'Tis the Season First Challenge!

It's time for our first challenge over at 'Tis the Season and I am so excited!

To kick things off we have a sketch challenge for you, and we also want to see some ribbon on your card! Pretty easy Christmas card to get you going right?

I used a set from the SU holiday catalog called Santa's List. I just love Santa and this image of him is such a classic one, I really like it. I stamped the image in Black StazOn and then used Cherry Cobbler and Smoky Slate to color him in, along with a Blush Blossom watercolor crayon for the skin tone. My DSP is from the Season of Style Paper Pack, I love the fun polka dots!

I hope you'll come join us over at 'Tis the Season! Even though the DT is using Stampin'Up! you can play along with any product you'd like!

Christmas Ribbon for Jingle Belles

I'm cutting it close again on the challenge but I did it, I got my card for the Jingle Belles challenge done in time!

The challenge this week over at the Jingle Belles blog is all about ribbon. I had an idea about how I wanted to execute it but I wasn't sure it was going to work until I actually finished it!

First I used a plaid background stamp on my Chocolate Chip card stock, I didn't want to leave it blank. Then I took 5 different Christmas ribbons from Stampin'Up! (retired) and layered them to create a background. I colored my sentiment stamp with markers and cut that out with the oval dies from SU. It's hard to tell in the picture but the sentiment panel is popped up with dimensionals. I thought the panel looked a little bare so I added the pearls for a little extra visual punch.

I'm really pleased with how it came out and I hope you like it too (sorry for the crappy picture, I was in a hurry)!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Christmas Lodge, More Merry Messages(inside sentiment, not pictured cause I forgot to take a pic!)
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Ink: Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Big Shot, Framelits Ovals Collection, Basic Pearls, SU Alpine Ribbon, SU Cherry Cobbler Quilted Ribbon, Early Espresso Quilted Ribbon, sponge, dimensionals

Decorative Friday Mashup

It's time for another Friday Mashup...lets see if we can get everyone out from hiding again, since my patriotic challenge seemed to send all the crafters into their corners for the week!

This week our challenge is brought to us by Kasey and sad to say, this is her last challenge as a Friday Mashup design team member. She is moving on and we're all going to miss her. She definitely challenged me at times and got me to think out of the box, so thank you Kasey, its been a pleasure working with you!

This week Kasey wants us to use a decorative edge on our project, use ribbon  OR mash it up and use both decorative edges and ribbon. I went ahead and mashed it up...my decorative edges are in the middle of the card though so hopefully that still counts!

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup to check out the rest of the inspiration from the design team and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you come up with!

  1. Make a project " with a Decorative Edge! "
  2. Or Make a project with " Ribbon and or a Bow. "
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project " with a Decorative Edge & Ribbon ".

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
