Anniversary Card for Sunday Stamps

I've had a lot going on, which means zero stamping time, so I was happy  to finally squeeze in a moment today to make an anniversary card for a friend.

I always love a good sketch to get me going in the right direction and as soon as I saw the sketch over at Sunday Stamps I knew I wanted to give it a try.

Nice and simple card, I think the papers and colors do all the talking!

Winter colors for Tis The Season

Time for a new challenge at 'Tis The Season and this week we have a color challenge for you!

When I saw these colors I definitely thought winter....Pool Party evokes images of a snowy sky, Baked Brown Sugar makes me think of cookies and of course snow for Whisper White!

For my card I used Baked Brown Sugar and Pool Party DSP to create my main panel. I divided the 2 papers with ruffled Baked Brown Sugar Ribbon. Ribbon is our optional trimming this week so that worked out perfectly! I stamped my image in Black StazOn and cut it out with the Window Frame Framelits, and also cut another layer in Baked Brown Sugar and paper pierced around it. On my image I did the scattered embossing technique to give the look of snow falling around the little girl and the rabbit. For my sentiment I was going to use 'Merry Christmas' but I thought the 'Peace on Earth' went wonderfully with this image!

I hope you'll come by 'Tis The Season and give us a try! The challenge is open for 2 weeks.

Sketchy (missing) Ombre for Friday Mashup

It's Friday again! It's going to be a stressful day for me as I am supposed to have something very important happen tomorrow, that's been a long time in the making. Its not crafted related but it will have a huge impact on my families life so keep your fingers crossed!

Today Lynda is our hostess at The Friday Mashup and she has a fun sketch challenge for us, plus she would like to see the ombre technique. Now, I did attempt the technique but no matter what I tried I couldn't get it to look good with the card I had already come up with so I just skipped the mashup. Sorry Lynda!!

My friend ordered some cards from me, one of them a Mother's Day card for an "artsy" mom, so this is what I come up with. Thankfully she loved it!

I hope you'll head over to The Friday Mashup to see what the rest of the design team came up with, and then play along with us!

  1. Create a project using the "Sketch".
  2. Create a project with the "Ombre' Background Technique".
  3. Or Mash it up and create a project an "Ombre' Background & The Sketch

Getting into shape for Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Avery is our hostess and she wants us to get in shape....wait, what? Hahaha, I mean she wants us to make a shaped card! She also wants us to use to the color combo she provided.

I wont lie, the shaped card thing totally threw me and I have been fussing with stuff all week. Thursday I finally pulled out the Heart Framelits (because my daughter suggested using a heart) and went to work. I grabbed the Happy Watercolor set and let's just say that I had about 3 hearts cut out in Whisper White before I finally settled on the final product. I can neither confirm nor deny that some cussing went on during this time period :)

Avery mentioned that these colors are great for Easter projects but I don't celebrate Easter, so I just tried to go for a nice spring feel to the card. The flowers were fussy cut and popped up with dimenionals on the embossed heart.

I don't know if I'm thrilled with how it all turned out but I guess in crafting sometimes you win , sometimes you lose. I tried though!

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup to check out all the great projects from the rest of the design team(they are 100x better than mine, hahaha!) and then play along with us!

  1. Create a project using the Colors " Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder & Wild Wasabi".
  2. Create a " Shaped card".

Window Inspiration for 'Tis The Season

It's time for another challenge at 'Tis The Season and this week we have a great inspiration photo. I just love this photo! It really reminds me of growing up in New England and all the beautiful wreaths and such you would find on windows at Christmas. I've lived all over the US and I've never seen a region decorate  windows at Christmas like New England does.

Since an image of a wreath is the first thing that popped to mind when I saw this photo that's what I decided to do as the focus of my card. I used the Grand Madison Window die from Poppystamps and the wreath is a die/embossing set from Cuttlebug. The background is embossed with the Distressed Stripes folder from Cuttlebug to give it the look of a wood cabin or home.

I hope you'll come by 'Tis The Season and play along with us, we'd love to see your interpretation of this photo!

***We're also giving you the chance to win the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration exclusive set Banner Blast & the coordinating Punch. All you have to do is play along with both April challenges. You must live in the US to be eligible (sorry!). If you follow us  on FB or through Google Friend Connect then you get an additional chance to win.***

Going Vintage for Jingle Belles

For their current challenge the gals at Jingle Belles want us to go vintage. I have to admit, every time I hear "vintage" I panic a bit, as its not a look I feel I can pull off very well. However, I put my head down and went to work in my craft space, determined to get this challenge done!

Well, it took me a few days but I did finish it and I have to say, I am pretty happy with the way it turned out!  People interpret vintage so differently and for me I picture browns and reds and very subdued hues. I pulled out the SU retired stamp Christmas Collage and inked it up with the StazOz Timber Brown on some Crumb Cake. I then used my aquapainter to color in some leaves with Always Artichoke, and some berries with Cherry Cobbler. I then took the sentiment from the retired set Bells and Boughs, stamped it in Always Artichoke on Crumb Cake and then punched it out with the Decorative Label punch and sponged the edges with the StazOn brown. I stamped an image from Bells and Boughs, water colored it and then attached it to the sentiment panel, and popped the whole thing up on the card with dimensional's. Then I stamped the main image on some Crumb Cake again, this time coloring in the '25' with a Cherry Cobbler marker and the surrounding design with Always Artichoke. I punched it out with the 2 1/2" circle punch and popped it up on the panel with some dimensional's. I completed the card by placing some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details on some of the berries.

Make sure you head over to the Jingle Belles blog and play along! It feels great to be so ahead on Christmas cards!

Scattered Spring for Friday Mashup

Thank goodness it's Friday! It's been a busy and long week here and I am ready to unwind for the weekend!

Need some help unwinding? Tara is our hostess this week at
The Friday Mashup and she has a great challenge for us. She wants to see projects with a spring theme, and she'd also like us to try the scattered embossing technique.

I decided to use this great stamp, Vivid Vases. I just love everything about this stamp! The colors are pulled from the Gingham Garden DSP.

For the embossing I took the Square Lattice EF and put my card base in there. I then used the stylus from the scoring board to highlight the spots where I wanted embossing on my card. In the video that Tara provided the gal uses vellum for the technique but I wasn't keen on that, so hopefully I got the technique right by doing it the way I did. Either way its something I haven't tried before, so I can knock it off the list!

I hope you'll head over to
The Friday Mashup to see what the rest of the DT did, these ladies blow me away every week!

  1. Create a project using the "Scattered Embossing Technique".
  2. Create a project with "Spring Colors or a Theme".
