Wedding Congratulations

I'm getting ready to head down to Colorado for one of my oldest friends weddings. We've been friends since we were 12 yrs old (and we just turned 40!) and she is getting married for the first time. Its great to see her so happy and she surprised me by asking me to officiate her wedding! Needless to say I've been running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get things done. One of the main things to get done.....a congratulations card for the couple!!

I was sitting on my craft desk, just contemplating what to do and where to start on this card. and that's when the
new challenge for Try Stampin' On Tuesday popped up in my feed. The sketch was perfect for what I wanted to do. You cant ask for better timing than that :)

Obviously because I'm in Alaska and the bridal party is in Colorado I haven't been able to get a look at the wedding colors, so I chose what I felt were the closest based on the descriptions I was given. I went with Rich Razzleberry, Baja Breeze and Whisper White.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm off to do more packing :)

Piecing Together Preserves for Friday Mashup

I'm bringing you this weeks challenge over at The Friday Mashup! It's that time of year to gather food and put it away for the winter. Here in Alaska I've been collecting low bush cranberries, yummy! Are you collecting anything from your neck of the woods? Canning, perhaps making jam? If not that's ok, just do it through paper! Let's see what you can create with a fall harvest theme....pumpkins, apples, berries, jars......anything that says fall harvest. Add some paper piecing to your project and you've got the Friday Mashup for this week!

I used the set Perfectly Preserved, and for my paper piecing I pieced the cover of the jar. I initially stamped the cherries from the set in the jar, to make it look like the cranberries I'm picking but I didnt like how it looked so I changed my direction and put this pretty pear in the jar instead!

  1. Create a project with a "Fall/Harvest Food Theme (Preserves, Apples, Pumpkins etc.)."
  2. Create a project using "Paper Piecing."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Fall Food themed project with some Paper Piecing "
I'm also playing along with the current challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday, thats where this great sketch came from!

Patriotic Snowman Love

My favorite Christmas challenge blog is back with new challenges, wooohooo! Jingle Belles, how I have missed you these last few weeks and they have started things off with a great challenge.....use new craft goodies on your Christmas card, anything that Santa, or anyone else, gave you for Christmas.

I used a new stamp that I bought myself right before Christmas. I went to a stamp store in a town nearby and being a military vet I cant resist anything patriotic, and if its winter or Christmas themed I'm in even more trouble! It's from Whipper Snapper stamps and is called "Americana Snowman".

My inspiration for the layout came from Try Stampin' On Tuesday. I've never played along with this blog before but I saw a few friends post about it and thought I'd give it a try!
