Sketchy Birthday with Bling

Today was an absolutely miserable day in southcentral Alaska. We're having VERY unusual weather and the temp at my house hit 95 degrees (our normal temp this time of year is 65-70 degrees)....yes, outside temp for Alaska. So I did what any good Alaskan who hates the heat does, I sat in my dark  craft area with the fans going and stamped! :)

Today's card was inspired by the sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps and the bling challenge from The Paper Players. Adding bling is really hard for me, I'm not really a "bling" person, so I hope adding the pearls counts! If not I'll try again :)

The sentiment was cut out and popped up with dimensionals and the main image panel is also popped up with dimensionals. I tried to leave the left hand side of the card blank like in the sketch but I just needed a little something over that way, hence the addition of the butterfly(with more pearls for bling).

Moose and Bling for Jingle Belles

Whew, I finally got a card done for the Jingle Belles challenge. I was so excited to see one of my favorite bloggers, Lisa from Recklinghausen Musings, as the guest star! Lisa creates the most fabulous Christmas creations and is a joy to follow, check out her blog!

The challenge is create a Christmas card that incorporates bling, glitter, glitz, gems, shimmer, or anything sparkly. This made me pause because I am not good at adding any of that stuff, so it took me a while to figure out how I was going to do this.

I ended up going with a Christmas moose I stamp I have and I grabbed some S.E.I. paper that I had in my stash(it's hard to see but the paper has shimmer), adding some SU Cherry Cobbler glitter paper for a final touch. On the stamp the moose has 2 ornaments hanging from its rack...I took 2 glitter brads from SU and used those as ornaments, instead of coloring in the image. I also added SU Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details to the present next to the moose. Hopefully all of this is enough for the bling!

 

Sparkling Ornament for Friday Mashup

I just love the challenge that Amanda is bringing us this week at The Friday Mashup! It's all about ornaments and sparkle!

If you come to my blog regularly you'll know that I love to make Christmas cards....doesn't matter what time of year it is, I love making them. When I saw that Amanda wanted us to make a card with a Christmas ornament I went 'wooohooo'!

Sparkle is the 2nd portion of the challenge and that is usually a little tougher for me but SU's Silver Glimmer Paper made it easy for me to get all the sparkle I needed and more on this card. For a little extra bling I added rhinestones to the ornaments and also to the sentiment banner.

Friday Mashup Wings and Bling

This week at the Friday Mashup blog Kasey is bringing us the challenge and she is all about the wings and the bling, PLUS she has a color challenge in there also. What does all of this mean?

1. Create a project with "Butterflies and Bling".

2. Create a project using "Marina Mist, Perfect Plum and your Choice of ONE other color and ONE Neutral".
3. Or "Mash it Up!" and create a project that using "Butterflies, Bling and the Color Combo"!

I tell ya, Kasey comes up with challenges that definitely make me think! Thats what challenges are all about though right, to get people to think outside their comfort zone?

I MASHED it up this week, including both wings and bling and also doing the color challenge.  I went right off the color coach and added Rose Red as my 3rd color and I went with Whisper White as my neutral.

 I used a Perfect Plum marker to outline and color the branches, and then used stickles on the flowers colored in Marina Mist to help them really stand out.

Mashup Valentine

I had told myself that starting with the new year I would stamp a card a week, get back to challenges and just get myself in gear. Welllll.....its the second week of January and I'm not quite there yet, but I'm trying!

Today I sat down to work on this weeks Friday Mashup Challenge, which is a sketch w/a twist. I love sketches so I was excited to see the challenge. The twist is to add some *bling* to the card, which is always hard for me, as I'm really not big on that sort of thing. Here is the sketch:

And here is my card I came up with.  The hearts were punched out with the Heart to Heart punch and then I used Versamark and heat and stick powder to apply Dazzling Diamonds. The sentiment is popped up with dimensionals.
