Whole Lot of Wonderful

Here in Alaska Denali National Park holds a road lottery every year. For 4 days in Sept. 400 vehicles are allowed to drive into the park, and if the weather allows you can drive the entire 92 miles of the road. This is the only road into the park and during the summer private vehicles are only allowed to drive to mile 15. After that you must take one of the parks buses, ride a bike or hike in. The lottery draws thousands of applicants and its very hard to win a pass. In the years we've been here we have never won the lottery before, which has always bummed us out. We didn't win this year either but a friend of ours did and she is giving her pass to us! We are so excited and thankful for her kindness that I wanted to make sure I gave her a thank you card letting her know how much she means to us. She serves on city council with my husband so he is going to give her the card tonight, otherwise I would have waited until the sun came back out to get a better picture.

Freshly Made Sketches was the perfect jumping point for this card. I skimmed over the sets and finally decided on Vivid Vases. Our friend loves flowers and has a very vibrant personality so I wanted to do something that reflected her personality. I've got WAYYYY too much DSP so I'm trying to use some of the retired stuff...here I grabbed Sycamore Street. I really love the colors and designs in this DSP.

I stamped the 3 middle vases in Black StazOn on Whisper White and then I stamped the images again on various DSP from the pack. I cut it out and paper pieced the bases and then used markers to color in the flowers.

To finish the card I stamped the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry and cut the strip into a banner and popped it up with dimensionals. I then took a Sycamore Street Designer Button and threaded some gold elastic cord through it and attached it to the card. I'm not a big button person but I think it goes nicely with this card.

Thanks for looking and make sure you check out Freshly Made Sketches and play along with them!
