Sending Thanks for Sunday Stamps

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US the Sunday Stamps deadline is extended until Dec.4th. I created another card for the sketch using an image from SugarPea Designs. My youngest turned 17 on Nov.20 and his grandpa sent him a card and iTunes gift card so I needed to whip up a thank you card for him!

This sweet image is from SugarPea Designs Happy Mail set and I paired him with the colors that make me think of the postal service, red and blue! I used the strip of red DSP to divide the card front into 2 sections like the sketch, and of course the penguin takes the place of the circle shape.

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to play along with us, we'd love to see what you create!

Camping out for TTS55

Because of the Thanksgiving holiday here in the states the deadline for the current 'Tis The Season challenge is going until Dec.1st, so there is still plenty of time to  play along. Thanks to this challenge I've gotten plenty of Christmas cards done and will be addressing them the next few days to mail out by Dec.1. I love being ahead of the game and having time to do other stuff!

I made a second card for the sketch and this one was specifically made for a friend of mine that lives up in Fairbanks. Her and her husband travel all over Alaska during the summer in their RV so this image from Taylored Expressions is just perfect for them!

Head on over to 'Tis The Season and play along with us, we'd love to see what you create!

Giving Thanks (again)

This week I am making loaves of banana bread to hand out to friends and  coworkers and I am also including cards for some of the recipients. This particular card is going to a friend of ours that serves on city council with my husband and also teaches at my kids school. She is such a wonderful person and we are very thankful to have her and her family in our lives, and so the card and bread are just a little gift to say we're thankful for her friendship!

The Paper Players sketch was the perfect starting point for my card. Because I used a larger image from MFT I just did the tag shape and then stamped the sentiment and created a banner for that coming off to the right. The patterned paper is from SEI and was sitting in a stash I've had for a few years. To create the tag I used the MFT Tag, You're It and then used the Snow Drifts Cover Up die to create strips across the tag. I then popped up my PI girl with dimensionals on the tag, and adhered the tag to the card with dimensionals also.

Getting Thankful for Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Heidi is our hostess. She has a fun sketch for us and would also like us to create a project with a thankful theme.

I used one of the images from SU's Thankful Forest Friends and colored it with various markers. I used the 2 1/2" circle punch to  cut it out and popped it up with dimensionals over the DSP. The simple sentiment is perfect for the busy DSP background.

Head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Have Your Elf a Merry Christmas

I'm squeaking in with a card for the The Paper Players challenge, which is to create a CAS Christmas card. I just stocked up on some Pure Innocence stamps that were on clearance at MFT so perfect opportunity to break one of the sets in!

This die from MFT is a new favorite of mine as it allows you to quickly put a card together. I grabbed some paper I've had for a few years from SEI and used that behind the frame. I colored the image with copics, fussy cut it and then popped it up with dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped in Garden Green.

I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Weds challenge, they'd like to see Christmas cards featuring MFT products!

Thanks for stopping by!

Warm Winter Wishes

I spent the afternoon watching football and when my Giants suffered a heartbreaking loss I needed some alone time and headed off to craft. I wanted to play along with the MFT sketch challenge and thankfully there is still some time left.

I used the MFT Stitched Cover Up Diagonal Die to create my angled portions of the sketch. The paper is from the MFT Calm and Cozy Chevron Pack and I started with the darkest color at top and moved to the lightest at the bottom. I cut out the streetlight in black and added yellow for the light. The sentiment was stamped in gray across the bottom and then I used spackle aka my embossing paste to create the look of heavy snow with the MFT stencil Snowfall.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thankful Sketch for Sunday Stamps

This week at the Sunday Stamps we have a nice easy sketch to play along with! Looking at my card you may not think I followed the sketch but I did! I just turned the card to the side and my little girl is the circle shape, with the division created by the die perfect for separating the top and bottom layers!

I love this image from MFT called Turkey Time....they just had it on sale for retirement so I am so glad I picked it up last month!! I colored the girl with copics to match the paper with the paper from SEI that I used.

I kept it very simple, I love how this die makes it so easy to create a CAS card.

Make sure to head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!

Winter Ride for Friday Mashup

It's my turn to host at The Friday Mashup and this week I'd like to see winter projects using these colors: Mint, Pool, White and Slate. Winter is in full swing here in Alaska and I just love the soft colors of a snow covered landscape!

I had had this image of the sledding bear and rabbit left from the 30 day color challenge and so I grabbed it to make my card. The DSP behind the frame is Pool Party and I used Mint Macaron to stamp the sentiment across the card. The card base is Smoky Slate. The neutrals (and the pop of red) that were used to color in my image worked perfectly for the challenge! To finish it off I added a few sequins and voila, nice and easy card!

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup blog to check out all the great projects from the DT and then play along with us, I'd love to see your winter projects!

A Christmoose Tree for TTS55!

This week we have a sketch at Tis The Season and I used some new goodies I just got from My Favorite Things!

I love this moose, he is just too cute! I love Christmas trees and so I made a little scene where the moose is kicking back with a mug of hot chocolate, enjoying his beautiful Christmas tree! I used copic markers to add ornaments to the tree and the background was created using a new MFT stencil and Distress Ink. I took my white gel pen and added white dots on the moose's sweater and created some reflection marks on  the ornaments. The moose is popped up with dimensionals.

Head on over to the Tis The Season blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us! Because of the Thanksgiving holiday coming up soon here in the US the challenge is extended to 3 weeks instead of 2, so there is plenty of time to play along!

Grateful for my Blessings

Yesterday hubby had to work and 2 of my 3 kids at home were also working so it was a quiet day at home. I decided to take advantage of that and do some stamping. Simon Says Stamp has a thankful theme for their Weds challenge so it was the perfect opportunity for me to put their November card kit to use!

I used the brown cardstock for my card base and created a layer with green patterned paper, with a scallop border created with green cardstock. Another strip of patterned paper was placed across the card and the image panel was created with one of the white prescored cards that came in the kit. I just stamped the sentiment and images on the card and cut the panel to size. The image panel is popped up with dimensionals, as are the leaves on the panel.

I think I'll send this to a good friend of mine...it's been a rough year for her family and I want them to know how much I treasure their friendship!

Color the Decade for Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Tara is our hostess and she has a fun challenge for us....create a project based on a decade and also use color blocking.

I had to sit and think about the decade portion a bit. I was a child of the 80's, all the big hair and neon colors but I didn't want to go that route. I happened to be reading a book about WWII and some naval battles and I started thinking about the war period and how US women took on pivotal roles in the work force while men were at war across the globe. Of course the most famous image from that period is Rosie the Riveter,  and so that's what I decided to go with for my card.

For my color blocking I used Night of Navy and Hello Honey to mimic the colors that can be found in the Rosie the Riveter flyers. I paper pierced around the edges of each block and then adhered them to a Whisper White card base. I took a Rosie image from the net and printed it out on Whisper White cardstock and then popped that up with dimensionals across the blocks of color. To finish the card I off I stamped a sentiment from the retired hostess set Perfect Words, punched it out and adhered it at the top of the card.

The DT really came up with some fun cards this week so make sure to go check them all out at The Friday Mashup blog and then play along with us!

This week's Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using a Decades theme (60s/70s/80s/etc) .
  • Create a project with Color Blocking .
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project using a Decades theme and Color Blocking.
