Gifts for Friday Mashup

Hello Friday Mashup fans! Lisa here with this weeks challenge for you. This time of year I'm knee deep in gifts...my 3 kids have birthdays in Nov, Dec and Jan, plus my husband and MIL have December birthdays, and then add Christmas to the mix. Since I'm so busy giving gifts I thought we could make that our challenge. You can choose to make a project using this gorgeous photo of winter gifts or you can create a gift project. What does that mean exactly? Create tags that could go on a gift, or maybe a gift card holder...anything that can be used on or for a gift! Of course you can also mash it up and create a gift project that uses this fantastic photo for inspiration!

 

For my project I made a gift tag holder. Unfortunately I didn't get any tags made and I havent had time to upload pics of the inside. I hope to do that in a little bit. I also spaced the photo inspiration part of the challenge. Pretty good for my own challenge huh? ROFL

Gingerbread and Hot Chocolate Dreams

I had 4 days off for the Thanksgiving holiday and I didn't get ANY stamping done that entire time, can you believe it? Time to start making up for that, and I started with this card...

Today's card combines my 2 favorite Christmas challenges, Jingle Belles and Merry Monday. This is the last prompt of the year for BOTH of these blogs. How am I supposed to wait until the New Year for more Christmas challenges ((cries)).

Jingle Belles wants us to create a card with food on it. I went with these gingerbread men and the cup of hot chocolate from the Scentsational Season set. I love sitting down with cookies and a mug of hot chocolate, a Christmas movie on the TV. The sketch is from Merry Monday and I stayed pretty true to it, just omitting one of the background circles. The cookies and cup are all popped up with dimensionals and I added dazzling details to all of them....Cherry Cobbler and clear on the gingerbread men, and just clear on the cup. I know when my daughter gets home from school she'll love that. She tells me every card should have glitter LOL

You're My Type...of Christmas

It's time for another Friday Mashup! How many US folks are still in a turkey coma?? ((raises hand)) I know I am stuffed! Such a great day, I am so lucky. I am also very thankful for all of YOU. All of the inspiration from my stamping friends just amazes me everyday and I am thankful that stamping and card making has enabled me to know so many great people. So thank you for stopping by my blog, leaving comments, chatting with me by email, etc!

Ok, enough mushy stuff, back to the challenge :) This week Heidi is bringing it to us and it's a fun one! She wants us to create a Christmas card using a NON holiday stamp or image. That's right, gotta think out of the box on this one! You can also create a project that uses a messy technique like spritzing, smooching, shimmer paint, splattering with an aquapainter...anything like that. Of course you can mash it up and do both things on one project.

I was going to use my Aviary set but I've used that as a Christmas card before so I really went out of the box and used the You're My Type set. I added some papers from the Festival of Prints paper pack and I ended up with a masculine looking Christmas card. I have to say, I really like how this came out! Unfortunately I was so busy concentrating on the non holiday image part that I forgot to mash it up...sorry Heidi!

Mr. Twigster for Dynamic Duos

Happy Monday! Hope the week is starting off well for everyone...so far so good here in southcentral Alaska!.

I saw this weeks challenge over at Dynamic Duos and just had to make time to play along....Marina Mist and Basic Black with an option of making your project snowman themed. Love the colors and I just adore snowmen!!

I've seen projects with these window dies popping up all over the place and I just LOVE the windows so I took a little jaunt over to Ebay and picked myself up both the small and large window die, plus the shutters and flower box, wooohooo! For this card I used the small window die along with the SU Mr.Twigster set. I tried to make it like you were looking out the window and saw Mr.Twigster smiling and peeking in on you (ever see the movie Jack Frost with Michael Keaton? There is a scene like that and that was what I had in my mind while making this).

Skates and Snow for Merry Monday

I am scrambling to get this post up! I made this card a few days ago but haven't had any time to get a picture taken or a post done. I'm squeezing in some time while my daughter is working, my husband is birthday shopping for our youngest(who will be 14 on Tuesday...14! oy vey!), my youngest is at his school preparing for the schools annual community holiday dinner and my oldest is occupying himself so shhhhh, I jumped on here really quick.

For this weeks Merry Monday sketch I pulled out the Jolly Bingo Bits set, which I had never inked up before. We've had lots of cold temps (it was 6 degrees when I woke up today!) and very little snow which has made conditions for ice skating pretty perfect around here, so I grabbed the ice skate stamp and the snowflake stamp to create this card. I used just a touch of Real Red for an accent.

Thankful Leaves

Once again the week has flown by and Thanksgiving is just around the corner, holy cow! I just need to lock myself in my room for a day of stamping therapy!

Today's Friday Mashup is brought to us by the lovely Rita, and I am sad to say that this is our last Mashup with her, as she is stepping down from the design team. I wish her all the best and I've loved working with her. Make sure you come by the Friday Mashup and join us for her last challenge which is.......create a project that gives thanks, create a project with leaves OR mash it up and create a project with both of those elements. I went ahead and mashed it up. This card will get mailed out to my step mom tomorrow!

My world is all white now, covered with a blanket of snow, so for my leaves I went with some bold colors. The DSP I used...I was actually going to use the other side of it, which is all Cajun Craze, but I just happened to turn it over while working on the card and decided I liked the way this side of the DSP looked.

My inspiration for the sketch came from this weeks Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I just love the big area across the top that can be used to highlight a sentiment, an image, paper...anything! I know I'll use this sketch again and again!

Embossed Yellow, Gray and Black for Friday Mashup

Wow, its Friday, where the heck did the week go? I don't know about everyone else but it flew by for me! I am definitely ready for the weekend!

Today at the Friday Mashup we have a great challenge for you, brought to us by Holly. I just love the photo she chose for the graphic, isn't it stunning? For the challenge she wants us to use dry embossing, make a project that uses the colors Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray and Basic Black OR mash it up and create a project with embossing and those colors. I love to dry emboss and I love those colors so I mashed it up this week.

Hold on to your seat because ((gasp)) I didn't make a Christmas card! I seriously thought about it, because these colors would definitely be interesting and out of the box but in the end I brought out a set from the holiday catalog I hadn't used yet, Friendship Preserves.

The main image is stamped in Basic Gray and matted on Daffodil Delight and Basic Black. The panel behind it is Basic Gray embossed with the square lattice folder and layered on more Basic Black card stock. I did paper piercing around the labels to draw the eye in some more.
