Birthday Piled High with Power Poppy

The current Power Poppy Creative Challenge was posted on Nov.20 and because the hostess Julie K and a fellow Bloomie team member Tosha L had birthdays that day the challenge was to create a birthday card. Nov.20 is also my youngest sons birthday, he turned the big 2-0 this year, no more teenager! It was his first birthday away from home as he moved to OR in Sept, so I think he was feeling just as sad as I was that day. I did get to talk though and that made me happy!

For my card I used the Power Poppy digital stamp Layer Cake. My colors for the cakes were pulled from the DSP I used for the background paper. I did use the sentiment from the set but had to stretch it a bit from it's original form in order to fit the sketch I used. On one card I decided to place a colored frame around the sentiment square and the other one I just left the sentiment square plain.

The layout I used is from the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Of course I didn't notice until I was editing my photos that I forgot the strip across the top of the square panel (sigh). You win some, you lose some! Other than that my card follows the sketch.
