Adding Sunshine

For this card I am playing along with 2 challenges...the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the Creative Confetti challenge over at Power Poppy.

The sketch this week is a fun one! I embossed a white background and then used a die to cut out my image panel, using the clear stamp set Loving Tulips from Power Poppy. I love yellow tulips so that's the color I decided to go with for my flowers and then I used some yellow patterned paper from my stash against all the white and to carry the yellow theme through. I went with a gray card base, pulling the gray from the vase.

The theme over at Creative Confetti is to plant kindness....."use the word kind in your creation or create something with kindness in mind i.e. thinking of you, just because, etc.". I'm acknowledging the kindness I received from one of the teachers from the school I work at....I'm a night custodian for the school district and after the big earthquake on Nov.30 my original school was severely damaged so we had to move next door to the high school and combine grades 6-12. This meant a whole new routine and classrooms to care for after over 7 yrs of my routine at the middle school. The high school art room is one of my rooms now and the other day the teacher left me a very sweet handmade gift and a lovely card thanking me for the work on her room. I was very touched and wanted to her know what a bright spot that was for me, so I made this card to thank her for her kindness!

Thanks for stopping by!

Baseball Birthday

After a bit of a hiatus Mo's Digital Pencil is back with a challenge blog and for the first challenge back it's Anything Goes with an optional theme of 'spring'.

I'm a baseball fan so for me spring means the start of baseball season, and after the season my football team had I was really looking forward to my baseball team bringing some joy back into my life ROFL The image is called Johnny Baseball and I had him sitting on my desk already colored in blue and gray, otherwise I would have colored him in my teams colors of red and white.

I grabbed some striped DSP because with baseball I always think of pin stripes. I then added a strip of Smoky Slate across the middle of the card to divide the top and bottom. The sentiment was stamped in blue to match the theme and the image is popped up over the middle of the card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pansy Love for Mother's Day

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun color challenge for everyone to play along with!

It's funny, I cannot stand the color purple EXCEPT when it comes to flowers. I love purple flowers, especially pansies. The purple and yellow pansies/johnny jump ups are my absolute favorites and so I decided to use this pansy digital stamp from Power Poppy for my card. I colored the image with purple, yellow and green copics (using 3 of the colors from the graphic) and used my Scan N Cut to cut out the image.

My layout came from this weeks Freshly Made Sketches. I stamped the sentiment on a white panel and then embossed the panel with a folder from SU. I added the vertical strips, using some retired DSP from my stash, and then I popped up the image over the strips. It was all adhered  to a purple card base.

I'm also playing along with the Power Poppy Creative Confetti challenge Think Spring. Pansies are always the first flowers to pop up in my flower beds after the snow melts, they are a sure sign that spring/summer is on the way here in Alaska!

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Bold and Bright with The Color Throwndown

I'm thrilled to be a guest over at The Color Throwndown blog today! The colors are bold and bright...yellow, orange and blue, perfect for those of you that are ready for summer temps and colors!

For my card I used the Dahlia XL stamp from Power Poppy and colored it with orange and yellow copics, I just love that combo for this flower! I then die cut some yellow and orange patterned paper to help highlight the colors of the dahlia. To incorporate the blue I used blue card stock for my base and then stamped the sentiment in blue, and popped that up over the flower.

Make sure to head over to The Color Throwdown blog to see all the fabulous creations and then give the colors a whirl, I'd love to see what you come up with!

Moose Snowboarding

Over at the Inky Paws Challenge they have a sketch so I grabbed my favorite snow boarding moose (from the set Moose Mountain) and made a card.

I've had this image colored and sitting on my desk for a few weeks now so the challenge was the perfect excuse to get him up on a card. I reached into my stash of paper and used some really old SU PP that matched the colors of the moose's snowsuit. I felt like he was just kind of plain popped up on the front so I stamped the sentiment, used a circle punch to cut it out and then adhered that above the ribbon going across the top of the banner.

Thanks for stopping by!

Seeing Three

I'm squeaking in with a card for the Jingle Belles challenge, which closes tomorrow. They want to see 3 of something on our project, so I went with 3 deer.

The layout is an older sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and it's supposed to be 3 circles across the front panel. Instead of circles I used deer from the SU set Dashing Deer. I stamped and die cut one and then just die cut the other 2 out of some card stock. I embossed the Crumb Cake panel and adhered that to some patterned paper I got at my local stamp store. I put all of that on a Chocolate Chip card base and then adhered the 3 reindeer to the front and called it good LOL

Let's Catch Up

I had so much fun making a grid card for the Power Poppy Creative Confetti challenge that I decided to make another one. I was going to do a feminine card this time around but ended up using the Leaping Trout digital image instead. I guess with spring showing it's head here in southcentral Alaska and my husband talking about fishing my brain is just kind of stuck on the fishing themed cards!

Like last time I colored the image with copics and then used a die to cut the image into squares. To get them evenly spaced and lined up I used the frame that gets cut to get it all right and then I pull the frame up and toss it. After I adhered the squares I used a silver gel pen to add some sparkle to the belly of the fish and then I printed out my sentiment and adhered that to the bottom of the card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Those That Inspire Us

It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps blog and this week we have a fun sketch to play along with! As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use the Painted Seasons DSP from the SU Sale-A-Bration. I am in LOVE with this paper! I got 3 pkgs of it and just may try and hoard it for years to come LOL

I cut 3 panels from the DSP, flipping the paper to use the backside on the 2nd panel. I then sponged the edges of each panel to help them blend better against the card base. I used another Sale-A-Bration item, the stamp set Part of My Story, for the sentiment. I used a die from the Rose Trellis Thinlets to frame the sentiment. I then cut out some leaves from the Detailed Leaves Thinlets and added those behind my sentiment.

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see how you interpret the sketch!

Pansies and Thank You

I played along with a color challenge today, which is not something I normally do because color challenges scare me LOL However I saw the colors for this weeks Color Throwdown and knew that some pansy images I had on my desk would be perfect for this!

I used a digital stamp from Power Poppy called Pansies. I have had it printed out and on my desk for a few weeks now so these colors were the perfect thing to get me kicked into gear and coloring. It's funny, I absolutely cannot stand the color purple....except when it comes to pansies. I just adore my purple and yellow pansies, especially the little Johnny Jump-Up's. They make me smile when I see them in my flower beds!

To incorporate the gray I outlined the image with my C1 copic and then I used gray card stock as my card base.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Fly Father's Day

I finally found some time to stamp. I don't know what my problem has been lately, I just have zero creative energy. This weeks Power Poppy Creative Confetti Challenge definitely helped me get motivated though.

This week for Creative Confetti we are asked to create a card using a window pane or grid effect. You can use circles, squares...whatever you want!

I knew exactly what image I wanted to use, the Power Poppy digital stamp Fly Guy. It's probably not an image one would automatically think of for a card like this but hey, that's how I roll LOL

I colored the image and then I used a die I have to cut it into a grid pattern. In her post Julie talked about how scared she was to cut her colored image up and I'm not going to lie, I felt some fear too LOL Thankfully it worked out and I'm really happy with the result!

Thanks for stopping by!
