Let It Snow

I've been wanting to play along with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge all week and finally got a chance to give it a go this evening. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

I haven't had much time to create these last few months so I've had a lot of previously colored images piling up on my desk. Today I grabbed a Mo's Digital Pencil image that I had colored in the last 30 Day Coloring Challenge and decided it was time to make a card with it.

After going through my paper I decided to use some Granny Apple Green from SU as my background paper. I embossed it with snowflakes and then I used a MFT die to cut out a piece of Flirty Flamingo DSP. I then added my image panel on top of that, stamped my sentiment and then secured it all to a Flirty Flamingo base. They are definitely not Christmas/winter colors that I would normally use but I really liked how it all came together to match the colors I had used on the image.

Thanks for stopping by!

Snowman Love

This week over at the Jingle Belles blog they are celebrating anything to do with snow. We're having a heatwave here in southcentral Alaska and I'm definitely dreaming of snow and cooler weather!

For my card I went with a snowman image from Power Poppy, I just love this fellow! I colored him up with copics, used a circle die to cut him out and then adhered him to some layers of retired SU DSP.

Advice from a Snowman

Over at the Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge they have a color challenge right now. We are to use the colors sky blue, red, black and white.

For my card I used their fun set Snowman Advice and I alternated the blue and red on the sentiment. The red and blue was also brought in on the patterned paper and the snowmen. The black is very subtle as it's the snowmen outline and the buttons on their bodies. The white is the main image panel and the snowmen.

Thanks for stopping by!

Snowman Love

This year I'd like to make more time for the various challenge blogs I follow so I'm starting off 2019 by playing along with a blog that I follow but that I don't think I have ever actually entered a challenge at, the Inspired By Challenge. The current challenge is to be inspired by a snowman and so I pulled out this older snowman stamp from MFT. It's perfect because it's a winter stamp but with the heart he's holding it's also a great image to use for Valentines Day!

From the challenge image I was inspired by the snowman himself and his striped scarf. The inspiration snowman has just a hint of his scarf showing as does the snowman on my card.

My layout is from Freshly Made Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Heart

It's time for a new challenge over at The Merry Christmas Challenge blog and as always it's an Anything Goes theme, with this week having the optional theme of "inspired by the Grinch movie".

I didn't really have anything in my stash that was directly related to the Grinch movie so I decided to think outside of the box. One of the most famous lines from the movies comes towards the end...."Well, in Whoville they say - that the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day. And then - the true meaning of Christmas came through, and the Grinch found the strength of *ten* Grinches, plus two". In the spirit of that quote I decided to focus on the heart and pulled out this older snowman set from MFT. The heart is nice and big, just like how the Grinch's heart ended up that day!

Make sure and head on over to The Merry Christmas Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you create!

Snowmen Fun

It's time for a new challenge over at The Merry Christmas challenge blog and as always it's Anything Goes, with an optional theme. This week the option is snowmen so I pulled out this fun stamp from Mama Elephant! Who doesn't love a big group of snowmen! It's perfect for me right now as we have gotten a bunch of snow lately and the only thing missing from my yard is a snowman! Sadly our snow is very dry so we can't make a snowman with it, but I can get my fix through card making :)

Make sure you head on over to The Merry Christmas blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

A June Snowman

Hello there! It's been a bit since I posted but I finally made time to sit down today and get some creative work done. I played along with 2 of my favorite challenges, Freshly Made Sketches and Jingle Belles!

Jingle Belles wants to see snowmen on our cards, and FMS has a nice simple sketch with a few layers that seem scary but really aren't! I used some retired Christmas DSP from SU for my panels, with a fun snowman from MFT as my focal point. I adore snowman and cannot wait for winter (and Christmas!). I kept the card pretty simple, as I didn't want to try and compete with the bold Christmas papers. The snowman and sentiment are both popped up with dimensionals.

As we go through the day learning about the tragedy in Orlando please cherish every moment you have, whether it's spent crafting, hanging out with your family or doing anything else that you love. You never know when you might not get another day.

Layers for Jingle Belles

Monday is here but I feel like I could use another weekend to recover from this past weekend! We took the new car for a drive to Anchorage and we bought a new living room set. Between crafts, a new car and furniture I think I've spent enough for the rest of the year. I'm avoiding shopping for a while LOL

The new addition to the family aka the girl my husband now loves best LOL

One thing I won't avoid is the Jingle Belles blog! The current challenge is all about layers....they want us to create a project with at least 3 layers. Mine are subtle but I hope it counts.....my first layer is the card base, the 2nd layer is the decorative DSP, the Santa is a 3rd layer and the 4th layer is the banner with the sentiment. I know the 3rd and 4th items are small so hopefully they still count!

There is still time to play along so head over to the Jingle Belles blog and check it out!

Toasty Greetings

Just a quick post.....

It's that time of year when finding time to stamp is hard but I needed to make some last minute cards for a military wives Christmas card swap so I sat down and had some fun with some MFT Stamps.

How cute are these guys from the Toasty Greetings set? I can't believe this is the first time I've inked up the set since getting it in November! The stitched horizontal cover up die makes it so easy to create a fun and fast background, I love it!

Snowman fun for Jingle Belles

Have you ever gotten an idea in your head for a card, go to start putting it together and it's coming together nice and quick and then boom, distraction hits? That's what happened to me with this card. As soon as I saw the sketch at Jingle Belles I knew exactly what I wanted to do, sat down this past Thurs to create and then before I knew it Facebook, my kids, dinner, work etc all distracted me. So here it is now on Sunday and I FINALLY got my card done and photographed!

We got 6" of new snow last week, which was awesome, we desperately need it here in southcentral Alaska and so I was in a snowman mood. I grabbed this tall snowman from the Snow Much Fun set, he is perfect for the long panel in the sketch. The paper I used is some older SU DSP called Ski Slope. It was in the 2008-2009 Christmas mini (when I say I hoard Christmas paper I'm not kidding!). I just love this paper and this card used up my last big pieces of it, *tears*.

The DSP is mounted on Chocolate Chip card stock and I lightly sponged the image panel with Chocolate Chip. I colored the snowman with colors from the paper...Real Red, Old Olive, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, plus some Tangerine Tango for his nose and Basic Black for the hat and boots.

There are still  few days to play along with their sketch, hop over to the Jingle Belles blog and check it out!

Happy Snowman for Merry Monday

Today's Merry Monday challenge was perfect for me. It's all about snowmen, and today we had our first snowfall of the season! It stuck to the ground for a little bit, and Anchorage got more than we did at my house but that's ok because I LOVE SNOW and seeing it fall today made my soul sing! I cannot wait for our first big snowfall!

Anyway, I was just telling Lesley last night how I haven't had time to play along for a few weeks but I actually got some time today thanks to a change in my oldest sons schedule, woohooo!

I was initially going to use the adorable snowmen from the Frosty Friends set but I switched to this cute pudgy snowman from the set Snow Much Fun in order to get the image in a circle. I used the Winter Frost Specialty DSP from the holiday catalog. I just love the colors in these papers! I used Whisper White and Pool Party for my card, and sponged the edges of the DSP and Pool Party card stock with Pool Party ink. Both the inside and outside sentiment were also stamped in Pool Party. For an extra touch(and because my daughter tells me glitter belongs on everything) I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the snowman.

It was pointed out to me in the comments that my layout looks just like the current Paper Players Sketch....um, thats because when making this card I played along with the Paper Players but I forgot to include that when I posted this yesterday! Thats what I get for trying to rush through a post before going to work.

The layout is from the great sketch currently over at The Paper Players. Such a great sketch, I know I will be using this one over and over!

Thanks for stopping by!

After picking my son up from work in Wasilla I went by a local trail to enjoy the snow. Here my son is sitting in the truck while I was having fun. He wasn't as thrilled with the snow as I was :)
So pretty!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Snow Much Fun, More Merry Messages(inside sentiment)
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Winter Frost DSP

Tic Tac Toe for Jingle Belles

This week Stef and Lauren over at the Jingle Belles blog have a tic tac toe challenge for us! I love these type of challenges, I think they are so much fun to work with.

I knew as soon as I looked at the rows which one I wanted. I went diagonally and chose "snowmen" "red or green" and "stamped. Perfect set up for me!

I used my Frosty Friends stamp, these snowmen are just too cute! I also used some of my favorite retired DSP, Frostwood Lodge. I love the rustic, earthy feel of this paper and it goes wonderfully with this stamp.

I included red and green on this card but the red is definitely in the majority. I used Cherry Cobbler bakers twine above the sentiment and also embossed the white panel with the Square Lattice EF. Although its hard to tell in the picture the main image panel is popped up with dimensionals, so its not sitting right on the embossed panel.

I used last weeks Merry Monday sketch, as I didn't find time to play along with their challenge last week.

(sorry for the poor card photo. It's overcast and raining and I'm in a hurry to get dinner made and get ready for work, so I didnt take as much time with my photo as I normally do. I'll try and get a better photo tomorrow!)

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Frosty Friends, Greetings of the Season, Christmas Messages(inside sentiment, not shown)
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Frostwood Lodge DSP
Ink: Black StazOn, Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Garden Green, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Copic BG10, dimensionals

Bright Christmas Snowman

Today's card revisits the current challenge over at the Jingle Belles blog, and it also plays along with the current sketch over at Merry Monday!

The theme for Jingle Belles is 'Merry and Bright' and with my card yesterday I just felt that I fell a little flat with the "bright" portion of the theme. Sure, the colors were something I don't normally use and were bright to me but I knew I could do something a little brighter so that is how today's card came about! Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise definitely make a bright combo and I feel much better about this card meeting the challenge theme!

I stayed true to the sketch, keeping all the elements Lesley has on it. The circle with the snowman is popped up with dimensionals. I did put glitter on the snowball and snowman after I took the picture though. I had meant to do it before snapping the photo but got sidetracked with making dinner and thought about it after I had the photos loaded already, ooops!

Inspiration photo from Jingle Belles:

Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Polka Dot Parade DSP

More Snowmen for Merry Monday

I couldn't help myself, I had to play along again over at Merry Monday. I told you I love snowmen :) We're even going to get 'snowman snow' tonight and tomorrow.....that means our temps are going to be around freezing or slightly above, so the snow that is going to fall will be wet snow, perfect for a snowman. As I mentioned in a previous post our snow is usually very dry because its normally pretty cold when our snow falls, so that means very little moisture in the snow.

Thanks for coming by and I hope you have had a great Thursday so far!

Looking down my driveway it doesn't seem like spring, and more snow is on the way!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Flaky Friends (retired)
Paper: Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Holiday Lounge DSP (retired)
Ink: Black StazOn, Taken With Teal (retired), various SU markers
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Nestabilities Circles, Silver Stretch cord,   1 3/4" circle punch, sponge, dimensionals

Snowman Sketch

Today's card features 2 challenges....the current sketch from Sunday Stamps and this weeks Merry Monday, which is a snowman theme.

I love snowmen but usually the snow here in southcentral Alaska is too dry for snowmen, so I have to get my fix through movies(Jack Frost, love that snowman movie!) and stamps, such as this one. I used an older retired SU set called It's Snow Time. I've always liked this sweet image of a snowball being given as a gift!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: It's Snow Time
Paper: Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints DSP
Ink: Black StazOn, Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Cherry Cobbler, Versamark
Accessories: Scalloped Edge Border Punch, Bashful Blue Ribbon, dimensionals, sponge

Merry Monday, Current and Catch-Up

Last week was a bad week around my house...we lost our sweet cat Nimitz, who we had for 16 yrs, work was insane and Mother Nature was driving me crazy so I didn't do much stamping, I just wasn't in the creative mood. I did want to play along with last weeks Merry Monday challenge and started it on Saturday but didn't get it done in time to link up so that's the first card I'm posting. I haven't missed a Merry Monday challenge yet this yr and didn't want to start!

It was a color challenge and we were to use the colors Pumpkin Pie, Marina Mist and Basic Gray. The Pumpkin Pie is layered under the main image panel, plus was also used for the snowman's nose. Basic Gray was used on the snowman's hat and for the panel under the Pumpkin Pie layer. Marina Mist is obviously the main card stock and I paper pieced Marina Mist DSP for the letters in the image. The main image panel is popped up with dimensionals.

Snowflakes from Wonderful Winterland were used on the background and I dotted Dazzling Details on those. I also used Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details on the snowman's hat.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Big On Christmas, Wonderful Winterland
Paper: Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Gray, Naturals White, Marina Mist DSP
Ink: Black StazOn, Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist
Accessories: Dazzling Details, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, sponge, dimensionals

For this weeks current challenge its a sketch challenge. I'm not big fan of square cards since most of my cards get mailed to the lower 48, so I switched to a regular A2 size but other than that the sketch is all intact!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Welcome Christmas, Teeny Tiny Wishes, More Merry Messages(inside sentiment)
Paper: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Island Indigo, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints DSP
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Big Shot, Snow Burst EF, Framelits Labels, Early Espresso Bakers Twine, sponge, dimensionals

Patriotic Snowman Love

My favorite Christmas challenge blog is back with new challenges, wooohooo! Jingle Belles, how I have missed you these last few weeks and they have started things off with a great challenge.....use new craft goodies on your Christmas card, anything that Santa, or anyone else, gave you for Christmas.

I used a new stamp that I bought myself right before Christmas. I went to a stamp store in a town nearby and being a military vet I cant resist anything patriotic, and if its winter or Christmas themed I'm in even more trouble! It's from Whipper Snapper stamps and is called "Americana Snowman".

My inspiration for the layout came from Try Stampin' On Tuesday. I've never played along with this blog before but I saw a few friends post about it and thought I'd give it a try!

Happy Snowmen

I've got another busy week ahead so I tried to squeeze in a few challenges today. For this card I played along with The Paper Players, Dynamic Duos and Jingle Belles.

The Paper Players have a theme challenge going on, and its snowmen. I love snowmen and I am hoping that making snowmen cards right now will help Mother Nature actually bring snow to my area! It's Dec.2nd...in southcentral Alaska....and we're under a red flag(fire) warning! We've had more grass fires the last 4 days then we had all summer, its pretty scary. So here you go Mother Nature, how can you resist these happy snowmen? I know I sure cant!

The colors come from the Dynamic Duos, which is to use Certainly Celery and Real Red. In the image I used a very small touch of orange for the noses but other than that the images uses only CC and RR, with a touch of neutral(Crumb Cake). I also added some Dazzling Details to help the scene stand out a little more.

Last but not least....over at the Jingle Belles blog the challenges are done until Jan.1st but they still wan us to link up any Christmas cards or winter cards in the meantime!

(if the sketch looks familiar it was recently a challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches and I just love it, very versatile!)

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Frosty Friends, More Merry Messages
Paper: Certainly Celery, Real Red, Whisper White, Wintergreen DSP (retired)
Ink: Black StazOn, Certainly Celery, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Only Orange (retired)
Accessories: Certainly Celery ribbon, Modern Label Punch, Oval Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, sponge, dimensionals

Mr. Twigster for Dynamic Duos

Happy Monday! Hope the week is starting off well for everyone...so far so good here in southcentral Alaska!.

I saw this weeks challenge over at Dynamic Duos and just had to make time to play along....Marina Mist and Basic Black with an option of making your project snowman themed. Love the colors and I just adore snowmen!!

I've seen projects with these window dies popping up all over the place and I just LOVE the windows so I took a little jaunt over to Ebay and picked myself up both the small and large window die, plus the shutters and flower box, wooohooo! For this card I used the small window die along with the SU Mr.Twigster set. I tried to make it like you were looking out the window and saw Mr.Twigster smiling and peeking in on you (ever see the movie Jack Frost with Michael Keaton? There is a scene like that and that was what I had in my mind while making this).

Thanks for stopping by and to all my crafting friends, I am behind on leaving comments(again) but I plan on going on a commenting spree when I get home from work tonight so beware :0)

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
