A Blue Christmas

My favorite challenge blogs both have great challenges this week.....Power Poppy has a blue color scheme for the Hues to Use Challenge and Jingle Belles has a photo inspiration that is also filled with blue. Blue is my favorite color (well, tied with green!) and so I was very excited to try and figure out a card to combine these 2 great challenges.

Power Poppy has a wonderful digital image called Wreaths: Felt Leaves and Fruits  (and today is the last day to get their digital images 20% off, go check out the Power Poppy website!) so I decided to make that image the focus of the various blues wanted by Hues to Use. If you look at the Jingle Belles inspiration photo you can also see the varying degrees of blue used, from the ornament on the side table to the ribbon on the mantel to the snowflakes hanging from the mantel.

I colored the felt leaves in the sky shade of blue and then used the cornflower shade on the pom pom fruits and the midnight blue for the berries. I continued the darker blue color into my card base layers. The sentiment in the middle of the wreath is from another Power Poppy digital stamp set called Glittering Glass Santa. I resized it to fit in the middle and then changed the color of the stamp from black to blue.

For the Jingle Belles inspiration I embossed the banner with a snowflake pattern, after the snowflakes hanging from the fireplace. The white cascading down on the patterned paper was inspired by the white dots going down the wall in the picture, and the stark white of the image panel against the blue can also be seen on the inspiration photo with all the white elements contrasting against the blue wall.

Thanks for stopping by!
