My nephew is currently finishing up week 3 of Army boot camp out on the east coast and so this card is to send him some encouragement. When I joined the Navy (in the Dark Ages according to him LOL) I remember how much getting mail meant to me. All these years later I still have every single letter I received in boot camp. I even have the letters my dad sent my grandma when he went through USMC boot camp during Vietnam.
This set is from Stampin Up and is called Loyal and True. SU really doesn't have any DSP that is patriotic so I used some paper I got from a local scrap store. I like how the main image didn't stamp perfectly clean, it gives it a nice muddled look that makes me think of camo, which is perfect!
I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but I stamped a sentiment that reads "We are in this together, no matter how far apart". Perfect for this situation!

Thanks for stopping by!
What an awesome card for your nephew. I like the clean and simple focus on the loyal soldier in the main panel...nice colors too! Thank you for joining us at The Paper Players!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful card and I enjoyed hearing the story behind it, Lisa. I'm a Marine Mom, and when my son was in boot camp and overseas I sent him tons of mail and packages. I think it was the only thing that kept me sane! I am grateful for your nephew's service. Thanks for playing along with my sketch this week at The Paper Players, too!
