Glad We're Friends

It's time for a new Anything Goes challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog, plus there are some new images in the shop today! For my card today I'm using one of the new images, Polka Dot Pals Gada.

This is such a sweet image of a little girl creating a chain of flowers, perfect for a summer birthday or just to say hi. I went with one of my favorite color schemes, yellow and blue. Definitely good summer colors! I decided to cut the image out and just place it against a background, and I really like this yellow patterned paper I had in my stash. It was perfect to help highlight this image!

Make sure you head on over to the LMMS blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us!

Coneflower Hues

There is a new Hues to Use post up on the Power Poppy blog and so I decided to play along with it, surprisingly since purple is one of the main colors. We all know how much I love purple....not LOL However, I do love some alliums, which are the big flowers in the picture. I used to grow them when we lived in CT but have never tried them here in Alaska. They sure are pretty though!

Now, because I'm not a fan of purple I don't have many purple copic markers. Therefore while my coneflowers should be lighter at the end of the petal they are a tad darker because I don't have any light purple shades. I guess I'm going to have to breakdown and get some as a "just in case" type of thing. For the gray I used N2 to do some shading around the flowers and then I also used some gray DSP.

Thanks for stopping by!

Glad We're Friends

This week at Sunday Stamps we have a fun sketch to play along with! I used a mix of new and old products to bring my card to life.

The bunny and bear are from an adorable set from MFT called Snuggle Bunnies. I used copic markers to color in the bunny's shirt to match the DSP. The bunny and bear are both popped up with dimensionals, as is the sentiment panel. You'll notice that my sentiment panel is going in the same direction as the tag....I tried to do it like the sketch, straight across, and I just couldn't, it bugged the heck out of me LOL That's the great thing about challenges, it's all about interpreting it the way YOU see it.

We hope you'll come over to the Sunday Stamps blog and see what the rest of the DT came up with, and then play along with us!

Super Friend

I colored this image from My Favorite Things a few weeks ago as part of the Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge and it had been sitting on my desk just waiting to be used somehow. I saw the recent Freshly Made Sketch and decided to make the image work for this sketch.

Instead of a tree image I stamped the city skyline in black and then using a mask I made with a 2 1/2" circle punch I used copics to color in a large setting sun and then popped up the super girl to the right of the skyline. I then stamped the sentiment underneath the skyline image. I wanted the images in the middle of the card to be the main focus so I left the rest of the panel blank for a CAS look.

Coffee and Friends for Paper Players

I had some time today to play along with a challenge so I chose to join the current Paper Players challenge, which happens to be a sketch.

I decided to use the Perfect Blend set. I don't drink coffee myself but just about everyone else I know does! I've barely touched these stamps since getting so it was about time I took them out to play with!

I used the paper from the Retro Fresh DSP and pulled my colors from that. The card base is Baked Brown Sugar and then I made another layers using some of the DSP. I stamped the coffee cup in Baked Brown Sugar on some Naturals White and then once again used the DSP to created the band around the cup. Baked Brown Sugar embossed in the Square Lattice was used to create one of the circles, DSP was used for another 2 and then the sentiment was stamped in Tangerine Tango on Naturals White and punched out.

I'm not crazy about the way it photographed but the card is super cute in person!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Perfect Blend
Paper: Baked Brown Sugar, Naturals White, Retro Fresh DSP
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Nestabilities Standard Circles, Baked Brown Sugar Ribbon

Freshly Made Coffee and Friends

My daughter works at an espresso stand and the other night went in with a coworker and decorated it for their boss, plus left gifts. They wanted a card so it gave me a great excuse to play along with this weeks Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

My daughter wanted the card to have black, white and pink. I substituted vanilla for the white and used retired Pretty in Pink. She also wanted glitter on the card so I used some retired chunky glitter on the coffee cup. The cup is heat embossed with black, and I stamped and embossed the sentiment on another paper and cut it out, then used dimensional to pop it up on the cup. I also turned the sketch around but all the elements are still there :)

I don't drink coffee but just about everyone I know does, so that's why I ended up buying this stamp set. I knew it would come in handy!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Perfect Blend
Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP
Ink: Versamark, Black StazOn
Accessories: Black Embossing Powder, Heat Embossing Tool, Big Shot, Modern Mosaic EF, Framed Tulips EF, Pretty in Pink Ribbon(retired), Chunky Glitter(retired), sponge, dimensionals

Patriotic and Little Girls

This week The Color Throwdown gave us these colors: Navy, White and another color of your choosing. I loved this challenge so much I ended up making 2 cards for it!

My first card used Night of Navy, Whisper White, and Cherry Cobbler. I used the CB folder Distressed Stripes and some Riding Hood Red ribbon to bring it all together. I love this stamp from SU. I'm a Navy vet, my husband is retired Navy, and I love anything patriotic!
Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Land of the Free
Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler
Ink: Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler

My 2nd card incorporates this weeks Clean and Simple challenge from Splitcoast, along with The Color Throwdown. This time I used Night of Navy, Whisper White and Daffodil Delight. How sweet is this image of 2 little girls? Its funny that I like it so much because I am SOOO not a girly-girl, LOL.

Good Friend

This week over at the Friday Mashup blog the challenge is a color challenge and boy, did this one make me pause for a bit.

I didnt have a problem with the Not Quite Navy or the Sahara Sand but that Poppy Parade really threw me for a loop. I'm not a big fan of the color, its a bit too bright for my taste but thats why we do challenges right, to help think outside the box?

I ended up using the set 'Good Friend'. The sentiment really spoke to me because in the yr that my dad fought cancer, and then when we lost him, I truly discovered who my good friends were and who was around for the good and bad.

Supplies Used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Good Friend
Paper: Sahara Sand, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Sahara Sand DSP
Ink: Poppy Parade, Not Quite Navy
Accessories; Brads, dimensionals

HollyBeary Creations-Color Challenge #1

My friend Holly over at HollyBeary Creations(formerly Inka Dinka Doodle) has started another challenge, and this one is a color challenge. Seriously folks, if you havent been to her blog check it out! She is an awesome stamper and I love seeing the stuff she comes up with!

These are the colors to work with( Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, Always Artichoke and Lavendar Lace):

I think these are awesome colors, although the purple scared me! I'm not a purple fan so anytime I have to incorporate that color I get a bit nervous. I think I did ok though. For the purple I used Lovely Lilac ink to stamp the bird on Lavendar Lace paper, and then Lovely Lilac again for the sentiment(I didnt have any Lavendar Lace ink). The cardstock base is Always Artichoke and then I used DSP in Soft Suede for the top layer and a small layer of Dusty Durango across the bottom, along with some Very Vanilla Ribbon.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Season of Friendship
Paper: Always Artichoke, Dusty Durango, Autumn Traditions DSP, Very Vanilla
Ink: Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Lovely Lilac,Always Artichoke
Accessories: Very Vanilla Ribbon, dimensionals
