Precious Lamb Christmas

I've been hit with a nasty cold and forgot to post this card yesterday, so this will be short and sweet as I just took some NyQuil to ensure some sleep tonight :)

This card was made for the Jingle Belles challenge, to use a creature on your Christmas card, and the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The stamp is an older Pure Innocence Stamp, from back in 2010 I think.

Holy Night Hues for Power Poppy

This week over at Power Poppy's Hues to Use challenge the colors are a dark brown, a light brown and a green. As I sat looking at the colors I knew I wanted to use the set O Holy Night, one I hadn't yet inked up.

I used the browns on the church, with the light brown being the body and the darker brown being brought in on the window panes and some of the trim. I also use the dark brown as my card base. I used the green on the snowy evergreens surrounding the church. I added a bit of yellow for the glow from the windows and slight glow of the moon. I used grays for the rest of the glow around the moon, like it was peeking through the clouds and reflecting.

It still seemed like it needed a bit more so I added some Wink of Stella to all the snow parts of the scene and then embossed it with a snow folder from SU.

Turkey Time for LMMS

It's Thursday and that means it's time for some Inspiration over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog! This week I'm focusing on Thanksgiving with a fun turkey day card.

For my card I'm using the image Polka Dot Hazel. How fun is she with the turkey in her arms? The turkey seems to have a look on his face like "help me". LOL I brought in the colors for PDP Hazel from the patterned paper I used. Because the patterned paper is a bit busy I wanted to keep the layout simple so the image would pop against the background.

Birthday Geraniums

I'm behind on playing along with different challenges so I'm trying to get them done when I can. I needed to make a birthday card for my stepmom so the color challenge from Power Poppy a few weeks ago was just what I needed, as I pulled out the Geraniums Take Two set from Power Poppy to create my card.

The colors are red, green and pink. The red and green were easy for me to do but I wasn't sure how to bring in the pink. I finally decided to outline the flower image with a pink marker, like the sun was setting and the light was bouncing off the flowers, creating a pink glow (anyone who has ever seen alpenglow will know what I'm talking about, similar look!). My picture isn't the best because I was in a hurry and the lighting sucked but hopefully you get the jist :)

Ho Ho Ho for Sunday Stamps

It's time for a new challenge at Sunday Stamps and this week we have a fun sketch from Amy to play with!

Do you ever get a bunch of new stamping goodies and then get so overwhelmed with everything you have that you don't know what to use? That is me right now! The last month or so I've stocked up on lots of new stamp sets and I almost feel like it's giving me a creative block because I don't know what to use. I was struggling for a while with this sketch because I had 3 sets pulled out for consideration and to be honest, I didn't narrow it down until the last minute!

I finally decided to go with the SU set Wishes All Aglow, which can be found in the current holiday catalog. I think these images are a lot of fun and liked the 3 bulbs with the " ho ho ho" written on them. After looking through my DSP I went with the Be Merry DSP and zoned in on a red color scheme with just a touch of green. I brought the green in with my card base, the layer under the middle piece of the banner strip of DSP. It was a quick and easy to put together, making it a great mass assembly card to do for Christmas! Nowadays I need all the help in time management I can get LOL

Christmas Wishes for LMMS

It's time for a new challenge over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamps blog and this week I'm using a brand new rubber stamp on my card. The image is Fancy Sunbonnet Christmas Tree and I think she is super adorable!

I stayed with traditional Christmas colors for my card, taking the main colors from the patterned paper I used. I made the tree a brighter green while coloring her dress and bonnet a more olive green. To give a little extra sparkle I added silver gel pen accents to the tree and her dress, and I used Wink of Stella on the red portions of the dress. Hollyberries and Bookmarks

This month for the Power and Spark Challenge at Power Poppy Stacy Morgan is the hostess and she wants us to create small projects, anything less than 4". I decided to go with bookmarks for my project, using the Hollyberries Digital Stamp set. I love Christmas and I love to read Christmas themed books during the holiday season so I thought bookmarks would be something fun and different.

I used Word to position and size the image and then lined up my die to cut out the hollyberries. I colored them in with my copics and then once I was done coloring I cut out the same bookmark shape in red and green cardstock to adhere to the back of the image panel. To finish it off I looped some ribbon through the top of the bookmark.
