Dashing By

It was a busy weekend with a road trip to Denali National Park but this afternoon I managed to squeeze in some time to play along with the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!

I've had this Pure Innocence image colored and sitting on my desk for a while now and really needed to figure out what to do with it. When I saw the FMS sketch I thought it would be the perfect layout for this image!

I used  MFT dies to cut my squares out of some retired SU DSP and then I popped my image up over the squares, pointed a tad down so it looked like she had some forward motion. Then I took my sentiment and stamped it underneath the bottom square. To finish the card off I took some of the tree DSP (middle square) and put a strip of that across the bottom inside of the card. Easy peasy!

There is still a bit of time to play along with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge, they close it at noon PST on Mondays!

Make the Holidays Bright

It's Sunday and you know what that means, another challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog! This time it's my turn to bring you a fun and easy sketch to work with.

For my card I decided to use the brand new Christmas Pure Innocence image released by MFT. I just adore the Pure Innocence stamp line and this latest addition is just too cute, I love it! I colored the image with copic markers and then used some retired SU DSP for my background. The sentiment was stamped on a banner and then popped up for some added dimension.

So Thankful

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great week. I was able to go back to work finally and it felt so good to be back at the school.

Today we have a brand new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this time we have a fun color challenge. I went ahead and used the photo for my inspiration, coloring up a fun sunflower digital stamp from Power Poppy. I used some retired SU DSP for my background paper.

The layout for my card comes from the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.

Here for You

I'm on a forced 10 day staycation so it's the perfect time to play along with some challenges! For today's card I am playing along with the fun sketch challenge over at The Paper Players.

One of my coworkers lost her brother the other day so I was asked to make a card that everyone could sign and give to her. I decided to use the SU set Color and Contour. I pulled out the SU DSP Pattern Party and decided to make Pool Party my dominant color with some yellow tossed in and just a tad of green.

Thanks for stopping by!

Time for You

Happy Sunday! It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun sketch from Stef!

For my card I used a set from the SU winter mini catalog called Reflected in Nature. As soon as I saw this set I had to have it, it is so me!

I went with a black and white theme, using DSP from the Sale-A-Bration catalog called Beautifully Penned. I just thought this paper was perfect for a peaceful look on my card. I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black and then popped it up with dimensionals against the DSP.

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you do with this sketch!

Bewitchingly Cute

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a great color combo for everyone to work with!

As soon as I saw these colors I immediately thought of Halloween . Maybe it's because fall is quickly approaching here in Alaska or maybe it's just because I'm ready for Halloween but either way that's what I went with for my card! I used the orange, purple and green colors from the graphic.

I used the set 'Boo Crew' from MFT and used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the layout. I haven't played along with them in ages so it was nice to be able to join in on their challenge too! It took me a bit to decide how I wanted to do the background but I finally decided on the embossed spiderweb background using a SU folder.

Friends Like You

Hello friends! It's been a while since I posted, I know. Life and work has gotten in the way of my creative time but I'm trying to change that!

Today a brand new challenge starts over at the Sunday Stamps blog and it's a fun sketch challenge from Melissa!

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use a new set from SU that is coming out in the July-Dec. Mini Catalog. This image is from a set called Joyful Life and I just love this bear and his bunny friend on a bike ride. I smile every time I look at it!

My colors for the image came from the DSP I used, Pattern Party. This DSP is part of the Hostess Rewards in the annual SU catalog and is well worth it, the patterns are so fun!

Make sure you head over to the rest of the DT blogs to see what they created and then play along with the sketch yourself, we'd love to see how everyone interprets it!

Happiest of Birthdays

Happy Sunday! It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun sketch from Heather to play along with!

I always need birthday cards so I decided to make a card using the SU set Happiest of Birthdays. It's nice and simple and right now time is at a premium for me so simple is a good thing!

I used one of my favorite color combos, blue and yellow. One day I wondered why I used this combo so much and one of my best friends pointed out that the Alaska flag is blue and yellow, so I must be carrying the love of my state into my creating. I liked that answer :) No matter what the reason though the yellow and blue makes for such a happy combination!

Happy Mother's Day

Oooops! I thought this had posted last Sunday but I guess not. My bad!

We have a brand new color challenge over at Sunday Stamps and the colors are perfect for spring.

For my card I used a SU set called Welcoming Window and it's coordinating dies. I used a stone background stamp to get a bit of a cottage look, using the 2 bottom colors in the graphic. Then I used the yellow and 2 blues from the graphic to create the rest of the card. I really like how it came out!

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT team created and then play alon g with us, you have until 6pm EST on 4/30 to join in the fun!

Hope Your Day Blooms

I'm stuck home getting over COVID ( I had a very mild case, nothing too serious compared to what others have dealt with) and today I finally had some energy to go into my craft room and create. I decided to play along with Freshly Made Sketches since the current challenge ends Monday at noon.

For my card I used an image from a retired Power Poppy set called Bloomin' Wonderful. I just love this simple image that captures the beginning of spring so perfectly (not that I'll see any color for a while, we still have 2 ft of snow at my place!). I colored it with copics and then used a die from MFT to cut the paper similar to how the sketch is. It's not quite the same but I think it's close enough that you can still see the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Wishes

I've been wanting to play along with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge all week and finally found some time today to create!

As soon as I saw this sketch I knew it would work perfectly with the now-retired set from Power Poppy called Natural Beauties. Thankfully although the clear set is retired you can still find the images in 2 digital sets in the Power Poppy store, HERE and HERE.

My card is one layer. I stamped the image across the bottom and then colored it with my copic markers. After I finished coloring it I stamped a sentiment from the set in green ink. Nice and simple!

There is still time to play along in the sketch challenge, they close it at 12pm PST Monday!

Thanks for stopping by!

Thinking of You

I'm jumping in and playing along with the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. A friend needed me to make a card for a male friend of hers battling cancer and so I wanted to keep it simple. The sketch by Jen M. was the perfect thing!

I used the SU set Rustic Retreat and stamped the deer and sentiment in Soft Suede, adding a bit of Mossy Meadow to the grass under the deer. The paper is from the Neutrals DSP pack and I used the wood pattern in Soft Suede and Mossy Meadow. For a little extra visual punch I did some paper piercing around all the edges.

The sketch does call for a square but Jen said we could also go rectangle if we preferred so that's what I did.

Sunny Tulips

Happy Sunday! It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a bright and cheery color challenge to work with!

For my card I used a retired set from Power Poppy called Loving Tulips and I used the last 3 colors on the challenge graphic on my card. I just love the yellow and green together, it makes for such a happy card. This card will be going to a woman fighting cancer so cheerful and sunny is definitely needed.

Getting Blocked

Happy Sunday! It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a sketch challenge for you with a bonus choice! You get 2 sketches to choose from plus Heidi has also give the option of color blocking so there are SO many possibilities with this challenge.

I haven't had any time to really sit and color so I decided to print out a digital stamp from Power Poppy called Pansies. I absolutely adore this set, it is so fun to color and always relaxes me.

After I colored the image I cut it into 3 panels and then did paper piercing along the open white edges to provide a bit of contrast. The sentiment is also from the digital set and so I made it a golden yellow color, printed it and then mounted it on the same purple cardstock that I used for the card base, popping it up with dimensionals. While I did use colors opposite each other on the color wheel I didn't do the true definition of color blocking but that's ok, close enough right? LOL

Make sure you head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us, we'd love to see how you interpret the sketch(es)!

You Can and You Will

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun color combo to play along with!

I friend of mine asked me for an inspirational/encouraging card so I started by figuring out the sentiment I wanted to use. I grabbed one from the Power Poppy set M-Powering Words (it's a retiring set but you can still pick it up for a deeply discounted price!). I then looked at the colors and decided which ones I wanted to use for the image panel. I went with the yellow and gray in the photo and stamped the background stamp with both colors. The gray got a bit muddy but it's there, I promise :) I then stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral on top of the yellow/gray background.

The background paper I used is some retired SU DSP I have in my stash. As soon as I saw the color of this challenge I instantly thought of this paper and it ended up working out perfectly!

Blowing You a Kiss

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun color challenge for you!

For my card I used a Pure Innocence stamp from MFT called Winter Kisses. I used the reds from the graphics on her hat, scarf, gloves, coat pockets and boots and then the dark gray for the rest of her outfit. I snuck in a bit of the cinnamon color as her shirt that's visible below the scarf and her hair is also the cinnamon/brown color.

The layout is from this weeks Freshly Made Sketches. I haven't been able to play along with them in what seems like forever and this weeks sketch is such a fun one! My patterned paper came from a Christmas pad that I picked up at Michaels.

The sentiment from the new MFT PI was a bit too long so I used a sentiment from a retired PI that worked perfectly with this image!

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you do with these colors! There is also still some time left to play with Freshly Made Sketches!

Power Poppy Pure Fragrance

Happy Friday! Today Power Poppy has 2 fabulous new images available in the store, Pure Fragrance and Volumes of Beauty. As always these new digital stamps are brimming with gorgeous details and are so fun to color!

For my card I used the Pure Fragrance digital stamp. I just love the pretty arrangement of flowers in the bottle. I decided to use colors that made me think about my grandma and the arrangements she would have around her house. She was a florist and had such a beautiful eye for color and knowing exactly what would look great with what.
