Here for You

I'm on a forced 10 day staycation so it's the perfect time to play along with some challenges! For today's card I am playing along with the fun sketch challenge over at The Paper Players.

One of my coworkers lost her brother the other day so I was asked to make a card that everyone could sign and give to her. I decided to use the SU set Color and Contour. I pulled out the SU DSP Pattern Party and decided to make Pool Party my dominant color with some yellow tossed in and just a tad of green.

I Love You Ice Skater

I'm squeaking in with a card for The Paper Players Challenge.

For my card I grabbed an image I recently colored for the 30 Day Marker Challenge. I love the Pure Innocence line from MFT and this girl ice skating is one of the fabulous PI stamps. The colors I used for her outfit came from some retired SU DSP I have in my stash, it's some of my favorite Christmas paper and I don't have much left. It's too pretty to keep hoarding though!

I didn't like my white image panel up against the red PP so I did add a layer of teal behind it, then heat embossed the sentiment in white on teal paper and popped the sentiment panel up with dimensionals. I also use some Wink of Stella around the girls skates to make the ice sparkle.

Sending Warm Wishes

2 posts in 2 days? Whoa, I must be sick! Naw, I'm just on my month long vacation, woohooo! I actually have time to play in my craft room again, I love it.

I was scrolling through my blog feed when the current challenge for The Paper Players popped up. It's a color challenge and I immediately thought Christmas! when I saw the colors. I started going through my sets and when I saw Flowering Santa by Power Poppy I knew that was the perfect set to use for these colors. This set is retiring and is only $9.00 right now! (you can also get it in digital form)

I used the Basic Gray on the hair, beard and card base, the Tranquil Tide on the leaves, dots and DSP and the Real Red on the flowers, sentiment and the stitched frame. It's hard to see but I covered the flowers and leaves in clear Wink of Stella.

Here For You

I never like making sympathy cards but this one was especially difficult. This card was made for a dear friend of mine who just lost her son to suicide this past Friday. I've known her and her family for a long time and it just breaks my heart to see her going through this. I wanted to let her know that I'm here for her no matter what she needs.

I knew I wanted to use the Daffodils stamp set from Power Poppy but after that I was a bit lost. Thankfully The Paper Players have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge this week and after looking at the board I knew what I wanted to do...flowers, purple and sympathy.

I've got blueish-purple for the purple hyacinths in the bouquet, and then the crackle background, stitched rectangle and card base are all purple also, along with the sentiment stamped on the rectangle.

Thanks for stopping by, and hug those that are important to you. Life changes so quickly....

Reely Great Day

My friend Claire is the host this week over at The Paper Players and she has a fun sketch for everyone to play along with.

I've been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge on Instagram and colored up this digital stamp from Power Poppy the other day. Since the oval in the sketch can be any shape I decided to use it for my card. I originally just had the white panel but I didn't like how it looked against the patterned paper so I added the chocolate backing, which made my shape go across the 2 strips a bit more than the sketch calls for.

Easter Wishes

I have a ton of colored images just laying around my craft desk and this weeks sketch over at The Paper Players was the perfect excuse to start getting in gear and making cards with them!

For this card I grabbed this MFT Pure Innocence image called I'm All Ears. I paper pieced the dress, using the same paper I used for the background. To break the background into 3 sections I used some pink polka dot patterned paper across the middle section.

Aw Shucks

For today's card I played along with the sketch challenge over at The Paper Players, using an image I colored the other night for The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge.

I used some retired DSP from my hoard, I mean stash, keeping the color in line with what I used to color her clothing. The sentiment was stamped in green and then I cut the ends for a banner look. I popped the image up with dimensonals for some added dimension.

Wish You Luck

This week over at The Paper Players they have a fun sketch and I had the perfect image laying around!

I had colored 2 of these Power Poppy images the other day as part of The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge and so  I grabbed the image where I used the brighter greens and went to work on my card. I embossed some white card stock and then for the 2 strips I used some paper I had in my stash. I had printed the sentiment out when I printed the image so I cut that out to fit my card and then I popped up the image with dimensionals.

I'm also entering this in the Power Poppy Creative Confetti Take 10 Challenge, as this card was super quick to put together once I had the idea in my head!

Worth Melting For

This week The Paper Players have a theme challenge and it's all about love. My 25th wedding anniversary is Tues Feb.5th so it's an easy theme for me this week!

My card is definitely not your traditional love card! My husband (yes, my husband) is a HUGE fan of the Frozen movie and has a huge collection of Frozen stuff in his man cave. Our 2 mini dachshunds are named Elsa and Anna, I mean c'mon now LOL When I saw that Isabel Cristina recently added the digital set "Winter Princess" to her Etsy shop I just had to get the set so I could make cards for hubby and our anniversary was the perfect opportunity.

I used the sketch from last weeks Paper Players challenge for my card. My paper is from a Frozen Paper Stack I got at Walmart, I think. I die cut a circle from Marina Mist and then embossed that with a snowflake pattern. I colored Olaf and Elsa with my copics and added Wink of Stella all over both images. I also used my silver gel pen to add some sparkle to Elsa's dress. I printed out one of the sentiments from the digital set, adhered that across the circle and then popped up the images with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cheer

Today's card was made for 2 challenges....Jingle Belles is to use something new we got for Christmas and The Paper Players has this great sketch.

Other than copics to finish off my collection Santa didn't bring me anything specifically stamping related so for my card I used this new Christmas set from MFT that I bought before Christmas with intentions to make cards for it and well, after the earthquake I didn't get much stamping done so this is the first time it's seen ink.

For the sketch I added a Santa and a reindeer to the circle portion and then heat embossed the sentiment on a banner just below the 2 images.

Thanks for stopping by!

Winter is Coming

This week at The Paper Players they have a Clean and Simple challenge with a theme of "snowy day". I am a winter girl through and through, the more snow I have and the colder it is  the happier I am so I definitely had to play along!

I knew right away that I wanted to use a digital stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil called Winter is Coming. This image cracks me up because its someone shoveling with just their hat and the shovel peeking up over the snow. I've had many a winter like that here in Alaska (although this winter we've barely had snow, boo!!) and shoveling snow is one of my very favorite things to do, I find it very peaceful and relaxing.

I used my cool gray copics to color along the snow line and added a pop of color to match the sentiment, with a bit of yellow added for the shovel. To finish it off I used a SU embossing folder to add some falling snow.

I'm So Happy I Found You

This week at The Paper Players they have a color challenge and so I decided to make a Valentines Day card, I like how they aren't traditional colors one would grab for a love card.

The image I used is from the Power Poppy digital set Va-Va-Valentines. I used the Pool Party and Grapefruit Grove to color in the socks with just a hint of the Daffodil Delight thrown in. As I was grabbing DSP to assemble the card I decided I wanted more of the Daffodil Delight on the card and I happened to have this circle already cut and in my stash, perfect for backing the circle the image is on! For the color of my choice I just brought in a small touch of brown on the clothespins holding up the socks.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Va-Va-Valentines (Power Poppy digital set)
Paper: Grapefruit Grove DSP (SU), Pool Party DSP (SU), Daffodil Delight (SU), Neenah Solar White
Ink: Printer Ink, Grapefruit Grove, Pool Party
Copics: YR000, YR01, YR02

Make the Moose out of Life

This week The Paper Players has a theme challenge and it is to use any type of animal on your project. I knew right away what I wanted to use....duh, a moose of course! I recently got a fabulous moose set from Newton's Nook so it was the perfect excuse to ink it up again! I got to see a moose last night after work, I was coming off of school grounds and she was on the side of the road, munching away on trees(if you follow me on Instagram I posted a video of her in my story)!

This set comes with 2 moose snowboarding. Both moose have antlers but I wanted to have a girl moose on my card so I stamped the image on my Neenah Solar White and then used my Scan N Cut to cut right along the image outline instead of leaving a white outline. This way I can cut off the antlers to make a female moose and it doesn't look funny!

I wanted bright colors since when you're snowboarding it's easy to blend in with the snow. I used Crushed Curry from SU with copics that matched to color in the outfit. To balance it out I went with Basic Gray and just a touch of Marina Mist.

My layout is from last weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches (except I added the circle sentiment).

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace for LMMS

It's time for a new challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog and this week I'm using the Moose Love digital stamp for my card. I really love the various moose images that Little Miss Muffet Stamps offers and this one with a mama and baby is too sweet.

I used the current sketch from The Paper Players for my card along with some retired DSP from SU that has just the right outdoor feel I needed to go along with my image.

Make sure you head on over to the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

To My Sweet Friend

I colored up this image last week for the Jingle Belles food or drink challenge and got busy and set it aside. Then the sketch for the new Paper Players challenge came across my feed and I knew it would be perfect for my image!

For the Jingles Belles challenge I used this fun gingerbread set from Power Poppy called Frosted Gingerbread. I used my copics to color in the image and although it doesn't show up I used some Wink of Stella in the frosting and snow areas.

For the sketch I used some retired SU DSP for my background paper.

Love You to the Core

The current challenge over at The Paper Players blog is all about apples and it's perfect because I've had this Pure Innocence image sitting on my craft desk for a few weeks now. I had colored it and then just kind of pushed it to the side, so the apple challenge was the perfect motivation I needed to get it made into a card!

I used yellow and green for the colors of the girls clothing so I grabbed some of my favorite retired SU DSP that I've been hoarding. I love polka dots and I love these colors together so I created a very simple background with this DSP on my red card base. I added the sentiment to the inside of the card and pulled it all together by putting a strip of the Old Olive polka dot paper across the inside of the card.

Hello, My Pretty

I've been wanting to play along with the sketch over at The Paper Players so today I made time to be in my craft room and get a card done. And then I stood in my craft room, just staring at my desk, watching the leaves fall out the window, I played with the puppies when they came in to see me....I had zero creative mojo happening LOL I finally decided to go take my shower and get dinner going and then I popped back into the craft room and ding ding! the light bulb finally went off!

I colored up a few of these PI witch images a few weeks ago and they've just been sitting in a pile on my desk. I grabbed one and then took some patterned paper from a recent pad I got at JoAnn's and started to put it all together. Die-Namics Set 18 from MFT made it easy for me to follow the sketch, and I used a stitched circle die from them to do the circle portion of the sketch. I popped up the little witch with dimensionals, stamped out my sentiment and called it good to go :)

Fall Haul for Paper Players

When I saw the current Paper Players challenge get posted I knew I wanted to play along but then the week started and I totally spaced it. Thankfully I saw the reminder on my blog list last night and I printed out the digital image from Power Poppy that I wanted to use so I could color it up at work and have it ready to go today.

I'm using the image Fall Haul from Power Poppy, I just love this digital stamp and it's perfect for the fruit and vegetables theme! Did you know that moose love to eat pumpkin? It's true! A few years ago I got a picture of a young moose down on it's front knees eating the Halloween pumpkins my neighbors had discarded in their backyard. In Oct social media in Alaska is usually full of photos of moose eating pumpkins off porches LOL

Truck Harvest for LMMS

Sorry for the late post. We had our internet upgraded yesterday and then the net went out last night and we just got it back a little bit ago. Story of my life LOL

It's time for a new challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog and this week I'm using another of the new Pick Me Up Truck images, the Harvest one. I've already got fall on the brain so I pulled out some retired SU DSP to use and that's where I pulled my colors from.

The Paper Players has a great sketch this week and that's what I used for my layout.

Head on over to the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Acorn Ornaments Christmas

For this card I'm playing along with the Power Poppy Hues to Use from last week. I love these colors, nice and dark and masculine, but I was stumped on how to use them. I kept scrolling through my Power Poppy digital stamps and pulling out my clear stamps but nothing jumped out at me. It wasn't until I was at the movie theater watching Infinity War and a character said a line that got me thinking and boom, I went home and printed off the Acorn Ornaments digital stamp. Inspiration comes from the funniest places sometimes!

I tried to get the 2 different blues on the acorns but they ended up looking pretty similar so I tried to bring in the lighter blue by using some retired Not Quite Navy DSP from SU. The other papers I used are Baked Brown Sugar, also retired, and soon-to-be retired Night of Navy (I'm crying over this, I love that blue!). I used a silver gel pen on the hooks and ribbon to bring a little sparkle to the image.

My layout is from the sketch posted last week at The Paper Players. Since I had die cut the acorns in a circle it was perfect to use. The sentiment is from the clear set Rustic Rejoicing.
