Special Request for Fathers Day

Earlier this week I received an order for 2 Fathers Day cards. The gal wanted one with blue and green and a grilling theme, and then the 2nd card was to be maroon with a train theme.

For the maroon card I used Bravo Burgundy cardstock, DSP and ink in conjunction with the Happiness Is a Journey set. I love this train stamp! To give the background a little more pop I used the Flannel Plaid stamp.

For the grilling card I use the King of the Grill stamp along with Not Quite Navy cardstock and Well Worn DSP. Always Artichoke was used for a touch of green. The gal had seen the "U Rock My World" sentiment on another card I did and specifically requested that sentiment for this card. Happy Fathers Day is stamped on the inside.

Pretty Colors and Paper Piecing for Friday Mashup

Howdy howdy :) Time for another Friday Mashup and this week our challenge is from Tara and its her first challenge with us as a new design team member! Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup blog to play along and welcome Tara to the team!

For her challenge Tara wants us to use the color combo of Pool Party, Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry or do paper piecing on your project OR mash it up and use the color combo plus paper piecing! Remember, its paper PIECING, not piercing. This is where you cut out your images for a 2nd time on DSP, and adhere it to your main image. On my project the Rich Razzleberry polka dot DSP is what I paper pieced to create the dresses on the little girls. (and yes, my picture sucks...its been raining here all week, which is good, but leaves me little light inside or outside to take good pics, so sorry for the quality!)

1. Make a project using the " Paper Piecing " technique.
2. Or Make a project using " Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight & Pool Party ".
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a " Paper Piecing Project using the above colors."

Birthday Gift Card Pop-Up

My youngest son was invited to a birthday party for one of his friends today so yesterday we went into Wasilla to hit up Target and grab a gift card for his buddy. We got him one for Cold Stone Creamery and since the gift cards don't come with envelopes I decided to make a pop up gift card holder.

I have to admit, I wasn't sure what colors I should use, and I don't really have any sets geared to teen boys, so I went with DSP from Well Worn and since we're in Alaska I used the moose image from Definitively Decorative Pines. The text/ sentiments are from the set Bring On the Cake.

Friday Mashup Sketchy Bird

Whew, I was so happy to see Friday approaching on the calendar! I was called in for jury duty earlier this week, and then I also started a special summer position at work, supervising a work crew of 4 teenage boys for 10 hrs a day, 4 days a week. If that doesn't make a person desperately want Friday to arrive then nothing will, LOL.

Its my turn again to host the Friday Mashup challenge and unlike my patriotic challenge, which sent everyone into hiding, I think this weeks is very simple and straightforward. All you have to do is use the sketch I provided, create a project that has a bird or  birds on it, or mash it up and create a project with the sketch that also incorporates birds. I just adore birds and I can spend hours in my backyard and around the area with my camera, stalking some birds and waiting for THE picture! Right now I've got a pair of tree swallows nesting in my yard and I just adore their beautiful colors!

Summer Sketch

Wow, a 3rd card for today? Yep, I was on a roll! I wanted to knock out some cards and challenges before I start my 10 hr workdays tomorrow.


This card uses the sketch from Sunday Stamps over at Holly's blog, and the theme 'summer' is this weeks challenge over at The Paper Players. I'm not a fan of summer, its my least favorite season, so I don't have a lot of stamps that I could consider representative of that time of year. I finally decided on using the set Peace Within(which just retired). Although my kitties are strictly indoor they do love to watch the activity outside and are always happy to curl up on a chair!

Christmas Music with Jingle Belles

Yep, another Christmas card for today!

Its time for a new challenge over at the Jingle Belles blog and this week we are to "create a card (or gift card holder, or whatever else you'll be needing for the holidays) that incorporates music, that is inspired by a holiday song, or that includes a holiday song title."

I was so happy to see this challenge because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas music! I listen to it all year round....just the other day I was listening to some Michael Buble and Straight No Chaser Christmas albums. It's a good thing I work alone, I would probably drive my co-workers crazy...or make them realize that Christmas music all year is a good thing :0)

I used one of my favorite sets, A Christmas Carol. Unfortunately it didn't seem to be very popular with others and retired pretty quickly. I think its a great set, but I love images of an old-fashioned Christmas.

'Tis The Season

Well, I guess it really isn't THE season for this card since its June 4th, but that's OK :)

For this card I played along with the Merry Monday challenge. The only change I made was moving the shape on the right down. I tried the star on the right and I just didn't like how it looked, so I moved it down to the strip going across the card and added a 2nd star. Other than that I stayed true to the sketch!
