Ghostly Greetings

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun sketch from Heather!

We helped our oldest son move into a new place this weekend and for the first time he is living by himself with no roommates. He is super excited to start decorating for fall and Halloween and not have to deal with roommates that don't enjoy the season as much as he does. My husband and I have always gone all out decorating for Halloween and Christmas so I told my son, guess what, you have turned into your parents ROFL

His excitement over his next adventure in life has me excited and so I decided to do a Halloween themed card. I used a set from MFT called Fab-Boo-Lous Friends. The images in this set are too cute and just the perfect size for the 3 elements in the sketch!

I decided to color up a pumpkin, mummy and witch for the 3 and adhered them to green card stock, stamping the sentiment in black below them. I sponged the edges of the green panel in black to better blend in with the patterned paper I used. The patterned paper is from a paper pad I got at JoAnn's (I think) last year. I love the papers in it!

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us! We'd love to see how you interpret the sketch!

Christmas Door

I'm still in a Christmas card making mood (well, when am I not lol) and so I decided to make another card for Mo's Digital Pencil. It's an Anything Goes challenge with an optional theme of Christmas.

For my card I used the image Door with Wreath. I love how simple and rustic it is, you can really do whatever you want to this image to make it your own. I grabbed my copics and did some quick coloring, using a pop of red for my shovel and doormat. On the wreath I used a red gel pen to add some berries and then I used a white gel pen to create some snow on various parts of the image.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Tree for Creative Confetti

This week over at Creative Confetti on the Power Poppy blog the challenge is a sketch, and I love me a good sketch! I had the Through the Woods stamp set sitting out on my desk so I decided to use the Christmas tree from the set for my card.

I stamped my image and then used an oval die to cut it out. After coloring it with copics I started to put my card together. I used some retired SU DSP for my background paper and I changed my card just slightly from the sketch....instead of the banner across the bottom portion I just did a strip of red card stock. The bottom of the image is too cute with the little bird to cover up and I hadn't really taken that into consideration when I started the card. So I made the strip and just left off the smaller banner. Julie says that's ok as long as the sketch and inspiration can still be seen in the creation.

It's hard to see in the photo but I used Stickles on the Christmas tree and I also used some Wink of Stella for the snowy portions of the tree.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a Wonderful Adventure

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a color challenge for you. I won't lie, I struggled with this one a bit. I think it was the purple that kept messing with my mind, even though I love all the other colors!

I ended up using the SU set Sea of Textures for my card. I stamped the octopus in Pretty Peacock and then used the die to cut it out. On a base of Whisper White Thick card stock I stamped one of the images from the set in Tempting Turquoise multiple times, then did another image from the set in Garden Green across it, kind of like seaweed floating through the water. I die cut the net out of Basic Black and then popped up my Octopus across the top of the images. I wanted my sentiment to kind of look like it was floating through the water so I stamped it in Pretty Peacock across the bottom of the Tempting Turquoise.

Make sure you head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you do with these colors!

Flowering Santa

Our temps are still nice and low, Hallmark Christmas movies are still playing on my TV and I made another Christmas card :)

I'm playing along with 3 challenges for this card....Freshly Made Sketches, Creative Confetti and Jingle Belles.

As soon as I saw the Freshly Made Sketches sketch I knew I wanted to try it, it's very unique, but I was a bit scared. Then I got an email from Power Poppy where it said they were retiring some Christmas sets and that Flowering Santa would be one of the sets retired. NOOOOOOO!! Thankfully I had bought this set as soon as it came out as it is one of my favorites. It's one-of-a-kind and I just adore it. As I started thinking about how I could use it with the sketch another Power Poppy set came to mind, Snuggle Down. It comes with stamps to make your own plaid pattern....a perfect way to create the border that makes up the sketch! I headed into my craft room and started stamping my pattern using red, green, gray and black as my colors and I carried these colors into my Santa image. After coloring my Santa image with copics I popped it up with dimensionals in the center of my frame.

The Creative Confetti challenge is Christmas in July and seeing that Flowering Santa was retiring inspired me to create another Christmas card for the challenge!

The challenge over at Jingle Belles is a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge and I chose the middle row going down...glitter, red or green and Santa. I used red glitter Stickles on the red dots in Santa's beard, the red and green are the flowers and leaves plus part of the plaid pattern and of course the image is Santa!

Noel

Our heat wave finally seems to be over, wooohooo! The outside temp is 63 degrees and inside my house has fallen below 80 degrees. I've got my Santa leggings on, the Hallmark Christmas movies are playing on the TV and the Power Poppy Creative Confetti challenge is perfect for me today!

This weeks challenge is all about Christmas! Power Poppy also has a sale going on until the 12th where all holiday clear sets and digi's are 30% off so of course I had to grab a couple clear sets to add to my collection. Today's card features an image from one of the sets I just got, Spice It Up. I can remember my mother putting cloves in oranges and then spreading cinnamon sticks around them so this image definitely took me back to my childhood.

I'm very traditional when it comes to Christmas colors so having yellow and orange on a Christmas card is definitely new for me but I think the colors work well with the paper I decided to go with. The strip of orange DSP across the bottom really pops against the brown strip and I'm really happy with how it looks!

Make sure you pop on over to the Power Poppy blog to play along, it's always a lot of fun!

Dachshund Through the Snow

Today is a bit better heat wise, we are in the 80's, which next to the 90's is more tolerable, but the wildfire smoke is really heavy today. My craft room isn't too hot and the smoke doesn't hit the rooms in the back of the house as much so I headed in to create a card for the latest challenge over at Mo's Digital Pencil.

This months challenge is Anything Goes with an optional theme of Christmas. That's my favorite type of card to make so I saw that and was like wooohooo! For my card I used brand new images that just went into Mo's shop the other day, this is called the Dachshund Sleigh Set. I have 2 mini dachshunds named Anna and Elsa so of course I had to get this set!

My Anna girl is a chocolate dachshund so I colored the dogs with her as inspiration. I tried my hand at my first night sky and added snow falling with a white gel pen. I also used a gold gel pen on the sleigh and a silver one for the bells around the necks of the dogs. There are also white and silver accents on the trees in the landscape.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cozy Winter Wishes

We're having record breaking temps in my area of Alaska and I've been avoiding my craft room because the entire house is just so hot! It's the first time I've ever regretted not having blinds on the big window in my craft room. I really wanted to play along with the Power Poppy Creative Confetti and Jingle Belles Challenges though so I dove into my craft room today before the hottest part of the day moved in!

For the Creative Confetti challenge we were to create a project based on inspiration from the sneak peeks the DT held for the fabulous new clear sets Marcy just released. There were so many awesome cards made by the DT members that it was really hard to narrow it down! For this card I was inspired by the fabulous layout that Allison Cope used on her card HERE. I love how clean the card is and how the image is in the bottom right corner with the sentiment off to the left, plus the top of the card with some simple paper and a simple border.

For the Jingle Belles challenge they have a fun Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, I always enjoy those. I went with the diagonal row that has stamping, red or green and ribbon. My main image is stamped, as is the sentiment, and red and green can be found in both of those as well as the paper and of course the red ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by!

Love You Bunches

Today's card features an image from Mo's Digital Pencil that is only available to her Patreon subscribers right now. Have you checked out her Patreon page? If not, head on over! There are 3 different tiers you can sign up for and for each tier you get special offers, discounts and access to free or pre-release images, all while supporting a talented artist. It's a win-win situation for everyone!

I just think this image is too cute! It's called 'Dandelions' and it's a little girl holding a big bouquet of dandelions. I have to admit, I'm one of those people that will leave the dandelions in my yard long enough for the bees to do their thing and then I pull them out and they go into my burn pit.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hydrangea Hi

One of my favorite teachers at the school I work at has been gone since Christmas break, she took a horrible fall coming into the school and has been out recovering. Her husband updated me on her progress a few weeks ago and it looks like she will be able to return this upcoming school year. I've been sending her cards to let her know I've been thinking about her but it's been a while since the last one so I colored up this one for her today and will put it in the mail tomorrow!

I used a digital stamp from Power Poppy called Hydrangea Hype. I just think it's so pretty, plus I love hydrangeas, although I haven't had any luck with them here in Alaska.

I also colored this up for the Creative Confetti Challenge but missed the link up before it closed, ooops!
