Seasons Greetings

Our best friends were up visiting all last week from Florida, flying home Sat night,  so I didn't do any crafting during that time. I wanted to play along with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge though so I waited until hubby went to bed tonight and I headed into the craft room to see what I could come up with me.

I decided to make a Christmas card featuring dies and a stamp set I recently got from the SU Holiday Catalog. I think the dies are so pretty and really wanted to put them to use.

I stamped one of the sentiments from the So Many Stars Set in Pretty Peacock on some Very Vanilla paper and then I used the Stitched Stars dies and cut some of them out in Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy and Pretty Peacock. I arranged all of the elements on a piece of paper from the Brightly Gleaming DSP pack. I LOVE the colors in this pack. My favorite colors are blue and green so of course I gravitate to this DSP!

The 2 smaller Pretty Peacock star dies are popped up with dimensionals, as is the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: So Many Stars (SU)
Paper: Night of Navy, Pretty Peacock, Mossy Meadow, Very Vanilla, Brightly Gleaming DSP (all SU)
Ink: Pretty Peacock, Mossy Meadow (both SU)
Accessories: Stitched Stars Dies (SU), Dimensionals

Be A Star for LMMS

Happy Thursday! New images are being released over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps today and they are super cute! Go HERE to see the new images.

My card today showcases one of the new images, Polka Dot Pals Vega. How sweet is she? I just love the star in her hand and the stars on her dress. She is so versatile and can be used for any occasion! I decided to use her on an encouragement card and used 2 of my favorite colors on the card, blue and yellow. I also pushed myself to get out of my comfort zone and try something different with the skin and hair, so I made my Vega an African-American girl!

Make sure you head on over to the LMMS store to check out all the great new images from today and the last few weeks and don't forget, the Anything Goes challenge is still open on the blog, so play along!

You're the Best for Friday Mashup

It's my turn to host the challenge at Friday Mashup and I've got some nature inspired colors....Cajun Craze, Garden Green and Island Indigo (you don't have to use SU colors, use any brand that is close to these shades). I'm also going for a Father's Day theme since Father's Day is next weekend.

I had every intention of doing an outdoor scene with these colors but somehow I gravitated to the set Be the Star instead. I'm not quite sure how that happened but I went with it LOL

I stamped 2 stars from the set, the biggest star in Island Indigo and then the medium size one in Garden Green. I then used the Star Framelits to cut stars out in each of the colors.

The card base is Island Indigo and I embossed a panel of Whisper White with the retired Houndstooth TIEF and adhered my stars to that, popping up the large Island Indigo star over the smaller ones. To finish off the card I took a sentiment from the retired set Best Dad Ever and stamped that in Cajun Craze at the bottom of the card.

Head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then I hope you'll play along with us!

  • Create a project with the colors "Cajun Craze, Island Indigo and Garden Green"
  • Create a project with a "Father's Day Theme"
  • or Mash it Up! and Create a project with "The challenge colors and a Father's Day theme"

Seeing Stars for TTS34

It's time for another challenge at 'Tis The Season and this week we have a great sketch for everyone. You don't have to use stars in your sketch, but we do need to see the basic sketch on your project.

I went with stars and used the Bright & Beautiful set. I stamped 1 big star and 2 smaller ones in Night of Navy, and then I used my star framelits to cut 2 stars out of silver glimmer paper. All of the Night of Navy stars are popped up with dimensionals.

To get a little more detail I embossed the Whisper White background with the Decorative Dots folder and used some retired silver ribbon to separate  the top panel from the area with the sentiment.

I hope you'll come by the 'Tis The Season blog and play along with us!

To The Stars with TTS

I'm a few days late with my card for 'Tis The Season. My oldest has been having some medical issues and then hubby and I went away for the weekend to celebrate my 41st birthday so here I am on Monday, getting my card up :)

This week at 'Tis The Season we have a great sketch for you. You can see I took the circles in the sketch and changed them to stars. I recently got the Bright and Beautiful set from the Christmas catalog and thought this was the perfect sketch to break it out for the first time.

I embossed a panel of Whisper White with the On Point TIEF and adhered that to a card base of Smoky Slate. The big star was stamped in Lost Lagoon, the 2 smaller ones in Smoky Slate and the other big one in Silver Glimmer Paper. For my strip across the middle I used some Silver Stretch cord. For a little extra bling I added some rhinestones to finish it off. The sentiment was stamped in Lost Lagoon and is from More Merry Messages.

I hope you'll come by 'Tis The Season and play along with us!

Stamps: Bright and Beautiful, More Merry Messages
Paper: Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate

Stars and Thank You's for Friday Mashup

It's my turn to host The Friday Mashup and this week I'm all about stars and thank you cards. I went easy with my card and totally CASE'd an example from the SU catty, from page 19. I changed up the sentiment and colors a bit, added the stars in the background and instead of stitching I did faux stitching with paper piercing and a white gel pen. It's a nice easy way to bust out a set of cards, especially when you're short on time, like I happen to be the last 2 weeks!

  1. Create a project with "Stars."
  2. Create a set of "Thank you Cards with Matching Envelopes"
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a set of "Thank you Cards & Envelopes using Stars."

Quilted Sketch for TTS5

Happy Thanksgiving to all the US stampers! I hope you have a wonderful day full of great food, love and laughter!Today we've got another challenge for 'Tis The Season and its a sketch with the option of using stars on your project.

I decided to take the pieces on the sketch and put them together like you might see on a quilt. I sponged all the edges of the Winter Frost DSP that I used with Pool Party, used a white gel pen to add some faux stitching and then I ran the piece through the Big Shot with the Square Latice EF.

I used the single stamp 'Christmas Star' and scored it so it would pop up a little bit. It's the first time I've inked up this stamp and I really like it!

I hope you'll come over and
join us at 'Tis The Season! Our challenges run for 2 weeks so there is plenty of time to join in :)
