Merry Christmas for Sunday Stamps

I'm a day late with my Sunday Stamps post. Just another week and a half and I'll be back to working nights and no more crazy schedule interfering with my stamping time!

This week at Sunday Stamps Joan has a great sketch for us! I'm in a Christmas mood(when am I not!) and so I pulled out a set I just got, Chock-Full of Cheer, to work with. I just love the mittens in this set so I decided to make those my main focal point. The DSP is out of the holiday catalog and is called  Snow Festival, lots of great patterns in this one! I embossed the ovals with the Snow Burst EF to give them a little more pop and then sponged the edges with Soft Suede.

Make sure you head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to check out all the other great projects from the rest of the design team and then why don't you play along with us? We'd love to see what you do with this sketch!

Paper: Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Snow Festival DSP
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Soft Suede, Versamark

Christmas in July for Friday Mashup

It's the end of July and for most of the US this summer has been the hottest on record. Here where I live its been the coldest July on record, and I love it! I love the cold and I love Christmas so for today's Friday Mashup challenge I decided to do a Christmas in July theme. I love making Christmas cards all year long, they are actually my favorite card to make! You can also make a project and decorate the inside if it, make it just as pretty as the outside or you can mash it up and do both....make a Christmas card and decorate the inside of the card also! I cant wait to see what everyone comes up with!

  1. Make a project "For Christmas."
  2. Or Make a "Greeting Card & Decorate the Inside."
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Christmas Card & Decorate the Inside."

Tradtional Green for Jingle Belles

It's the second week of the challenge over at Jingle Belles and since I went with red last week, this week I am going with green! Green is my favorite color(I just adore Forest Green) and I am really liking SU's new In Color Gumball Green. It was the perfect color to use with a new Christmas set coming out in the holiday catalog(which goes live Aug.1). I love trees, I love the Christmas carol 'Silent Night' and I love the color green, so this card came together pretty quickly for me! It's hard to tell in the picture but I used Vanilla paper for the background pieces with accents of Early Espresso.

Make sure you head over to the Jingle Belles blog and check out all the great cards made for this challenge!

Thank You for Sunday Stamps

It's time for another Sunday Stamps challenge and I'm actually on time this week with my card. Someone call Mike Wallace! :)

This week its a color challenge using the colors Soft Suede, So Saffron and Riding Hood Red. I used a hostess set called 'Four Seasons' that's in the new catalog. I just love this set!

These colors remind me of fall so I grabbed one of the images that is a bit on the summer side, but can also be changed a bit by using a fall color scheme.

Make sure you head on over to Sunday Stamps to check out all the great inspiration from the rest of the design team and then play along with us!

Summer Fun with Friday Mashup

It's time for another Friday Mashup challenge and since its still Friday in my neck of the woods I am getting it in on time :)

This week Heidi is our hostess and its all about summer fun mixed with a sketch! Here in Alaska we're well into our summer, with school registration already happening and school getting ready to resume Aug.16. Right now the wildflowers are in full bloom and my yard is covered with fireweed, a beautiful flowering plant that is also used to signal the onset of winter here. Legend says that when the top flower blooms(it flowers from bottom to top) there are only 6 weeks until winter. Needless to say I am always on the lookout for that last flower, as I am a winter loving gal! However, I do enjoy sitting in my yard, watching the birds and just enjoying the peace of my yard during the summer so that's why I used this image from the new SU hostess set 'Summer Afternoon'. I just love this set and had to have it the minute the minute I laid eyes on it.

In light of the tragic events in Aurora CO today I also think the sentiment from this set speaks volumes: "Nothing is worth more than this day- Goethe". My thoughts are with the community of Aurora and all of those touched by the horrific tragedy in CO.
  1. Make a project with "the Sketch."
  2. Or Make a project w/ a "Lazy Summer Day theme (under the shade of a tree/ biking / Swimming / Sitting in an Adirondack chair)."
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project w/ the "Sketch & the Lazy Summer Day Theme."
 The pink flowers are fireweed:

Dasher Christmas

This card was made for 2 challenges....

Over at the Jingle Belles blog this week they are teaming up with the talented June Houck for a color challenge and it involves 2 very popular Christmas colors, red and green. The catch? You can only use 1 of the colors on your card...that's right, either red or green but you cant use both colors on the same card! Now I love red and green so I was a bit scared at first but then I jumped right into it and went with red, brown and kraft for my colors. I added Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details around the reindeer's swirls to give the image a little more 'pop'.

I'm so sad though...I've been hoarding this particular SU Christmas DSP since 2010 and I only have a few pieces left, boooo! This is some of my favorite paper ever!

The second challenge is this weeks sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. It's a great sketch from Tui Nathan and I'm squeaking this one in a few hours before the linky closes!

Make sure you check out both blogs and their great challenges!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Dasher
Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Deck the Halls DSP
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Big Shot, Snow Burst EF, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, sponge, dimensionals

Yellow and Gray for Wedding Day

We're headed to a wedding this afternoon and the colors for the big day are yellow and gray, which are pretty popular right now.

It's going to be  nice, simple outdoor Alaskan wedding and so I wanted the card to be a bit elegant, yet simple at the same time. I think I ended up with a nice balance on this card. Other than the ribbon I didn't add any embellishments to the card, to keep the eye on the main image in the center of the panel.

This could also fit into 1 half of the Friday Mashup challenge, as I made a matching envelope to go with the card!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Love & Laughter
Paper: So Saffron, Going Gray, Whisper White, Basic Gray DSP
Ink: So Saffron, Basic Gray
Accessories: Big Shot, Nestabilities Standard Circle Large and Lacey Circles, So Saffron ribbon, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF, sponge, dimensionals

Flags and Envelopes for Friday Mashup

I am late with my Friday Mashup post, I know! Only a few more weeks of working 4 by 10's and I'll be back to my night schedule, with plenty of time to get my crafts done during the day. So if you can put up with my crazy, late posts for a bit longer I'd be most grateful!

This weeks Friday Mashup challenge is all about flags/pennants and matching envelopes. Now I have to admit, I have not jumped on the pennant bandwagon. I know that it's one of the hot crafting things right now but pennants just don't do much for me. I decided to jump on the 'flag' portion of the challenge and used the Land of the Free flag stamp to create the background for my card. I mashed up the challenge by adding a simple triangle of Pacific Point DSP to my envelope to create some unity between the card and envelope.

I added Dazzling Details to the letters but unfortunately the gray day we're having doesn't showcase how pretty and sparkly the letters are

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup to see all the great cards from the rest of the design team!

  1. Make a project with a "Banner or Flag."
  2. Or Make a project with a "Matching Envelope."
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with a "Banner / Flag & a Matching Envelope."

Olympic Inspiration for Friday Mashup

It's the first Friday of July, summer is just rolling along! I hope my Canadian friends had a wonderful Canada Day on July 1st, and I hope all the US folks had a fun 4th of July!

Today's Friday Mashup is also in the vein of celebration...we are celebrating the summer Olympics! DT member Amy is bringing us the challenge and since she is in the UK she is really seeing the buzz surrounding the London Olympics.

Amy wants us to create a project using the colors of the Olympic rings( we suggest  Marina Mist, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi & Real Red but any colors that are close will work), make a project using multiple circles or mash it up and create a project with circles that uses the colors of the Olympic rings!

Be sure to head over to The Friday Mashup and check out all the great projects from the DT team. I love how we all interpreted the challenge, and I'd love to see how YOU interpret the challenge!
  1. Make a project with "The Olympic Colour Combination of Marina Mist, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi & Red."
  2. Or Make a Project using "Multiple Circles."
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with the "Olympic Color Combo and Multiple Circles."

Crumb Artichoke Lovely Tree

I hope all my friends in the US had a great 4th of July today! Hubby had to work today so we BBQ'd when he got home and then we just hung out with the kids. We have 22 hrs of daylight right now so fireworks really aren't impressive this time of year...we save that fun for New Years Eve!

Thanks to the holiday I did get a paid day off from work and that enabled me to get some stamping done. For this card I combined 2 challenges...Dynamic Duos and Freshly Made Sketches. This is my 3rd card using this weeks Dynamic Duos challenge, so you can tell I like it! I did switch it up though and instead of a red color I used Always Artichoke. :)

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Crumb Cake, To The Nines Specialty DSP(retired), Watercolor Paper, Very Vanilla(inside card)
Ink: Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke
