Sending Healing Thoughts

This week the challenge over at Creative Confetti is to use a Power Poppy bouquet of flowers on your project. Our challenge hostess, Julie K, is ready for spring but not me, I'd keep my cold temps and snow all year if I could!

I knew right away that I wanted to use the set Daffodils. I think daffodils are so pretty and I love all the different shades of yellow they come in. Yellow is such a happy color and even though winter is my favorite season I do like seeing the spring flowers when they start to pop up, which is usually the end of May around my neck of the woods!

I tried to color the daffodils in 2 different shades of yellow...I went with a pale shade and then a darker yellow. The grape hyacinth are the perfect accent for the daffodils and I colored those in with a shade of blue-violet.

I actually took my card apart 3 times before I found a layout that made me happy LOL The sentiment is from the Nice Things to Say stamp set, I thought it went well with this bouquet.

Thanks for stopping by!

Watercolored Geraniums

This week for the Creative Confetti Challenge over at Power Poppy Julie wants us to try coloring in new ways, ways that we may normally not try coloring in. This challenge made me cringe because I am not artistic at all, I can barely manage with copics LOL However I decided to bite the bullet and try something out of my comfort zone.

I bought these Zig Clean Color Real Brushes a few years ago and I think I've used them once or twice. Watercoloring scares me and even though everyone says watercoloring is so forgiving I feel like I manage to screw it up every time, so I avoid doing it. I grabbed the markers from my drawer, gave myself a pep talk and dove in!

I used the Geraniums Take Two clear set for my coloring. I love to do potted plants on my front deck and geraniums always do great, they are one of my favorite plants to work with. I love the bright red geraniums, I think they are so pretty! With the image I started with the leaves first, working in different layers of 2 colors of green. I then went to work on the flowers, only using a red marker and a water brush to help spread the color. Overall I like how the leaves came out but I think the color on the flowers could have been deeper. I gave it a try though, so thanks to Julie for pushing me out of my comfort zone!

Wish You Luck

This week over at The Paper Players they have a fun sketch and I had the perfect image laying around!

I had colored 2 of these Power Poppy images the other day as part of The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge and so  I grabbed the image where I used the brighter greens and went to work on my card. I embossed some white card stock and then for the 2 strips I used some paper I had in my stash. I had printed the sentiment out when I printed the image so I cut that out to fit my card and then I popped up the image with dimensionals.

I'm also entering this in the Power Poppy Creative Confetti Take 10 Challenge, as this card was super quick to put together once I had the idea in my head!

Thanks for stopping by!

I Thought of you Today

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun color challenge! These colors are perfect for creating a project that highlights elements of nature, whether its a sunrise or sunset or flowers.

For my card I chose to go with flowers, and I used a set from the SU Occasions Catalog called Climbing Roses. I colored the roses in with the last 2 colors in the graphic, and although it's hard to see I colored the leaves yellow first and then did a quick swipe of green on them to keep the green color toned down since it's not on the graphic but I couldn't avoid using it! My choice of neutral was Crumb Cake, using that as my card base and also as the piece the sentiment is stamped on.

Make sure and head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Happy Easter

For today's card I am playing along with the new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. I haven't been feeling much mojo lately but when I saw this sketch I knew I wanted to pull out an image I had recently colored for The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge.

The paper is some I had in my stash and so I cut that for the bottom half of the card, rounded the bottom edges and then I used a die from MFT to create the middle strip. I popped up the image with dimensionals and then stamped the sentiment.

I kind of feel like I'm toeing the line for the sketch but after looking at some of the DT cards I think I'm ok. I'm going to try and get a card made that has a larger sentiment as the focal point though.

Thanks for stopping by!

Slow Circles of Nature

Well it was nice while it lasted but once again I'm behind on challenges LOL It's tough this time of year because winter is my favorite season and we just got a foot of new snow over the weekend so I was outside playing in the snow and wandering with my camera, talking photos of the furry visitors that come into my yard. I need to catch up on some challenges though!

Today is a quick card for last weeks Power Poppy Creative Confetti Challenge, which was to create a card in 10 mins or less. This quote is from the Graceful Still Life digital stamp set and one of the Bloomies, Cindy Lawrence, had used this inside of a card and I liked the way she just colored a few of the words. I decided to CASE her and just make mine the focal point of an encouragement card. Quick and easy and less than 10 mins!

Moose Scene

I've been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge over on Instagram and I colored up this moose image last night. It's called Moose Scene by DoveArt Studios and this is definitely a scene that you can find in my area! I've seen some  enormous bull moose, especially in Denali National Park.

I kept the card simple and it will be great for a masculine birthday or Fathers Day.

Heartfelt Thank You

Oooops, I had a lot going on this weekend and forgot to do my post for Sunday Stamps, my bad! I swear if I don't write it on my "to do" list it doesn't happen. The joys of getting older LOL (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

Amy has a fun sketch this week for us, with a heart as the focal point. The Forget-Me-Not Heart Digital Stamp from Power Poppy was perfect for this sketch and is one of my favorite digi's from PP.

I colored in the image with my copics after printing it out and then used some dies from MFT to create my borders under the heart. I kept it all pretty simple, using the same colors I had used on my flowers.

Make sure to head on over to The Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us, we'd love to see how you interpret the sketch!

Worth Melting For

This week The Paper Players have a theme challenge and it's all about love. My 25th wedding anniversary is Tues Feb.5th so it's an easy theme for me this week!

My card is definitely not your traditional love card! My husband (yes, my husband) is a HUGE fan of the Frozen movie and has a huge collection of Frozen stuff in his man cave. Our 2 mini dachshunds are named Elsa and Anna, I mean c'mon now LOL When I saw that Isabel Cristina recently added the digital set "Winter Princess" to her Etsy shop I just had to get the set so I could make cards for hubby and our anniversary was the perfect opportunity.

I used the sketch from last weeks Paper Players challenge for my card. My paper is from a Frozen Paper Stack I got at Walmart, I think. I die cut a circle from Marina Mist and then embossed that with a snowflake pattern. I colored Olaf and Elsa with my copics and added Wink of Stella all over both images. I also used my silver gel pen to add some sparkle to Elsa's dress. I printed out one of the sentiments from the digital set, adhered that across the circle and then popped up the images with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Easter

I'm squeaking in at the last minute with a card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I spent the afternoon watching the Super (Snooze) Bowl and then went out and enjoyed the 8 inches of snow we got today!! I love snow so that was definitely the best part of my day. However I had this card sitting on my craft desk waiting to be finished so here it is.

I decided to get going on Easter cards and used one of my favorite Pure Innocence stamps, I think she is just too cute! The paper is from a Doodlebug pad I had in my stash and I used a die to cut strips from different colors and patterns. I also used some of the pink paper in the pad to paper piece the girls dress. I popped the image up with dimensionals and then finished the card off by stamping 'Happy Easter' in green.

Thanks for stopping by!
