I added paper piercing around the edges and red rhinestones.

Head on over to the 'Tis The Season blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!
