Sorry

If you have stopped by here you have noticed I havent been on in quite some time. I apoligize for that. My youngest son has been having medical issues and my father was recently diagnosed with cancer and then had some major issues(he coded at the hospital almost 2 weeks ago, thank god for a quick response by the team there) and is now back home. However, my heart just hasnt been into stamping or any craft lately. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll get something done. I have discovered that even though I made Christmas cards all year I am running out! How can that be??

Clean and Simple Snowflake

This week I start off my projects with the latest Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoast. I chose to use a snowflake, which is appropriate since we just received our first snowfall here in southcentral Alaska last night! I am SO happy to finally have snow! I love, love, love snow!!!

The challenge was to use white with just one other color, so I chose Night of Navy. The snowflake is embossed with a dark blue powder and then Night of Navy ink was used for the sentiment.

And just a few pics of what inspired me,hehehehe:

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: The Snowflake Spot
Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: CB Swiss Dots folder, whisper white ribbon, dark blue embossing power from Stampendous,Versamark, sponge

Sunday Stamps and Color Challenge

I've gotten behind on the challenges over at Holly Beary Creations so I combined 2 of them today to try and get myself back on track. For this card I did the Sunday Stamps challenge, letter 'I' and I used the In Everything Give Thanks set. Then I used the colors from Holly's color challenge, which were Basic Gray/Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White and Green Galore. I used a layout shown in the current SU catalog, on page 23.

I think right now there is so much to be thankful for, so thats why I chose this set. I live in a beautiful state, I've got wonderful friends and family, and the net allows me to meet fellow stampers and check out the wonderful creations of everyone. When I am feeling down I just remember all of this and how truly lucky I am!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):

Stamps: In Everything Give Thanks

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore

Ink: StazOn Black, Crushed Curry, Basic Black, Basic Brown, Close to Cocoa, Ruby Red, Versamark

Accessories: Basic Black ribbon, dimensionals

Clean and Simple

Today we have a very simple, easy card. This week over at the Clean and Simple challenge on Splitcoast the challenge was to use brads or eyelets and I combined it with Holly's alphabet challenge. The letter this week was 'H', so you could use a set that begins with that letter or do a card for a holiday. I did both! I used the Holiday Woodcuts set, one of my favs and of course I made another Christmas card...like I need more of those, right? ;) The red cardstock is popped up with dimensionals to give the card some depth.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):

Stamps: Holiday Woodcuts

Paper: Whisper White, Riding Hood Red

Ink: Night of Navy, Basic Gray, Ruby Red,Summer Sun

Accessories: Eyelets, Dimensionals, Blender Pen

It's a Twilight Tuesday Blog Hop!

I love Twilight. I resisted it for a while, telling people I had no interest in it whatsoever. I've never been much of a vampire fan and I didnt think this series was something that I'd like. Then one day my daughter brought home a copy of Twilight from the library and I said what the heck, I've got nothing else to read. Ever since then I've been hooked! I've read all the books numerous times and cant get enough of Edward :)

Then my friend Holly introduced me to the Twilight Tuesday Challenge Blog. Oh man, what more could a Twilight fan ask for!? Now the blog is celebrating its first anniversary and what better way to celebrate than with a blog hop!!

There is a whole year of challenges to choose from and I decided to do 2 of them.

The first challenge I did was #11, A Cullen Christmas. I love Christmas, and I love the Cullens, so what better challenge than this one for me to try my hand at!

I decided to do a Christmas card the way I thought Alice would envision Christmas. At times Alice annoys me a bit because she is so dang perky, but on the other hand you know you can always count on her. Anyway, back to Christmas :) I see Alice having a very traditional Christmas, with large wreaths, lots of bows and a big Christmas tree with tons of presents under it. I chose this stamp because I like the simplicity of the house, but yet you still get the warm feeling of the holidays from it. Although Alice has the tendency to go overboard on things I can totally see her doing a simple outdoor display such as this. The image is watercolored and its hard to see, but I used white craft ink for the snow and a blender pen with gray to create the way the sky looks when snow is moving in.

My 2nd card is for a more recent challenge....#51, Edward and what that character means to you. Personally, when I think Edward I think of eternal love and someone who is there for you no matter what. In the movie where Edward and Bella are dancing in the gazebo and he leans down to brush his lips against her neck....that scene right there is a wonderful example of Edward. His tenderness, the love he has for Bella and how much he wants her to retain her soul and human life.((sigh)) I ♥ Edward. My card is a representation of how he sparkles, both inside and out. The chipboard was sponged in Riding Hood Red, then I added Dazzling Diamonds to it. Along the right side I used my Edward stamp to make a watermark image down the side, and then added the 'Forever' over it.

Now that you've stopped by my little spot on the net, and hopefully enjoyed yourself!, its time to go check out the next blog in the hop. Please go check out Julie over at her blog, Stars Fall Designs (and she also a sponsor for the hop, wooohooo Julie!)!

HollyBeary Creations-Color Challenge #1

My friend Holly over at HollyBeary Creations(formerly Inka Dinka Doodle) has started another challenge, and this one is a color challenge. Seriously folks, if you havent been to her blog check it out! She is an awesome stamper and I love seeing the stuff she comes up with!

These are the colors to work with( Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, Always Artichoke and Lavendar Lace):

I think these are awesome colors, although the purple scared me! I'm not a purple fan so anytime I have to incorporate that color I get a bit nervous. I think I did ok though. For the purple I used Lovely Lilac ink to stamp the bird on Lavendar Lace paper, and then Lovely Lilac again for the sentiment(I didnt have any Lavendar Lace ink). The cardstock base is Always Artichoke and then I used DSP in Soft Suede for the top layer and a small layer of Dusty Durango across the bottom, along with some Very Vanilla Ribbon.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Season of Friendship
Paper: Always Artichoke, Dusty Durango, Autumn Traditions DSP, Very Vanilla
Ink: Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Lovely Lilac,Always Artichoke
Accessories: Very Vanilla Ribbon, dimensionals
