Shades of Blue for Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday! We've got a new challenge over at Sunday Stamps and it's all about shades of blue, with a pop of some green and gray. The colors I used for the challenge are the green, the gray, some dark blue (sentiment) and white as my neutral.

I went with a Christmas card for my design (shocker). The papers from the retired SU DSP All is Calm was just perfect for this challenge.  I love the Pear Pizazz against the gray. The colors I used for the challenge are the green, the gray, some dark blue (sentiment) and white as my

I used the current Freshly Made Sketches as my jumping point for my card, and the long panel on the right was the perfect spot for this PI image from My Favorite Things. I embossed the panel to get some texture. Sorry for the poor picture, it's been raining all week and I was in a hurry!

Head over to Sunday Stamps to see what the rest of the team created and then play along with us!

Silent Night in Threes

Whew! It's amazing how time slips away from me. I've been wanting to play along with the Jingle Belles latest challenge and just realized it closes this Weds so I got to work on a card.

This week the challenge is to create in multiple of three...3 circles, 3 reindeer's, 3 ribbons......anything like that as long as there is three. This stamp set from SU immediately popped into my head because it's one of my favorite images and it has 3 trees, perfect to use for this challenge!!

Here in southcentral Alaska our trees have lost their luster and some leaves are already starting to change. Fall is on it's way but I've definitely got winter on my mind. Today's card was inspired by my favorite thing....dark snowy nights.

I love to sit out on my porch at night when it's snowing and watch the flakes fall around the landscape. We have woods around us and there is just something magical to me about watching the snow fall and dance upon the branches of the trees. It's something that never gets old to me!

I wanted the 3 threes to be the highlight of the card so I decided to heat emboss them in white, and then I took a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge set and stamped it to look like big snowflakes falling down around the trees. I added the simple sentiment at the top of the card and stamped it in red just to give a pop of color against the black and white. The picture really doesn't do the card justice, it is so pretty and serene in person!

Stamps: Wonderland, Gorgeous Grunge (both SU)
Paper: Basic Black, Neenah Solar White
Ink: Versamark, Real Red, White Craft Ink (all SU)

Worlds Beary Best Dad

This week The Paper Players have a Tic- Tac- Toe challenge and I really enjoy those so I sat down to make a card tonight before the challenge ended. I originally was going to do 'masculine, patterned paper, texture" but I couldn't decide on a paper that I was happy with so I instead went with the very bottom row across "texture, scene, die cut".

Right now I've got bear on the brain....I watch the bear cam on explore.org every night and next month is our trip to Denali Natl Park, where we get to drive the park road all the way to the end. Last time I drove the road I saw some big bears so I'm hoping that this time doesn't disappoint either. Since my brain is so focused on bears I decided to use the set Dad + Me from Lawn Fawn.

I created my little scene by stamping the mtns in Always Artichoke and then layering them inside the MFT Stitched Cover Up Horizontal Die. The sky above the mountains is Lost Lagoon and for texture I embossed some Garden Green card stock with the retired SU Square Lattice EF. This reminds me of the grassy meadows you can often find bears in. I gave Mr. Bear a hat and then popped him up with dimensionals. I was going to add a few cubs but male bears usually eat cubs and since I'm "that type of person" I couldn't bring myself to add the babies. I'll let the sentiment do the talking LOL

Thanks for stopping by!
