CSAYL Card Set Challenge #1

A new challenge has started over at the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long blog and its a card set challenge. You have to create a set of at least 3 cards and it doesnt have to be Christmas cards. It can be for birthdays, anniversaries, Thanksgiving, etc. Just make 3 or more of the same card! For this first challenge Maria issued a sketch challenge, and here is what it looks like:

I decided to use the Happiness Is A Journey set. I loved this set from the minute I saw it but didnt buy it until I saw it on the retired list this year. I immediately bought it and planned on making cards for my grandpa, who had retired from the railroad and for my husband, who just loves trains. In May 2009 my grandfather passed away and I never did get a card done with this set to send him and that just breaks my heart. He spent 40 yrs working as a signal maintainer for Conrail(once known as New York Central and Penn Central) in western MA and any picture of a train made him smile. When both Grandma and Grandpa retired they travelled all across the US by train and made wonderful friends thanks to their many journeys. So Grandpa, wherever you are, I hope you can see this card and that you like it. I love you and miss you terribly!

Here is the card I came up with for this challenge:

Supplies used(all supplies Stampin'Up! unless otherwise noted):
Stamps-Happiness Is A Journey
Paper-Vintage Violet, Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Cranberry Crisp, Very Vanilla
Ink-Cranberry Crisp, Always Artichoke
Accessories-Cuttlebug, brads, dimensionals

CSAYL Challenge #27

I cant believe we're on challenge 27 already at CSAYL! I should take a photo of my Christmas card bin, as it is getting very full!

This weeks challenge is being hosted by Sankari of Sankaris Sunshine Corner and she wants us to create cards that have snowmen as the main focal point. No problem, I ADORE snowmen! I love winter for many reasons, one of those being that I can bring out all of my snowmen and enjoy them for months, both inside and out! In these photos(the first one isnt the best quality, sorry for that!) you can see snowmen at Christmas is a favorite of mine :)

For my card I chose the Flaky Friends set. I love these snowmen! They are just so fun! Once again I went with a simply layout, as they are my favorite :) These snowmen are just so darn cute that I didnt want to get distracted with a lot of elements on the card. What can I say, I'm just a simple type of gal! I used dimensionals to pop up the snowman and stickles along the bottom of the snowmen.

Supplies used(all supplies Stampin'Up! unless otherwise noted):
Stamps-Flaky Friends,Merry Messages
Paper- Real Red, Whisper White, PP by S.E.I(the new Glitzmas set, I love it!)
Ink-StazOn Black, Basic Black, Real Red
Accessories- Stickles, SU Markers, Brads, Blender Pen

CSAYL #26

It's time for challenge #26 over at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long! This week was definitely a challenge for me. Maria provided a sketch and we could make a gate card, a card jacket or just a regular card based on the sketch. I decided to try a gate card, even though I've never done one before and I really hate trying to figure out measurements, etc :)

It took me a few days but I finally came up with a card I like.I deviated from the sketch a bit but not having the rounded corners but other than that I think I did a pretty decent job! LOL I used the Magic Snowflake technique that can be found on Splitcoast.

Here is Maria's sketch and my card:

Supplies used(all Stampin'Up! unless otherwise stated):
Stamps-The Snowflake Spot, sentiment from SU but I dont know what set..label says from 1998...
Paper-Bravo Burgundy, Glossy White, Blush Blossom, PP by Kelly Panacci
Ink- Craft white, Bravo Burgundy, Vintage Violet and Rich Razzleberry ink refills
Accessories-White embossing powder, heat gun, 70% rubbing alcohol, cotton balls, Versamark, Bravo Burgundy ribbon, Coluzzle

Mojo Monday and Monday Stamps

I'm knocking out 2 challenges with this card. The layout is from Mojo Monday . I really like this layout and am going to have to use it again in the future. The 2nd challenge was for my friend Holly's blog, Inka Dinka Doodle, where she hosts Monday Stamps. The letter this week was 'U', and I only had 1 set that started with that letter, the Unfrogettable set. Funny thing was that when I took a break from making my frog card I went to mow the lawn and guess what I saw in my garden, jumping through my lettuce? Yep, a frog! The little guy was fast though--I tried to catch him and he hopped right into the fireweed. Oh well!

Here is my card:

Supplies used(All supplies Stampin'Up! unless otherwise noted):
Stamps-Unfrogettable
Paper-Whisper White,Soft Suede, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Bordering Blue, PP by Three Bugs In A Rug
Ink-StazOn Black, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Soft Suede, Forest Foilage
Accessories- Old Olive ribbon, dimensionals, blender pen, Wiggle Eyes, 24 gauge wire

Taking care of 3....

This card incorporates 3 challenges:
1.)Holly's Monday Stamp Challenge at Inka Dinka Doodle
2.)Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge # 25
3.)Mojo Monday Week 95

The letter of the week on Holly's blog is the letter 'T', so I used the set Trim The Tree and then used this weeks layout sketch on Mojo Monday. On CSAYL we had to decorate both the front and inside of a Christmas card. This was a good one for me as I tend to leave my cards blank until the last moment. Last year all my Christmas cards were blank so I had to stay up late before mailing them/handing them out and put in a sentiment! I like to tailor my cards and their sentiments towards the personality of the person they're going too, so thats my main reason for leaving them blank. Some of my friends and family like silly little things, others get a more serious card.

Here is the card I came up with:

Supplies used(all supplies Stampin'Up! products unless otherwise noted):

Stamps: Trim The Tree, snowflakes from Trees Three, inside sentiment is misc stamp

Paper: Basic Grey Wassail PP, SU Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke,Very Vanilla

Ink: Always Artichoke, Crushed Curry, Bravo Burgundy,Metallic Silver

Accessories: Dimensionals,Bravo Burgundy ribbon

Too hot to stamp...

We've had temps of 85-90* for about a week or so here in southcentral Alaska, which is NOT the norm. I am not a heat person and basically shut down in temps over 80*(we lived in the CA Mojave Desert for 3 yrs...I hibernated the entire time!).When I went to the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long blog I was excited to see that the challenge this week, hosted by Vicki of Summerthyme Studios, was to create a card without using any stamped images. I breathed a sigh of relief, as my hot, lazy bottom really didnt want to dig through the cabinet for a stamp set, then try and figure out colors, then ink and color, etc.

I've had some embellishments by Debbie Mumm that I bought a few years ago because I thought they were such a great deal on Christmas clearance. Then sadly they were pushed to the back of the stash and forgotten about. When I rearranged my stamp cabinet recently I had come across them and put them out front where I wouldnt forget about them and today I knew they were a great choice for the challenge.

Here are the 2 cards I made for the challenge. As always, I appreciate you stopping by and looking!

Supplies used:
Tree card: Mellow Moss,Riding Hood Red and Always Artichoke(Stampin'Up!),designer paper by MemoryBox 'Frost' collection. Tree and Frame embellishments by Debbie Mumm, brads from Stampin'Up!, Cuttlebug
Snowman card: Bashful Blue, Whisper White and Brushed Silver(Stampin'Up!),designer paper from MemoryBox 'Frost' collection,Snowman and snowflake embellishments from Debbie Mumm
