Fall Moose

I'm late, I'm late! I went to Denali National Park over the weekend and didn't get any crafting done before I left so here is my Sunday Stamps card a bit late.

We have a fun color challenge this week at Sunday Stamps and the colors are perfect for fall. When I saw the colors my eye instantly went to the yellow and I started thinking about what I could do to make the yellow the focus of my card. I looked around my area to try and get some inspiration and 2 things instantly jumped to mind..... moose and larch trees. I LOVE larch trees, I think they are so cool. I'd love to have a bunch in my yard but my husband isn't a big fan like I am. The bright yellow/orange they turn in the fall just really appeals to me.

I then started thinking about the brown in the color palette and of course what comes to mind? Moose of course! It's rutting season and when I was up in Denali I was really hoping to see some big bulls looking for a female friend but alas the moose were nowhere to be seen. We did see a young bull as we were leaving the park but all the others were hunkered down somewhere.

For my card I used the trees in the Merry Moose set to stamp some larch trees and then I added some smaller pine trees in front of those. I then stamped my moose image on Soft Suede card stock with Early Espresso ink and used my coordinating punch to pop the moose out. The background paper is from the Plaid Tidings DSP found in the SU Holiday Catalog. I popped the moose up with mini dimensionals and I thought about adding a sentiment but then decided I liked the card as it is and so I put it down and called it good!

Make sure you head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see what you do with these colors!

  1. I don't blame you for ditching the card making when you have a chance to go to Denali! One of my bucket list things for sure. I love that bright plaid along with the pretty trees and of course the handsome moose. Fabulous card, Lisa!

  2. Larch trees are gorgeous and I did see some in the Black Hills- I believe this summer. I have mature oak trees that keep us plenty busy year round- so I will agree with your hubby this time.! lol Nice fall card, Lisa.
